Launched in the spring of 1999, and specialising in the novella (20,000 to 40,000 words), PS is now acknowledged as one of the premier specialist publishers in the fields of SF, Fantasy and Horror fiction. Since its inception, PS Publishing has expanded its output considerably in terms not only of sheer volume but also of the projects with which its involved, with full-length novels / collections and, increasingly, non-fiction becoming key elements of the imprint.Necessary Evil Press
(Clicks: 46; Comments: 0; Added: 02-17-2007)
Located in the deep dark woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Necessary Evil Press is owned and operated by Don Koish. Established in 2003, Necessary Evil Press has rapidly become a serious contender in the world of specialty press publishing. While the press was still in its infancy, two NEP titles were nominated for the prestigious Bram Stoker Award, and one of them, The Turtle Boy, ultimately went on to receive this great honor. Every year since, our books have appeared in various Year's Best lists and appeared on many award ballots, culminating recently in a 2005 HWA Specialty Press award which cited the press' overall attention to excellence. Among the authors we have worked with are Tim Lebbon (The Assassin series, Berserk), Kealan Patrick Burke (The Turtle Boy), Gary Braunbeck (In the Midnight Museum), Brian Keene (Take the Long Way Home), Simon Clark (She Loves Monsters), and Michael McBride (Zero), almost all of which have sold out pre-publication. Here at NEP we pride ourselves on selecting books based on the strength of story. The name of the author, while most certainly a consideration, is secondary to strong writing, credible characters, an engaging plot and scares aplenty. Backed up by high quality production values and eye-catching artwork, our releases are among the finest and most attractive books you'll find on the market, and we strive to improve with each and every one. We have already discussed future projects with some of the most acclaimed authors out there, and are confident that you will find each new release to be a very necessary addition to your horror library.visisons in my head

(Clicks: 15; Comments: 0; Added: 02-17-2007)
Chaosium, (Kay-Oss-Eum) is known for publishing high quality books & games, and for having a well-developed sense of fun. In 1975 the company was founded as The Chaosium by Greg Stafford. It was later incorporated as Chaosium Inc. Chaosium thrives in the mild climate, gorgeous surroundings, and gentle earthquakes of the San Francisco Bay area. The main office is in Hayward, located about half-way between San Francisco and San Jose. A short walk away is a very good micro-brewery (and one of the oldest!) and Charlie Kranks home. Charlie is our president and resident BBQ expert. The Chaosium sales, promotion, and propaganda office is located in Silverton, Colorado. No one really understands why that is. Dustin Wright, the fellow who lives and works there, is hard-pressed to explain it himself though sitting at an elevation of 9318 feet, the area holds a curious resemblance to the Plateau of Leng. Most of Chaosium's product lines are based upon literary sources. H.P. Lovecraft's 1920's horror fiction provides the basis of the classic Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game line which has won so many awards that the we have lost count, though we do know that there are more than 70 of them. Mr. Lovecraft also provides the inspiration for our many Call of Cthulhu Fiction collections. Michael Moorcock's popular Eternal Champion Swords & Sorcery novels form the foundation of the Stormbringer roleplaying game. Both Call of Cthulhu and Stormbringer use our Basic Roleplaying system which is alive and well despite many, many years of fun and insanity. In 2005, Chaosium is celebrating our 30th anniversary. Endeavor Press began publishing a line of Limited Edition novelettes in 2003, releasing Tom Piccirilli's Fuckin' Lie Down Already, to rave reviews. Fuckin' Lie Down Already was nominated for the 2003 Bram Stoker Award. This was followed in 2004 by Brian Lumley's The House of the Temple, a reprinted novelette that had been previously out of print for many years. Our next publication was something new: our first paperback, saddle-stitched Limited Edition chapbook, We Now Pause for Station Identification by Gary Braunbeck, which also garnered rave reviews. As our success allows, we will increase the number of titles produced each year. In years to come Endeavor Press will continue to publish our popular Limited