If I've read anything on this board correctly in my years lurking it, its that goths tend to listen to nongoth bands, so whatever.
DK is neat. My mom's friends with the band (they're mostly Bay Area locals) and I went to the XGAMES with the band a few years back, backstage passes and all paid for by the band. They're cool guys, but I miss the old lead singer. Good times, good times.

Anyways.

What makes you a Goth?

I'm not sure.

I think that makes me a Goth.

Ha ha ha. Personally, my opinion is that a lot of goths are alike, so much so it's rather frightening, and according possibly to certain conditions and maybe just to chance, these strange creatures that are called goths just crop up, like a natural phenomenon. They just kind of... happen. And if that's bullshit, well... whatever. I might get my poor feelings hurt. I am sensitive..... sometimes. And then I get over it.

What truly matters in goth is finding beauty where no one else finds it. Normally this is in darness such as death/black/etc.

The fashion in goth is a way to express that which is why it's normally black clothes, chains, metallic objects, spikes, etc.

The music is what brought it all together and created the lifestyle/culture 'goth'. So the fashion isn't that important, it just expresses your beliefs. Your beliefs are what really count.

or atleast that's my outlook on it, many people see it differently.

Although if you find beauty in arkness and walk around wearing white hollister and abercrombe crap then something is pretty messed up in your noggin.

Goth is a matter of personal perspective.

Personally, I believe you can't enjoy the beauty of light without the infinite, pervading darkness.

Using music as an example, look at the varying eras of The Cure.

I would have to say that thing making someone Goth is everyone else's opinion. We are what other people say we are And might as well do the crime if already doing the time.

Yep, my personal experience has found that being Goth greatly revolves around what other people say.

I agree. There is no leader of goth, no one was the first to stand up and say "I am goth." and he was.
