MOC, sorry to hear about the job. I've been looking for work for a while, and the marketplace sucks.

On top of that, I just read about a recent study that determined that people who dislike their jobs strongly are still happier than people who are unemployed.

So ... yep. Setting my standards a little lower every day. And fuck those assholes that think a person needs a college degree to manage a sunglasses kiosk in the mall!

Ah this is the employer's market, where they can ask for ridiculous shite all the time...

Something will come up soon.

Murder.Of.Crows 03-24-2011 01:02 PM

I need a GED or better for fucking McDonalds, now granted I have a full diploma, but shit really, McDonalds? Not that I want to ever go back to working at a fast food joint.

ape descendant 03-24-2011 01:40 PM

Wow, it really is an employer's market....

Saya 03-24-2011 06:10 PM

So, if you're not in the know, we used to have a ridiculous romanization system for Mandarin known as Wade-Giles. Ever see the word "PeKing" or "Peking"? Thats "Beijing". Yes, P=B and K=J in this system. Taoism? Pronounced Daoism. Ridiculous, no? Anyway, its been largely replaced by the Pinyin system, and all is well.

Except I'm doing a paper on Cheng Yen, and one of the books I picked up switches between WG and Pinyin. Its from 2004, why would she do this? I wasn't sure it was about Cheng Yen because I had no idea what Zhengyan sounds like, but i took it home anyway. She keeps talking about Ciji which is actually "Tzu Chi". O.o

So, I'm wondering what would compel a horde of women to go to a club's bikini night when it's 30 degrees F outside.

Actually, I don't even care. I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Saya 03-24-2011 06:21 PM

Maybe its a theme party?

No, wait, Tzu Chi is WG. ARGH STOP CHANGING BETWEEN THEM.

Wow, I feel tired. Instead of staying up an editing, I might go to bed.

I wrote a book. Woooo! and it is even published soon.

Random question:

Where might I change the "Gothic.net Member" under my name? Or does that come with post count?

MissCheyenne 03-25-2011 01:46 PM

I'm going to be an aunty again in October.

Murder.Of.Crows 03-25-2011 01:50 PM

I'm going to be an uncle near the same time.

In fairness, the good shit was fucking beautiful and shouldn't have done that. I suspect it's the half-bottle of JD beforehand that led to the cramping and the shaking and the empty horror. Just too easy to get carried away haviing a good night with other drinkin' talkin' sort of folk.

Ben Lahnger 03-25-2011 02:04 PM

Versus. That. Picture. Is. Awesome!

I am acutely familiar. So how many times, this morning, have you told yourself that you would never drink again?

I liked it a lot, too. I was considering making it my avatar... but no. The search continues.

Fruitbat 03-25-2011 02:44 PM

Congrats MOC and MissC.. awesome news!

Got the house to myself for a few hours, not sure what to do first.. maybe I'll have a shower and then put on every item of clothing I own and sit on the back deck with a coffee and watch the kangaroos in the back yard... hmmm...
