sensuous0mar 02-13-2006 07:21 AM

My current life is commanding me to listen to the soundtrack from Jesus Christ Superstar over and over again until my brain turns to soup and spills out my ears.

wild spider 02-13-2006 07:26 AM

sweet god why are you putting yourself through that?!

sensuous0mar 02-13-2006 07:42 AM

Because I'm an actress, and I'm very serious about what I do. I have been cast as a principle in a local production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Bete Noire 02-13-2006 07:49 AM

"My current life is commanding me to listen to the soundtrack from Jesus Christ Superstar over and over again until my brain turns to soup and spills out my ears."

How many times have you listened to it so far? And why would your brain turn to soup, it's ultra-gawth music is it not?...

wild spider 02-13-2006 07:50 AM

oh..no offence but poor you. but go you on actressing..

i cant decide if im in more of a happy ska mood or a happy system of a down chuck-yourself-round-and-sing-in-daft-voice-to-frantic-metal mood....
decisions decisions

My brain would turn to soup because of religious propaganda? No, really it would be because of having to listen to it so many times. If I listen to anything that much, no matter how much I like the music, i can go nuts.

And yes...Jesus is ultra-gawth. Especially my songs, because I'm Pilate...and I'm mean and kill the messiah.

Poor me? This show is amazing! I love the music. It's certainly not church hymns. It's a rock opera (that means the music is ROCK) and the role of Jesus was originally written for the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Of course I wouldn't expect you to know that.

move_along_kid 02-13-2006 08:19 AM

I didn't know that... I can remember watching the 70s/80s film when it was first shown on TV.
Have you heard the version by Laibach?

cannibalnuns 02-13-2006 09:25 AM

But it's not really the same when you think about it. Jesus - the messiah. Joseph - just a guy. They're pretty different shows.

I've heard so many different versions at this point, that I don't know what I've heard anymore! My director keeps throwing these cd's at me everytime I walk past his office. It's like a never ending supply of JCS reproductions.

pitseleh 02-13-2006 11:49 PM

Converge - My Unsaid Everything

PhilSmith 02-13-2006 11:56 PM

Orbital - The Doctor Who theme. (composer Ron Grainer, original arrangement by Delia Derbyshire)

May have listed this before. I don't care. This is one of the best versions of one of the greatest signature tunes ever composed. It's not as great as Delia Derbyshire's original, though -- a true masterpiece of electronic music.

Listen to both. Now.

The English Beat (US) = The Beat (UK). They had to change their name to avoid confusion.

London After Midnight - Ice

cannibalnuns 02-14-2006 01:19 PM

Sisters of Mercy - Dominion/mother Russia

rockandrose 02-14-2006 01:38 PM

If it's that reality show, called "Fat Loser" or something like that, then I think it's a pathetic show. I hate the majority of reality shows.

Usa did the show first, and now the American host is doing an Aussie version.

Pink Floyd - Keep Talking

Skarp - One in Five

Props to you, Pathogen, for recommending me this band. They are crushing. So good. I'm thinking, based on the crusty sound of this, that you would probably be into hardcore bands such as To What End?, Remains of the Day, Tragedy, pg.99, and His Hero is Gone...

Their lyrics also have a political allignment that sits well with the beliefs I - and from what I have gathered, you too - have.

I think the original sound of the musical with Ian Gillian as Jesus is really good. Oe of my most favourite records ever. eh, but Ian Gillian is the Lead siner of Deep Purple, not Led Zeppelin :) Great voice.

Listening to it now, I'e got to thank you for reminding me of that record :)
