Hello from the Man In Room 5...
I don't normally do these survey things but just for the hell of it and to save me from writing something more in depth, here it goes....
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I have the most un-goth job in the world so I won't reveal it. I only keep it because I've had it 12 years and it pays damned good money for the pitiful amount of actual labor I preform there. Hobbies include reading, writing, and collecting music (both CD and vinyl).
2. Where are you from?
Bloomington, IL. It's roughly in the middle of the state, between Chicago and St. Louis.
3. Who is your favorite author?
I read too much to ever make a final decision on this. In fiction: Stephen King, Robert Graves, and H.P. Lovecraft. (I realize that Lovecraft is horribly hack but isn't that exactly why we love him?) In nonfiction: Robert Graves (again) and Frances Yates.
4. What are your favorite films?
All the Star Wars movies, all the Indiana Jones movies, all Tim Burton movies, all the Road Warrior movies, Dune, Blade Runner, The Matrix (but not the sequels), Dark City, The Wicker Man (original version), any documentaries about punk/goth music. About half of the movies listed in Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film. Anything by Roger Corman and all those old Hammer movies or any horror of that era. I'd also like to go on record stating that I like horror and suspense movies and don't consider slasher movies to be either.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I'm not going to answer this one but I do have an observation to make. Have you ever noticed the extreme similarity between the wedding march and the funeral march? Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?
6. At your funeral?
Berlioz's Sabbath Night's Dream...just to scare the priest.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
As the rich, eccentric, reclusive and misanthropic owner of both Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
A red velvet lined black box......what else?
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Well, considering that I'm 38 I try not to dress like I shop at Hot Topic. I suppose I fall into the "casual goth" image.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Playing doctor with little girls.
11. What's your favorite band?
Bauhaus. (I know it's cliche but I came into goth from punk and I like all the early bands best.) Others I like--in no real order--would be The Cure, Siouxie, Joy Division, Dead Can Dance, Black Tape, Christian Death, Switchblade Symphony, Current 93, Project Pitchfork, Xymox, Bowie, Velvet Underground, Corpus Delicti, Fields of the Nephilim. I especially like the 1st wave of British and European goth bands and most of the bands that were on those countless Cleopatra compilations back when Cleopatra was good.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
High school was the limit. Of course, my high school councilor kept telling me I was reading at a college level. I was one of the few kids in high school who actually read books for fun, besides those they made me read.
13. Why did you join?
I've been punk/goth since the late 1980s but the reason I joined was because I just happened to be bored today and want to browse your boards.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
If I told you I have an apadravya would that give it away?

Welcome.
The Dune movie? Heh, I saw that years ago and don't really remember it very well. But it didn't it have guns that you charge up by speaking into them...
The books are awsome though.

You had me at No. 4 (I love those old Hammer House of Horror movies) but this one clinched it. Good taste in literature, too. I am weak at the knees.
Welcome, Old One.

Welcome to the boards. Thank the gods you have decent taste in music, and "room 5" makes me happy. But the red velvet lined black box is MINE! I'm Bela, after all..

Damn, my first post made Tin Lizzie weak at the knees, Lolly likes me already, and Korinna finds my member interesting. Not bad for a baby bat. I should have joined this place ages ago. I could have reached the coveted Andrew Eldritch status by now. I already have my oversized state trooper style sunglasses set aside for that special day.

Since you're into piercing check out my cool apadravya article on BME. It's titled Apadravya In Bloomington. (I can't post the link here because I'm too new.) Occasionally, I try to write serious articles for a little cash or notoriety but ironically an article about my dick which I wrote for free has probably been read more than all my other stuff combined. There are no pictures with the article...but I have some if anyone wants to see. ]:-)

I LOVE BME! You is now mah buddy, mmk?
I would like to see the apa pic, but totally not in a sexual way. Just so you don't get any ideas. I just love piercings
Well, Lugosi (fiance) sleeps in my black box with me, but he might be willing to make room for you XD
Edit: GREAT article, by the way. *grumbles* That barbell should have been fitted better, though..

Hmmm. Not sure how I'd even show it now that I think of it. I can't post links here or PM because I'm too new. I don't have any server space anywhere where I can post that sort of thing either. Email if you want and I can Email them or Email a link to the file on Rapidshare. Or check out my Yahoo 360 page. I have a dead link to it there which I will re-link today. My Yahoo ID is maninroom5.

I KNOW YOUR REAL NAME NOW!
Rapidshare is giving me shit about joining and downloading and whatnot. I don't know if that's because of the dead link, or if it just doesn't like me >_>
Is the link up again?

Wow. That's odd. I don't know. It works for me. Umm....have you used Rapidshare before? Do you know how it works? Click the link. Click the free button in the lower right. It makes you wait a minute or so then asks you to enter a verification code (to keep out the 'bots). I know it's tedious but it should work. If not, just Email me and I'll Email the file. Isn't technology great?
Gee, after all this I hope you find the picture worth the effort. lol

Ha! You posted your Email address here? That's exactly what I was trying to avoid doing myself. Altho, I suppose anyone with half a brain could figure it out by my ID alone....but then, I don't credit most people with that much brains anyway. For years I believed I was a genius. Then I realized it was just that everyone else was really stupid.
I'm not gonna tell you how I got my usernmae. :-P You'll just have to read V For Vendetta. Or just cop out and watch the movie.

OUCH! You got one of those? And do the women really get off on that?
Anyway, always nice to meet someone who likes Dark City - keep tuning!

The ones I sleep with do. Of course, you have to get good with it and getting the most out of it is different with each person. You might not jump right into bed and give her the best time ever. Everyone is different and practice makes perfect. Of course, that goes for all couples anyway, so at least that aspect is the same....but once you're comfortable with someone they usually enjoy it. I got it when I was 36 and immediately started dating a 20 year old girl who had known me for 2 years but suddenly found me more interesting.

Welcome to the board. I'm glad to see another gothy that's close to my age. I always feel too old to dress the way I want to. I'm new to the board too.

I'm definitely too old to dress the way I like, but I do it anyway - and what with midlife coming up to smack my tail; it is comforting to know I can at least fit into some of the stuff.
Now here's a thought: At such a "mature" age (39), would I be able to date a 20 year old like the Man in Room 5?
Probably ... but maybe I should get a Prince Albert! Ha!
NOT!
