Well I am not going to post one of my love poems here, because last time I posted a poem people were extremly rude. But all the poems are good, especially Tam li Hu and humane pain.

*finds Weep's old poem*

Ahh, I see.

Well, I think that folks became rude because

1. Some folks are just like that, but also.

2. Because your poem -did- have a lot of cliche Goth imagery.

Despite that, thank you for the complement.

Well that's because I am a gothic, what else do you want me to be? But I still like yours.

Yeah. And that's why I can't take this thread seriously.
I do love love poems, but if I find anything remotely good about love in these so-called poems that do take themselves seriously, I'll eat my face.

We both know that those poets are anomalous. I judge by majority, and when people define something as a love poem, I interpret that as a pejorative because any poem revolving around love by a capable poet has certain ambiguity and something different about it for a different context. Love poems on the whole are the generic "I love you. My blackened soul yearns for you." etc. etc. yawn.

I agree with JCC. Even let's take away the majority thing so as not to go to the argument of "don't judge everything by what shouts the loudest"
Even forgetting that, what poems do you think were going to go in this thread?
The "I need no other crown than the laurel of your arms" or the "the only love in this dark world is you, my one-month-two-days old love"

Well some of us are incurable romantics. I am glad to be one. in the same way you cannot help analyzing what people say, I cannot help but try to describe the beautiful women I have seen and the emotions they arouse within me.

I agree with Humane. Only, with it in reference to men.

And this is coming from someone with a -very- cynical outlook on romance in general, and who has yet to experience true romance! XD

In answer to your question Jillian, I was looking for any poem that would actually describe the romantic feelings, or the other feelings of love you might have for someone. I didn't want the sarcasm of some.

And Humane is right, some of us are just incurable romantics.

I don't write shitty love poems. I write shitty lust poems. Enjoy(?):

Heatstroke

The sun is treacherous and burns the ground,
And the ants and snakes bury themselves in the crack in the sidewalk.
A faint jazz riff plays over the speakers
While I squint out at the bleached white pavement
And the squealing of the construction crew thundering past.
From beneath the tree, you flick your wrist,
Setting a thin cigarette smoldering,
Breathing smoke despite the sweltering heat.
You cast a sidelong glance, daring me to move from my shady shelter.
I think:
Maybe we can burn ourselves away, melt in the sun,
And reemerge from the ashes
Falling from between your lips.
--------------------------------------
The Orgiastic Reflex

I'll fuck you like I wanna bury my soul in you
thrusting you against the wall
forcing you through space
stopping time to the rythm of our bodies pressing together
this moment is sacred
when you I hear you scream
this moment is free
when you are lost in a disturbing dream
black magic forces your essence close to mine
and I am free to pluck it from you
and revel in a taste of your glory
feeding on each other's juices
sinister sins breeding self-sacrifice
on the alter of coital conspiration
to hatch a master plan
of infamous infidelity
in the eyes of a devout and angry god.
"You almost killed her with that one," says Jim.
Well, jim, we die a little bit every time.

Talking

This guy that likes me wrote this.
it is very good, and touching.

its called "For Her"

As I breathe the sylabols of her name I always feel in my chest a constant pain. A longing for her I Pray that she knows how ifeel about her. While day by day by day by day Thoughts of only you in head will remain. She means that much to me But now i know she's all I need. For her I breathe For her I live. Everything is so brand new to me, for her my first I hope my love she'll see.

I remember you, you are an incredibly cruel and closedminded person. I cannot be bothered to open your mind so instead I will just ignore you, as you deserve.

You're right, I'm totally cruel and evil. Crying and pleas don't move me, but if there's one thing I can't stand it's being ignored! Noooooooo, pleeeease - talk to meeeeeeeeee!

This is a poem I dedicated to my gf.

Before and After

Before...
I was a shadow
A faint silhouette
A blank empty void
Always alone and upset.
After...
I was filled
With your love and grace
Holding burning desires
To be within your space.
Before...
I hated the world
Living was a sin
Aches and pains
Ran Ramped within
After...
I was clensed
Healed by your touch
Living a new life
Within your clutch
Before...
There was nothing
But a cadaverous shell
Such a morbid creature
Belonging to hell
After...
I was a sight
Angelic to the core
So vibrant, and Bright
Just to be at your door
Before and After
And ode to our love
Among all worldy, and heavenly things
I hold thee above

It doesn't seem very realistic to me, honestly.
I'm not crazy about it.

One beautiful symphony
The only symphony I ever wanted to hear
It was all perfect, I knew that
But I took the music sheets and threw them asunder
Now she plays a different tune, One I can't hear
Because it makes me weep every time I hear them play it.

My ex boyfriend just wrote this to me.....

He wants me back I guess.

I really hate the 'most (this thing) is bad' argument. Most of EVERYTHING is bad.
Literary genres aren't defined by the majority, they're defined by the writers who produce... definitive work. For instance, that's why science fiction as a genre will always be associated with Bradbury and Asimov, not with whoever churns out the shitty paperbacks which line the 'Fantasy' rack at Barnes and Noble, and certainly not with the kids write Evangelion fanfiction and post it on the internet.
