Battling bureaucratic demons to get a bank to reverse a hold on funds so rent check doesn't bounce.

Wish there was an incantation for that.

Aw, man. That shit's always fun.

My dog is going crazy because my parents finally have enough money to pay some people to get the inland hurricane wreckage out of our yard. Yeah, there was an in-land hurricane in May in Southern Illinois, and no one heard or cared. Meh.

I am currently in possession of the most adorable kitten I've ever seen. Too bad we're only taking care of him for the weekend - think our friends may have a custody battle on their hands when they return. He's sitting in front of the monitor trying to catch the letters as I type them.

Seriously, we've only had him for one night and I'm already sick about giving him back.

Back before the internet (yes children, there was a time when most people did not have computers and everything was done on PAPER) people competed in games across distances by engaging on Play-By-Mail. Some things like chess had been played this way for centuries, but a development in recent decades was more esoteric competitions that were run by third party companies. One of the biggest of these games was called Duel Masters.

Reality Simulations, Inc in Arizona created this gladitorial play-by-mail game in which you built your team of champions and then mailed in your melee combat instructions on a regular basis, paying a flat rate per turn. Then RSI would match up your moves against your opponents and mail you back the results of the round. It was (and still is to a lesser extent) very popular.

Then a few years back a company called Wizards Of The Coast (you know, the "Magic The Gathering" people) mass-marketed a collectable card game called Duel Masters. Shortly after that, the RSI folks changed the name of their game. And here is the notification from their website which amuses the hell out of me:

Ack! What happened?

You may have noticed that the game formerly known as Duelmasters has been renamed Duel2.

You may also have noticed that Wizards released a trading card game called Duel Masters this spring.

While we can't say that these two events are unrelated, we can assure you that we are not in any way affiliated with Wizards -- we are not them, they are not us, and neither of us expect that to change.

While the name of our game has changed, the game itself remains the same.

For those of you who went to the trouble of getting tattoos, we sincerely apologize. For the rest of you, we hope that the transition is much less painful.

May victory be yours.

-- the RSI Staff

Best name change notification EVAH!!! LMAO!!!

I don't get the appeal of that show, perhaps it is because I don't have the ability to completely shut down my brain while remaining conscious.

O Fortuna

O Fortune,
just as the moon
Stands constantly changing,
always increasing
or decreasing;
Detestable life
now difficult
and then easy
Deceptive sharp mind;
poverty
power
it melts them like ice.

Fate—monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
stand malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game,
my bare back
I bring to your villainy.

Fate, in health
and in virtue,
is now against me
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating string;
since through Fate
strikes down the strong,
everyone weep with me!

At half past midnight last night I got a phonecall from my friend ( well slightly more, I do quite like him and we've kissed in the past, I knew h liked me because he said so ). He seemed to have developed the worst stutter imaginable ( normally he can talk a glass eye to sleep ) and couldn't get his words out. I thought he was drunk but no apparantly he was hellishly nervous. The reason being he had called to tell me he is in love with me.

I lay there in bed doing the worlds best dying fish impression. I think I may still be in shock. I have no idea what to do... I mean, I do like him but he loves me? What???????? Help?

Going to work soon. I've been reading and drawing and being generally a lot more productive than usual this week. And it's only Teusday.

He lives over 3 hours away so not exactly possible Mr Meth ( you cheeky lurker you ; ) ) . That's the main rub here. It costs over 80 quid to get there, over 50 for him to come here ( no idea why it's cheaper for him, it's the same bloody route just in the other direction )

I know things like this shouldn't be about money but I don't see how it could really work out getting to see eachother, as I definitely can't afford to shell out over 80 quid every other weekend ect,I really can't. I doubt he could afford it either.

If he lived in London it'd be easier : ( Half the distance half the price half the time to get there. But he doesn't of course, so I don't know what to say to him with regards to getting together .

Tell him that you just don't think it could work with the distance, some people can make long distance relationships work and others can't, hopefully he won't be too crushed.

I have a horrible feeling if I said that he'll be really crushed. Ugh, I'll have to...I don't know I think I'll have a long bath and try to make whatever I say to him sound bearable.

I either just killed my laptop, or if I'm lucky, just the power adaptor.

I almost killed my alarm clock. I knocked a glass of water on it at 3:45 am, and, in a fit of wrath, turned on and refused to turn off until I turned it upside down.

Still works though.

Good luck with your laptop, Mir.
