Cyborgs are a fusion of organic life and machinery. Robots have no trace of organic life unless they're trying to eat them... like they always do because they don't know any better.

There are classics in Southern Gothic too like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow or more modern classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, personally my favorite Southern Gothic author is Flannery O'Connor (in spite of her clear Christian leanings). One of the things that I prefer about it is that it isn't so fantastical, it has more of a magical realism, and it explores social problems, which most Gothic Lit kind of overlooks.

A very large portion of Southern Gothic is written in short stories so take advantage of that and see if you can find a collection with a wide range of authors and styles.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow? I always thought that was more of a New England sort of thing, rather than southern.

No no, the REALLY important thing this thread has brought to light is the proposed power fucking of AshleyO by Versus. I'd watch that. I know you would too. That's right, I'm talking to ALL OF YOU.

It is and it isn't, it kind of gets thrown in with Southern Gothic just because it doesn't really fit with anything else, there are a few other short stories I can think of that are classified the same way, but not too many and nothing full length, one of the reasons why some people prefer the term "American Gothic". Isn't literature fun?
Also MC is right, we shouldn't let anything distract us from AO on V action.

So what about androids? What are they? Should they get rights too?

It already happened, actually. I told him to take pictures if he was going to be gay about by just laying there.

Second wave gothic lit is gay as hell and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for simultaneously saying "oh we just like gothic rock" but actually fangirling over werewolves and vampires.
The lesser known first wave however is thematically much more palatable and deals with the evils wrought by mortal men and liminal states without reverting to the overtly supernatural. Sadly it's all terribly written.

Actually, the first goth was big bang, it created so much black that it still lingers after so much time!

Sounds like a sex reference to me and everyone knows goths don't have sex, they 'make love' in deeply deviant fashions to make sure that everyone knows how deep and twisted they are in their soul.
