Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

The Blues...
Is anyone else 'round here a fan of blues?
Any blues.
Delta Blues, Chicago Blues, Blues-rock, Mississippi Hill-country, any blues you feel like.

I love the blues. Robert Johnson is my hero, I actually got kind of into voodoo/folk magic when I was a kid thanks to Crossroad.
Have you seen Black Snake Moan? Samuel L Jackson is the best blues man ever.

Haha yeah I have Black Snake Moan. I enjoyed it a lot, even though it got a hell of a slating from the critics.
Robert Johnson is great, I'm a big fan of R.L. Burnside and Son House too.
And ONE bloody reply on the blues? And pages and pages on Lady Gaga....

I know right? We got an entire century old genre here and we can't compete with one new pop artist that will be forgotten in a few years.
I just don't understand people.

I love B.B. King. Saw him on his last tour.
Muddy Waters, he's the man.
Lately I've been getting into Seasick Steve. I kinda like his stuff, even though it's not a patch on B.B or Muddy's work.

Must second this on the BB King bit.
I honestly play blues more than any other genre when I'm messing around at home. I have to, cmon, I've got this guitar
It does blues so well.

That Burnside song is tight. I'll look out for Seasick Steve.

mostly love any blues, but I gotta admit I have a craziness for what I'd call "trash-blues" stuff, from Nick Cave to Gun Club thru Pussy Galore and even La Muerte...

I know a little bit of blues. Every morning you will catch me listening to john lee hooker when i can. Howling wolf is cool, There is this other guy i came across Long John Hunter he's really cool. Of course i got a few of my favorite songs Down home blues by sun house and sometimes you will catch me singing lead belly. I used to hit up some shows too mostly local artist's Abi G and big Daddys blues band, Lady Bianca, The croon dog's. This was back when i was in the states.

They get lumped into the southern rock genre a lot, but if you listen to the music, Gibbons is plainly a blues guitarist.

Just the best.

My favorite BBQ joint in Chicago (Smoke Daddy's for anyone in the area) use to have local artists sing the blues during the weekday dinner time. I developed my love of the blues there and have managed to maintain it. Actually seeing the difference between the blues in Chi-town, and the blues guys down here in Georgia, has only deepened the feeling.

The Black Keys. I just started hearing about them from one of my sweethearts. Heavy blues influence. Only thing I can think this band could use is a sax player.
