Well, I don't think music before punk was "a stagnating pile of boringness."
I actually think punk is pretty boring.

I love them too. They are a little inconvenient, but I'm willing to wear them despite the inconvenience. They can caught on chairs, just pay attention when you get up. They are expensive, but I think they're worth the money.

And Korinna, that was hilarious.

I wore Tripps during my 6-month mallgoth period.. I wasn't really into the music/fashion/people, but it took me a while to find the amazingness that is Bauhaus.

Tripps are:
-overpriced
-poorly made
-tear/break easily.. the fabric rips and the metal snaps
-fade after the first washing
-shrink if you even think about putting them in the dryer
-mass produced
-unoriginal
-absolutely SCREAM "mallgoth"

'Nuff said.

EDIT: CCT, I KNOW! Those dumbasses..
Heehee.. I am making a bum flap one of these days..

The only reason I have for spending the money on them is because I have NO sewing ability to make a pair myself.

You don't know much do you...the hippies rebelled against the norm too. Punk is not really all that original. I could never be a full fledged "punk" though because dammnit, I enjoy following the rules usually.

I sure do love jammin' to it though.

Nothing counter cultural is original since the Bohemian revolution. And why should it be?
Nothing's original because it follows the same think-for-yourself spirit that has been existent for literally thousands of years (Diogenes anyone?)
Just wanting originality for the sake of it would be dumb. "Be original and stop with that non-conformist/reformist/innovative attitude. That's so cliché already; conformism is now more original."
See how that makes no sense?
The whole point of counter cultures is not their style, but the attitude behind them that doesn't change significantly from one to the other. Beatniks, Hippies, Provos, Punks... the real ones are all the same.
One counter culture doesn't have to prove it's more 'rebellious and countercultural' than the previous one. It just follows it all in its own way.
The substance that makes real punk good is the same substance that makes The Grateful Dead good. And no self-respectable punk that does not use his fashion style as an escapist lifestyle can honestly say The Clash is better than Bob Dylan.

I think we're at a point in time where nothing is "original" anymore. And in some way or another you are going to be conforming. Not conforming is conforming to the non conformity.

That's only a rhetorical wordplay critics of non-conformists say to try to force us, one way or another, into fitting in the status quo.
In actuality, it doesn't even make sense other than as a sentence.
Think of this:
Conservatives in America all come in the same mold: fundamental Christians, primarily baptists, white, upper class, capitalists, republicans.
What are the two taxonomies they always use to separate people in the media?
Conservatives and Liberals.
But liberals are hardly a manner of describing people at all. It's just too diverse.
What they're really doing is separating people into conservatives and not conservatives.
Ideas that fit in the 'liberal' label are as varied as:
An avid capitalist that believes in laissez-faire (this is the real definition of a liberal which ironically fits very well into the conservative ideology)
A democratic socialist
A simple democrat
A member of the weather underground
An anarcho-capitalist
An upper-class, white man that is simply in favor of abortion.

How do those even reconcile with each other?
It's stupid to clump them all together.
They're just put under the same label because it's the conservatives who label them with the same bullshit biblical standard of "If you're not for [God/Us], you're against [God/Us]"
And it's the same people that favor the status quo that put everything that doesn't fit into their compliant world into one apparent self-contradicting label.

Y'know what's funny? Even we have stereotypes of others, of even our own stereo type...I found that neat. I don't care for Tripp pants, it's just what I can afford...If I had my choice I'd buy something Visual Kei But it costs up to 65-70 bucks for one pair because of the shipping and what not. I think the one thing I do like from Tripp is my skirt...o.O And yeah I'm a guy so. :P

Certainly you can afford normal pants and black dye much easier than tripp pants, so I doubt it's 'just what you can afford'

For me at least, punk or goth or whatever subculture, is not just about the fashion. Sure it is an important part of the subculture but I always thought it's about the MUSIC and the lifestyle. Music is the best part about a subculture. In my opinion at least.

Yeah well, you seem to doubt a lot...You should stop being so negative, and unbelieving all the time, and over analyzing...The point is, I'd rather be wearing something that's comfortable, and what I can afford, rather than going out, buying chains/jeans/dye...Etc. In the end that's all of that which could for me add up to 60 bucks knowing my likings. On top of that, around here everything's so spread out beyond belief so that's not including gas expenses...

Exactly. I am comfortable in what I wear. All I'm saying, is without music, we'd go crazy!

I just don't get it. A pair of pants that fit you in a thrift store never cost you more than $7. 8 oz of black dye cost what, about $13 tops.
Where's the other $30 your argument's making me spend?

The needless crap of me shredding it in areas, with the tools I don't have, on top of that going out and finding other stuff to put onto it...I really prefer to overdo things. I love the excess amount of things onto it. As I said, the visual kei part of it. And like I said, chains...zippers, etc...Bondage is one of my favorite things...o.O

...The point is, that I find it odd, that the goths who say "It's not about the way you look" sometimes say if you wear this, this, and this, you're this...*shrug*

I'm not saying you're implying something, but just in case, I never said "It's not about the way you look"
I always say that people that think 'goth is a feeling' or 'you can be a goth inside' are pussies too scared of what people might think of them if they play the part.
