Tongue piercing

I really want one of these.

Who here has one? Can you tell me how the piercing procedure went? (and how much it hurt to have done! ) How painful/disruptive was the healing process, and how long before you were back to normal?

I'm still unsure of whether or not to tell my folks about this one. Unlike most teenagers, I don't actually like horrifying them, and they're pretty conservative when it comes to body mods. If I reckon I can hide it from them then I'll go for it without telling them, but if everyone experiences a sever speech impediment and inability to eat food for the first week, I'll probably end up having to tell them before I get it done. >_>

I already answered to you on our other common forum, so do I have to copy+paste it here?

Wouldn't be a bad idea; maybe someone else will find your reply helpful too.

Okay, here goes:

When I was getting my first tattoo done, my friend got bored and decided to get her tongue pierced while waiting. It's the funniest thing ever to hang out with someone who's had their tongue pierced a few hours ago, the tongue swells up so you can't make out a word they're saying

But she did say it didn't hurt that much. Also a friend of my sister's managed to hide his tongue piercing from his parents for weeks.

How can you hide a swollen tounge? It's not the ring that's hard to hide it's the swelling

Well you gotta stay away from your parents/whoever you want to hide it from for a few hours after you've taken it. Or just not talk to them

Well since no one has mentioned the healing process, I might say that after doing it if you don't keep something in it, it will heal up very quickly! I pierced mine in 2 years ago once in Art class lol and I took it out later that night and I woke up and it had completely healed!

The tongue is amazing like that... I can't even tell how many times I've accidentally bitten it, had it bleed and bleed and bleed, and then forgotten about it the next day because it had healed so fast.

Hooray for fast-healing muscles, I say.

(Come to think of it, I accidently bite my tongue waaaay too often...)

You might lisp a bit for a few days, until you get used to talking with it in. It will be a bit hard to eat for a few days, but it's really not that bad. I got mine pierced back in 1993, and just took it out last year. I actually spoke with a lisp AFTER taking it out. I guess it was because I had had it for so long and gotten so used to it.

Should be £25 to £35. I'm planning to go and do it on Saturday. So far I've told my dad, who didn't really freak out too much (he told me he won't refuse me permission to do it, and he said he doesn't know enough about it to be either for or against it, but he definitely isn't very comfortable with the idea - as long as it matters to me and I'm sensible about it though (ie. knowing the risks, which I'm now nearly an expert in, lmao), he's not going to interfere), but I haven't told my mum (I want to get it done and try to keep it hidden, or at least let her find out after it's been done so she realises it's not such a huge deal)

I'm planning to get my earlobes done at the same time. I want to get them pierced at 2mm so I can put these awsome little UV orange plugs in. I may eventually go up to 4mm, but TBH, stretched piercings are pretty gross to me, so I wouldn't want to go past that. Electric orange, steel and wooden plugs & tunnels look awsome at a small size though. I'm gonna get a normal-sized BCR in a second lobe piercing on my left ear, mainly to balance out the amount of metal that'll be in my ears after this.

I'm all psyched up and ready for up to a fortnight of excruciating pain, so all I'll have to do now is book an appointment and find my bank card to draw the necessary cash.

Question about a monroe piercing
Do you know anyone who gets it near the same spot where they already have a beauty mark and does it turn out bad because of it?

I say stick with your natural beauty mark. Monroe piercings are horribly common, but if you have a natural one, it's much more unique and worth showing off.

Was that one done where the first one used to be (if you took it out and it healed over), or was it done alongside the first one?

You know, there's also the possibility of not getting ANY piercings at all. Has anybody considered that?

Ahem. Well. I thought not. In any case, in this day and age you'd probably be more unique if you *didn't* have any piercings. Think about it. NOBODY does that.

But by all means, do what really moves you.

Well, if I wanted mine to be unique, I'd heed your advice seriously. But since I'm just doing it because I'm in an experimental stage of life and I'm a little bit vain, I'm more inclined to go ahead with it.

See nobody needs to know I have my tongue pierced if I don't want them to. I like that about it. :3

Oh no no piercings are in no way unique, I am not even fooling myself, I am just so itching for a none ear one. In the meanwhile I will be sticking safety pins through my ears (after cleaning everything).

I really don't see the point in tongue piercings. I've always thought that they were ugly. And I've heard people say that tongue piercings can enhance certain intimate activities... well, maybe I'm just (physically) insensitive, but no, they do not.

Of course, I'm starting to lose my interrest in piercings altogether. I've already let my two eyebrow holes and my nipple piercing close up. I'm also letting my lip piercing and six of my 12 ear piercings close.

I strongly advice against the monroe piercings. It leaves a shitty scar.... wanna see?

I let the first one close because of my incredibly prim and propper high school...so i had it redone through the original point on my first day of college. I want to treat myself to another one for my birthday...
