Maynard was better, I'll give you that. But APC as a band was much better than Tool.

Black Tape for a Blue Girl - Shadow of a Doubt.

Demonista_Ravenesque 02-25-2006 09:19 PM

In my opinion, Tool Owns, but the talents of James Iha, former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist is noticeable in APC.

Ecstacy and Vendetta - Sex Gang Children.

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 09:25 PM

And, atleast in my opinion, APC's lyrics were much better than Tools. I'm a bit odd in that I judge how much I like a band 50/50 music/lyrics.

Muse - Thoughts of a Dying Athiest.

Demonista_Ravenesque 02-25-2006 09:29 PM

Muse did a great cover of "Feeling Good" by.....um, I forgot, but it's great.

The Bitter End - Placebo

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 09:32 PM

They do some amazing covers: "House of the Rising Sun" "Cant Take My Eyes Off You" and the one you mentioned, of course.

Tristania - My Lost Lenore

Demonista_Ravenesque 02-25-2006 09:41 PM

Another good cover is

Venus in Furs - Christian Death.

It's a cover of A Velvet Underground song of the same name. Check out both versions.

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 09:47 PM

I've only heard the Velvet Underground version, and thats quite good so I will definatly check out the other. Speaking of good covers:

Switchblade Symphony - Nightshift.

Demonista_Ravenesque 02-25-2006 09:55 PM

Tina Root has an amazing Voice.

Chain - Switchblade Symphony.

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 09:59 PM

Yes, she most certainly does.

Switchblade Symphony - Dollhouse [Razed in black mix].

Demonista_Ravenesque 02-25-2006 10:04 PM

Razed In Black is an Awesome Band!!

This Is My Life - Combichrist

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 10:10 PM

Indeed, another band that does amazing covers. "Part of me" and Cherub Rock".

Apocalptica - Prolouge.

Demonista_Ravenesque 02-25-2006 10:16 PM

I never did like Apocalyptica.

In God We trust - Alien Sex Fiend

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 10:19 PM

Why not? If you dont mind me asking.

Bella Morte - Whispers.

Lackluster_Heavens 02-25-2006 10:24 PM

A very very good song Geisha.

Bella Morte - Angels and Faith.

anchyyy 02-26-2006 12:35 AM

Sonata Arctica - The Cage

cannibalnuns 02-26-2006 06:36 AM

I have a long road ahead.....

Fields of the Nephilim `Love Under Will`

`Through the cracks and hollows, the earth is good...`

pitseleh 02-26-2006 12:51 PM

Siouxsie & The Banshees - Jigsaw Feeling

Pathogen. 02-26-2006 03:15 PM

"Lullabye" by Christian Death [featurring Rozz Williams]. It's actually the original version of "Infans Vexatio" [from the album "Insanus, Ultio, Proditio, Misericordiaque"]. The version with Valor on vocals sucks hella ass! That & he uses a completely different chorus which didn't flow with the song's music too well. Again, fuck Valor. Rozz will always be the man!

Beowulf 02-26-2006 03:41 PM

Bathory `Blood Fire Death`

Bathory is one of my all time favourite bands, classic black metal at its best.

Lackluster_Heavens 02-26-2006 06:45 PM

X-Japan - Kurenai

FromTheHallow 02-26-2006 07:09 PM

The Amelie soundtrack by Yann Tiersen

*contented sigh* I love French accordion.

Lackluster_Heavens 02-26-2006 07:19 PM

That was such a wonderful movie. And the music from it was quite freakin' good.

Murderdolls - Dressed to Depress.

grimreaper993 02-26-2006 07:32 PM

Scum of the Earth- Rob Zombie

Cex - Kill Me

The one-man electronica/industrial/hip-hop project of one Rjyan Kidwell. I'm thinking this might be what the young Trent Reznor would have sounded like if he was more of a hipster, took himself less seriously and could actually articulate his angst beyond the realm of the vague and misanthropic.

WolfMoon 02-27-2006 08:04 AM

Pit, you crack me up!

Demonista, what does '00tziest' mean?

Path, I'm lookin' for that song!

pitseleh 02-28-2006 01:10 AM

Always glad to be of service, my lovely Wolfie!

I'm serious, though. I like NIN up until "The Downward Spiral" period, and I think "The Fragile" had some interesting sounds on it, but now I think he's just pathetic. His lyrics are banal, the melodies predictable, and his vocals ridiculously limited, with that annoying, breathy ending on every single line. He's basically become a parody of himself.

Bah.

Currently listening to the awesome Japanese hardcore band Envy. Specifically, their album "A Dead Sinking Story", from 2003.

Beowulf 02-28-2006 10:50 AM

Sabbat `A Cautionary Tale`

Pathogen. 02-28-2006 01:13 PM

"Enemy Inside" by Social Construct. Hocico/Velvet Acid Christ/Wumpscut-style Anarcho-Industrial. [Even Pitseleh would appreciate this!]

Shi'ark 02-28-2006 02:55 PM

Trivium. if you have their albums then your know that's all a need to say.

pitseleh 02-28-2006 03:58 PM

Cat Power - I Don't Blame You

Metatron 02-28-2006 04:04 PM

Space Odyssey - David Bowie

That sucks, I only know a couple of songs from 'Downward Spiral'. I like 'Pretty Hate Machine', though. Especially Terrible Lie.

Deviant Kitten 03-01-2006 01:05 AM

Hey! I love some of the lyrics on NIN's latest album! *pokes tongue out at pitseleh*
These ones are from "Right Where it Belongs":

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?

What if all the world's inside of your head
Just creations of your own?
Your devils and your gods
All the living and the dead
And you're really all alone?
You can live in this illusion
You can choose to believe
You keep looking but you can't find the woods
While you're hiding in the trees

Lackluster_Heavens 03-01-2006 02:16 AM

Tool - The Grudge

And after all these years I think I finally understand the part about saturn...wow.

Death101 03-01-2006 05:46 AM

Panzerchrist - Before Life
Chaoswave - The White Noise Within

Hehehe... Yeah, those are actually not too bad. What irks me though, is his general self-centered and pessimistic perspective, which hasn't changed one iota since the first album. I mean, I know money doesn't necessarily make you happy, but I find it hard to take this kind of angst seriously when it comes from a rich, respected and well-fed middle-aged man. Plus I have read some interviews where he generally comes across as kind of bitter and narrow-minded, which put me off him a bit.

On topic, I'm currently listening to a rather enchanting blend of Japanese folk music and psychedelia -

Ayuo & Ohta Hiromi - One Step Further; from the "Red Moon" album.

pitseleh 03-01-2006 08:19 AM

Bella Morte - The Quiet

From the album of the same name. Just had to add this, 'cause it's just so damn good!

Beowulf 03-01-2006 10:26 AM

Fields of the Nephilim `SlowKill`

Shi'ark 03-01-2006 10:30 AM

The song that I can’t stop lessoning to today is ”Yesterday” by Staind, it’s on 14 Shades of Grey. It describes how I feel about my ex girlfriend perfectly. Isn’t funny how when you fall in love a different kind of music that you never paid much attention too suddenly you get the meaning of . But then when you get f**ked over there also comes the other music to help you get over it.

Surely you mean Iron Maiden, `Hallowed be Thy Name` is on their `Number of the Beast` album :).
