Most of the music I like is not gothy at all. I'm an Industrial boy first, then some nice techno (no I dont mean gay electronica or house), and then the gothy shit and after that some nice mellow cookie monster bands like Fear Factory and whatnot.
I also - hate to admit - recently listened to a country song that made me cry. no - I'm not making it up... |

hey, everybody who doesn't speak French says its the langage of love or whatever. Fuck me dead if i can understand that... i also tried to learn Hungarian but couldn't. too hard. so, eventually, i learnt German and Spanish but i'm good at none of them. In what style would you put "radio head" and "archive" or even "muse"? that's a kind of music i like too. |
I like all sorts of music. My Chemical Romance, AFI, Metallica, the used, sugarcult, mxpx, ACDC, The Clash, Radiohead, silverchair, smashing pumpkins, Elvis Costello, Slipknot, Deep Purple, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, finch and lots and lots of others...I love music
|
I like all of those bands except the used and MCR, and I havnt heard much of acdc

I'm a huge metalhead. I'm into all kinds of metal. Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Fear Factory, DeviDriver, Prong, and even one really awesome power metal band, DragonForce! I also like ICP quite a lot. Okay, don't hate me for it. I'm just being myself. Calm down...
Oh and I forgot to add I'm a huge rivethead too. I love the music of Paul Oakenfold and such, and like Industrial like Nine Inch Nails and also rave like Juno Reactor. As for alternative rock, I like all kinds. Collective Soul, Faith No More, etc. |
Good music other then goth.... um all the 80's hair metal, like gnr motley crue poison and shit like that. oh and Johnny Cash is always a good choice

I listen to all sorts of music. If anyone out there likes Joy Division, I recommend listening to Interpol. I know I will prob. be shot for saying that. They are one of my faves right now and I'm not afraid to say it, they are possibly BETTER than Joy Division...not to mention, the bass player is HOT!

Does anyone like Funeral for a Friend? They're a Welsh rock band, they verge on emo at times but I'm still pretty entranced.
|
Their music sounds to pretentious to me, so, I'm not quite fond of their music.
The song "Kiss and Make-up" kinda reminds me of Good Charlotte. |
I like what I've heard of FFAF, but I haven't heard much. From First to Last is wicked- I love "Ride the wings of Pestilence" (sp?). The Words are awesome.. The chorus is
"I'll hide you in my walls, Your body will nver be found I'll where your skin as a suit It's good to be you, Your friends will like you more than they used to." |
I like heaps of rock, most kinds of metal, good techno/electronica: Pantera, Metallica, 8 Foot Sativa, Hatebreed, Rob Zombie(not really metal, can only think of dark for it), Saliva, Cradle of Filth, Disturbed(pretty average crap if you ask me), Deftones, Lacuna Coil, Marylin Manson, CKY, longtime fan of Live(especially their album "Throwing Copper"), Flying Steps, VDT, Iron Maiden, Mega Death, Limb Bizkit, The Offspring, Guns and Roses. Oh and Cypress Hill. And may I just say like I have before, Slipknot sucks balls.
|
talon, you are awesome be my "special friend".
|
My favourite ffaf is Juneau. It's one of those songs that really gives me a feeling - reminds me of many a happy drunken Rock Night at uni. Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation is the best alb in my opinion, but I love most of their stuff. There're only a couple per album I don't like.
|
I want to recommend Wait for Sleep by Dream Theatre. Haven't heard anything else by them, but it's a fucking good song.
I also like metal (especially Rammstein), arabic (Rachid Taha, Cheb Mami, Cheb Khaled... They're all rai singers) and some Bollywood. I also like some classical, especially medieval/renaissance chants. |

Afterlife Beyond This Life Fatal Tragedy This Dying Soul Pull Me Under Solitary Shell Those are the only one's I can remember off the top of my head. But I like all there songs really.....Listen and see for yourself. |
Oh, I just thought of another one:
Dream Theater - Love Lies Bleeding. |
In addition to the songs by Dream Theater, Endless Sacrifice, Erotomania and Strange Deja Vu are also great songs.

I like certain metal bands (i.e Metallica, Paths of Posession, Chimaira), and a few punk bands (i.e 999).
|
"Gothic" metal is hardly considered goth here... So I suppose I'll have to say that. I also like a lot of other metal and punk. And rock.
|
Necroing is in bad taste.
Anyway, I am a huge rock/goth/psychobilly fan. My Holy Trinity consists of Elvis Presley, David Bowie and Siouxsie Sioux; which means I also love some glamrock, death rock (some consider this "gothic"), ambient/ new age, classical (especially opera; I do have a dislike for Wagner, though, for some reason) and baroque music, folk music, french chansons and art songs, mainstream rock/ pop a la Bryan Addams and Elton John, shoegaze, dreampop, showtunes, jazz (especially Swing jazz a la Sinatra) and doowop. Listing all my non- goth favourite bands and artists apart from those already mentioned would be quite a task, so I'll just jot down some: The Stray Cats, The Cramps, Pink Floyd, Joan Sutherland, Kiri Te Kanewa, Lush, Catherine Wheel, Devics... umm, not listing any composers this is all I can think of at the moment. |
I'm a massive metal fan. My favorite bands are probably Draconian, and Throes of Dawn
|
I tend to like ska, and I'm often listing to video game soundtracks that catch my fancy. And though I don't know much about it, I like jazz too...

On to the subject... I've dedicated my life to goth rock, but I love pretty much all kinds of music. I have a major love for stoner rock and stoner-doom, and I listen to everything from Kyuss and Electric Wizard to Spirit Caravan and Goatsnake. I occasionally enjoy metalcore, indie rock, new wave, punk rock, psychobilly, horror punk, pop punk, and even some rap and country. Just keep the trying-hard-to-be-gangsta-while-crooning-about-love-rap and the much-more-akin-to-bubblegum-rock-"country" out of my way, please. |

I like Puddle of Mudd's "She Hates Me" It's great, but I usualy listen to Metalcore. Ex: Atreyu, Underoath, Demon Hunter, Bullet for My Valentine, and From First to Last. I just usualy like every kind of music but country and rap.

What kind of complex do I think I'm expressing? A rather accurate one. |
Quote:
Yes, I have a superiority complex, but why not? It's hard not to in today's modern world. Why shouldn't I feel above those festering sacks of shit that make rebellion and individuality a trend; people that make a mockery of art? Besides, you'd have to be a Buddhist monk or something to be completely free of ego, and there aren't many people out there willing to become as such. |

I really don't listen to much goth rock.
I'm more of a black metal and hard rock fan. Meh. |
I listen to some Psychobilly and Punk/Horror Punk alongside of the usual goth and deathrock stuff. I also like some old school Industrial.
|
The whole bloody album CexCells by Blakq Audio (a side project of Davey Havok and Jade Puget of AFI)

Most heavy metal. I draw the line at the excessive death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus, they make my ears bleed. Classic rock and some folk (Gordon Lightfoot) are always nice for a change of pace.
|
the police are among my favorites.
|
I like the song "I'll Be Watching You" by The Police. Where music besides Goth is concerned, Grunge and (some) '80s music is amoung my favorites.
|
I'm a fan of cabaret-style music, cool jazz, trip-hop, and noise. I generally dislike standard euphonious guitar rock of any genre. It sounds boring to me. Post-punk and goth rock stand out more to me because of the sometimes dissonant sound and minimalist insturmentals.

As embarassing as it is to admit, I'm quite fond of Aqua's music now... *waiting to be jeered and or maimed for saying so* and I've also become interested in The Dresden Dolls and Sarah Brightman, oh, and Enya.