Edition novelette series, while striving to expand our line to include anthologies, single-author collections, full-length novels, audio books and more! Our Novelette series, which is our primary focus, is produced in extremely limited numbers, usually only 200-300 copies of a signed, numbered Limited Edition, and 26-52 copies of a signed, Traycased, Lettered Edition. Endeavor Press will focus primarily on our line of hardcover Limited Editions; however, we will also be producing an affordable trade paperback edition of most of our titles, six months to a year after the release of the Limited Edition. We love the novelette form, and feel it is particularly effective for horror fiction, allowing the author more freedom to tell a story in greater depth that a short story allows, while still being short enough to read in a single sitting, without having to set it aside and come out of the story. Started in Annapolis , Maryland and now located in Chicago , Illinois , Endeavor Press is owned and operated by Roger Range . Roger has been a fan of genre fiction since he began reading, and has written fiction himself for over two decades. Roger has worked as both a bookseller and a manager for two national bookstore chains for over five years. The knowledge he has gained from both selling books and marketing his own fiction grants a unique insight into the publishing industry. He enjoys working with authors, artists, and independent booksellers, and finds the greatest joy in life to be bringing new fiction to the world.Twilight Tales
(Clicks: 11; Comments: 0; Added: 02-17-2007)
Founded in 1993 by award-winning novelist Tina Jens as a weekly fiction reading series, Twilight Tales has brought hundreds of authors from Chicago and around the world to perform their stories live before an audience. More than a decade later, weekly shows are still held every Monday night upstairs at the Red Lion Restaurant & Pub 2446 N. Lincoln Ave. across the street from the Biograph Theater. Early in its life, Twilight Tales branched out and began collecting the fiction of many of its readers in a series of “sherbet” colored chapbooks. In recent years, the publishing arm of Twilight Tales has moved into producing professional trade paperback anthologies and single author collections. Twilight Tales readers and anthology contributors have included visiting best-selling authors like Max Allan Collins, Barbara D’Amato, Brian Lumley, Yvonne Navarro, Karen Taylor, Melanie Tem and Gahan Wilson , as well as nationally known local novelists like Robert Weinberg, Gene Wolfe, Algis Budrys, Jay Bonansinga , and many more. The books are available at all Twilight Tales shows, as well as at a variety of bookstores, book and art fairs and genre fiction fandom conventions throughout the year. Over the past several years, Twilight Tales has also featured local, domestic and international authors’ fiction as a part of its web site. Twilight Tales is a volunteer-run venture, and many Chicago area authors and fiction-lovers have contributed to its success over the years.Legion Press

We are also feature illustrated books, like graphic novels, and have an interest in children's literature. Major Genre Book Publisher. The best in Science Fiction and Fantasy publishing. Jim Baen started his publishing career, appropriately enough, in the complaint department of Ace Books after stints in the Army, at CCNY, and in Greenwich Village in the Sixties working as the manager of a folk music coffee shop (a "basket house"). He soon moved to take Judy Lynn Del Rey's place at Galaxy magazine, and became editor of Galaxy and If in 1974 after brief trip back to Ace to be assistant Gothics editor. While at Galaxy he published such authors as Jerry Pournelle, Charles Sheffield, Joanna Russ and John Varley, and was nominated for several Hugo Awards. He returned to Ace to head their science fiction line, working with publisher Tom Doherty. When Doherty left to start Tor, Baen shortly followed and started the SF line there. In 1983 he had the opportunity to start his own independent company, Baen Books, distributed then and now by Pocket Books/Simon & Schuster. Baen Books has become a market leader, publishing books at the heart of SF, by authors such as David Drake, Lois McMaster Bujold, Elizabeth Moon, David Weber, James Hogan, Mercedes Lackey, Larry Niven and many more. Jim Baen was very active on the baen.com website, "Baen's Bar," where his interests in evolutionary biology, space technology, politics, military history, and bad puns are discussed along with science fiction.
