Transvision Vamp - The Only One;
New Model Army - No Rest;

Death `Leprosy`

This is the title song off that classic album, when I first heard this song in 1989, I could not believe how heavy it was at the time. My other favourite track on this album is `Pull the Plug`.

PhilSmith 02-09-2006 05:09 PM

I'm a Pumpkin Man

Trauma's remix of the music to the old video game Cauldron II. First heard it on SLAY Radio, which plays that sort of thing, and just had to get the mp3. There's a lot of good stuff out for free if you know where to look.

Effing brilliant.

Rhinocerous - The Smashing Pumpkins

Orbital - the Doctor Who theme tune.

This version is still miles better than the recent Murray Gold arrangement. Listen to it. Love it.

pitseleh 02-10-2006 02:16 AM

Right you are, Phil, the Orbital version of the Doctor Who theme rules. The original is pretty spankin' too, though, for being made at the time it was, by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Rocking the stereo at this moment:

Stop It!! - Here's to New Shortcuts

Alright! Someone else who knows of the fantastic band Black Ice! Have you ever seen them live? I mean, since you live in San Francisco, where they are (were) based?

Listening to:

Amusement Parks on Fire - Local Boy Makes God

Gauzy and ethereal shoegazer rock. This track, the last on the self-titled album, is basically just a blurry wash of slow-burning guitar atmospherics.

rubedo 02-11-2006 01:44 AM

the sounds of animals fighting-act 3-modulate back to the tonic

pitseleh 02-11-2006 02:01 AM

Love your sig, rubedo. Blonde Redhead is one of my favorite bands, especially the earlier stuff. Although "Misery is a Butterfly" is a lovely album, too.

Listening to a really good hardcore band from Vancouver:

Go it Alone - Water Finds its Own Level

Listening to Covenant: Call the Ships to Port

rockandrose 02-11-2006 02:07 PM

E_E, you're a fucking legend. I just love it when you post yet another Motley Crue picture!

I agree with Tall One. I'm a real sucker for the 80s rock star image, especially when it's glam hair metal style.

Poison - Look what the cat dragged in

Song and Dance Man
--------------------
Last night I felt a wind
of change blow through me.
It spoke of a million things
before I die I should see.
Open up your eyes.
Life is poetry in motion.
Ride the open sky
I'll be ok as soon as I'm on my way

I am a song and dance man
Yes, I am a song and dance man

Woman. Oh, woman, sometimes I hear your voice.
It calls out to me,
makes my heart bleed.
Haven't got any chance.

Open my eyes.
Life is poetry in motion
Ride the open sky.
I'll be ok as soon as I'm on my way.

I am a song and dance man
Oh yes I am, a song and dance man
I am a song and dance man

Tokyo has rolling thunder
beautiful women and warm summer rain
Honolulu has stars of fire
words alone cannot explain

Open up your eyes

Spread your wings and fly
Oh Lord I am a song and dance man
Oh Lord I am a song and dance man
That's what I am
A song and dance man

- fuckin' beautiful -

New Order - The Village

I hereby cast my vote for New Order as the best "sunday morning band" in the world. Granted, it's not that long ago since I got up, after a late night of gaming and Lost-watching... But this feeling -- sitting with a cup of coffee and a smoke as the sun sets at half past four -- it rules my pants. Perfect listening right now.

The "Power, Corruption and Lies" -album is what I'm talking about, but anything by them would fit perfectly for that 'waking up' -phase I'm in right now.

WolfMoon 02-12-2006 09:02 AM

Sunday mornin' listenin'.

Going Down To Die ~ DanZig

Wulfy, I like that song by The Sisters.

:)

cannibalnuns 02-12-2006 09:22 AM

Danzig - Dominion

Cause if the heart is dead,
I can take your soul
If you give it free
and the bondage end
Cause if your heart is cold,
Then you belong with me
Let me be the one
That will set you free

<3`s Wolfie,

I bought `Some Girls Wander by mistake` yesterday and it`s brilliant, it has all the early singles on it , including two I have on vinyl (the best way to listen to this band) which are `The Reptile House E.P` and `Temple of Love` 12" single.

Have heard The Mission`s version of it ?.

rockandrose 02-12-2006 11:49 AM

Oooo...Warrant! Those guys are freaking gorgeous.

Bjork- Enjoy

pitseleh 02-12-2006 12:27 PM

Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her - Psycho Melody

Japanese female art-rock duo (with guy on drums) that just slay everything. If you like early Blonde Redhead or weird post-punk-like music in general, this is candy.

rockandrose 02-12-2006 02:29 PM

I freaking love Blonde Redhead.

Opeth - The Moor
