its not a lit quote, but I have thought about "In This Moment, I am Within Temptation"with the logos of both bands.

Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand. - Karl Marx

I have Millay's "First Fig" tattooed on my back.

I'm also thinking about getting a Fountainhead tattoo soon, but not sure yet.

There is a painting by Suloni Robertson titled Gate to Hell with that quote. He actually has a lot of work inspired by The Inferno.

I like "first fig", but I wouldn't get that inked.

It would make a fantastic tramp stamp.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Dr. Seuss

LOL well, since I think tramp stamps are just that, I was thinking higher on the back, over the shoulder blades. Honestly, that painting is part of a back piece I've been giving a lot of thought to.

God ist tot

Still Jack 11-21-2009 04:01 PM

I hate to be pedantic, but that will make you look stupid. It's "Gott ist tot".

"Youth is the only thing worth having"

Actually getting this done soon down my side, I'll appreciate the irony of it when I can no longer read it when I'm a saggy skinned old man.

"to thine own self, be true."

That phrase has powered me for much of my adult life.

If I had to, probably something out of Heart of Darkness.

Love Heart of Darkness.

I would probably choose "To go wrong in one's own way is better than to go right in someone else's." from Crime and Punishment. There are a lot of quotes I like in that book though, so I'm not quite sure. I've also considered quotes from Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

Same here. Probably
"We live, as we dream - alone."
or
"The horror! The horror!"
The other ones seem a bit too long for a tattoo.

Pineapple_Juice 03-21-2010 04:16 PM

The problem is that all the good quotes...are good.
So everyone likes them.
So everyone has them.

For example, I've loved Sylvia Plath since forever, and I never knew how popular she was until about six years ago. I toyed strongly with the idea of getting "I Am, I Am, I Am" incorporated in a tattoo but everyone and their mama got that one.

Just like Vonnegut's "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt".

Think about it this way, when we're old our tattoos will sag and look bad, but no one can say anything if everyone in the nursing home has the exact same thing, amiright?

We're going to be a hilarious old generation. I'm sure even Malice can find a place where he won't look weird when his plug starts dragging down the rest of his face.

JethroAranas 03-21-2010 09:33 PM

Probably the whole book of Head game. In that case, I won't have to wear clothes and I can make sure that I'm the only one who has that kind of tattoo.

Entropic 03-21-2010 10:55 PM

I've always wanted four quotes tattooed, but I've settled on just getting two of them. Now it's to figure out which two.

"No human thing is of serious importance." - The Republic
"Where there is happiness, there is found pleasure in nonsense." - Human, All Too Human
"There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness." - Thus Spoke Zarathustra
"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." - Foundation

I'm getting a Sandman-based tattoo soon. It's gonna be great.

Underwater Ophelia 03-23-2010 06:32 PM

Sandman isn't literature.
