You're trying to sound all cute by winking and saying "thems" instead of them, but people are paying a lot more attention to your post being pointless :P

arc-en-gel 12-05-2005 10:41 AM

its hard to meet people who know them and don't care about them. i mean, u like or u dislike but u've got an opinion -obviously if u have any idea of who they are.
i actually love them, and i know why. :D

they've got a real specific style, indeniably inspiring with polithic, religion and social values i share (for most of them), and made truly full-meaning lyrics (if it means anything). Also, they make a freaken funny music, that's pretty hard to find today. In any case, i can't find any other band who make such sounds. They experiment a lot and changed widely from the beginning. But the thing is theyr'e still damned good.
does it answer to your question, Xnguela?

arc-en-gel 12-07-2005 01:35 PM

good point. two good points actually. i put religion, though i don't have any. And, although i think there are christians, it's not clearly shown.
i meant they've got ideas about religion i share sometimes. that may be better.

arc-en-gel 12-07-2005 01:45 PM

i can't say it better. That's the worst part of it.
just let me hope, please ;)

well, it seems like in the last album, they just wanted to have fun and "steal this album" was just songs they didn't want to put in the previous one.
then i don't know much more...

ugh... 12-13-2005 04:49 AM

System

I agree for an amazingly talented musicians they left the writing of their new album to the guitarist. They lost so much of what they had from Shavo and Serg. I think they heard that because Hypontize is 100% better than Mezmerize (though that is not saying much). I hope they create another cd as great as Toxicity some day soon.
That being said, I still loooove this band. They and Tool are my favorite non-goth musicians.

dreamforthedead 12-13-2005 07:08 PM

I like them too, on Mesmerize there is the worlds best lyrics hahaha "My cock is much bigger than yours" hehehe classic

Darkfeeling 12-24-2005 11:29 AM

I used to really like System Of A Down. I have their first album, Toxicity, and Mesmerize. I really didn't care much for their first album, but Toxicity and Mesmerize are kick-ass.

AlKilyu 12-24-2005 11:32 AM

WTF? Dude Toxicity was most certainly NOT their first album, it was System of a Down. Ever heard of Suga(r)?

Darkfeeling 12-24-2005 11:37 AM

How about you re-read my post, slowly and carefully, and notice how I did not label there first album as Toxicity.

Thankyou :)

Sanctus Dei 12-24-2005 11:55 AM

*muffled giggle* Oppsy Al??

Hmm, I'm rather taken with Toxicity and Mesmerize, but hypnotize hasn't impressed me much. ..Yet.

bedlam babe 12-24-2005 02:06 PM

I used to love that song-Arials but now( BARF,VOMIT) they have gone down

way down

gone from playlist totally

Inky 12-26-2005 03:46 PM

System of a Down are great when you're in the mood for some insanity. If you're looking for lyrics that make sense, don't go near them.

I like some of the tracks on their new album, but the first album is definitely their best. "Soil" is a classic.

(And there's a guitar solo! *shock*)

BloodLover 12-31-2005 09:46 PM

I only have their Mezmerize and their Hypnotize CDs. Both of them have their 'stand-out' songs but I love every song on both of them!!! I listen to them so much that I`ve almost memerized every word of every song. (hehe) SOAD RULEZ!!!

missbites 01-01-2006 09:47 PM

I enjoy the meanings that they put in their lyrics, but the music can get boring fast, but could also be because I'm always with my boyfriend and he constantly has Mezmerize on full blast.....

bitter_beauty 01-04-2006 05:12 AM

i love SOAD but i think they are going a little too commerical
serj is fit as fuck!!!!

bitter_beauty 01-05-2006 06:21 AM

huh? thats why I chose it duh! i wanted to see what id get and used it
where dya get yours?

Sorry luv, but both you and Al are right. Your post can be interpreted both ways.

I admit that System of a Down are about the only band that falls into that Nu-metal label that I really admire for vocal harmonics (guess someone actually learnt something from oldschool metal.

Hypnotize: nice. :)

Surgeon Méchant De Sang 01-07-2006 03:10 PM

I used to like them at one time, but then I quickly grew very bored of them, and thus used the cd as a coaster for my drinks.

Silent Tears 06-01-2006 02:56 PM

It is for me soad it is a very good sunset. She you become I do not love her propaganda..It tells it türks she adds slander I do not love it....It is her music and she criticizes the system I love it........Serj it is a cave sound it is super

Magpie_Tendencies 06-01-2006 03:17 PM

Hi Silent_Tears.

Why don't you head over to the introductions forum and make a thread introducing yourself, mk?

System of a down's first 3 albums were pretty good. IMO the self-titled album was the best, and after that they went downhill, and i cant really listen to their new album's for more than 3 minutes, before i change the playlist to something better. But, their unreleased stuff is excellent. Metro was the first song i ever learned to play on the guitar, so i'm inclined to think that SOAD can improove. Serj is an amazing lyricist, but their guitarist took over the song writing for the last two albums, and killed it for their last two albums.

Paper_Wings 06-03-2006 10:49 PM

I love system of a down. Old and new. I haven't had a chance to get their newest CD yet though :(

bjork_freak 06-04-2006 12:03 AM

I heard it isn't that great. Toxicity is the only one I own.

Corpsey 06-04-2006 12:09 AM

I heard it once, and once was enough to realise that it as okay. Just okay, nothing amazing like the first albums, which was really upsetting. I hoped that hypnotise might somehow differ to mesmerise, but it didnt.

Legacy of Wulf 06-06-2006 05:25 AM

I've been a fan of SOAD for a long time now.

I actually have one of their demo tapes from like '94 around here somewhere.

bjork_freak 06-06-2006 05:29 AM

Who came first: 10 Years or System of a Down?

My sister listens to 10 Years. I'm not familiar with them, but they sound like SOAD wannabes.

No idea who came first, but I can most likely find out.

SOAD have been around for a very long time, however.

To the search!

Legacy of Wulf 06-06-2006 05:33 AM

Search over...

SOAD definetly came first.

"10 Years is an alternative metal/hard rock band formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2002"

"System of a Down (sometimes referred to as SOAD, or System) is an alternative metal band that was formed in 1995 in Hollywood, California. Their name was inspired by a poem written by band member Daron Malakian entitled 'Victims of a Down'."

Not crazy - Fucking. Stupid.

S.O.A.D.? I used to like them, but got tired of it.

Death'sBaloneyChild - Please hook yourself up to a morphine drip and get someone to padlock the room. It will save you a lot of psychic pain later in life.

I totally agree. There has to be a reason for everything. Anyways, I like them for their riffs and politics. Songs like "War?" or "Boom!" have influenced much anti-war protesting. Besides that there music is great from the insane vocals to the fast paced mood of it all.

Twizted Whispers 09-01-2006 10:38 AM

I only like their older stuff.

ViciouslyBeautiful 09-02-2006 02:20 AM

I love SOAD. Insane vocals and one hell of a drummer. But yeah their older stuff is better.
