Yeah that sucks...But just breath deep and take joy you will be out of there some day...And he stuck there for life..it sounds like he unhappy...I also read you said ipods are not banned...but may sure...look in the student hand book if you got one and see what it says....

Lucky... If they even see it at all then they take my Mp3. An iPod classic is gonna be a lot harder to hide...
They're banned at my school, along with phones which is annoying as hell.

I don't think the teacher meant offensive as in it was subversive or controversial music.

Regardless, stupid as the circumstances may be, perhaps you should just not listen to music for a while and let things die down? Or listen to instrumental music, with no lyrics present to even be considered offensive?

You're not allowed to have cd players inside of school. When you're in school, be it recess, lunch, gym class or study hall. CD players are not allowed.

^Good thing it was an mp3 player and not a cd player, and good thing its not banned at her school since it was that kind of music he was agaisnt, not the player itself.

I'm sure he would have taken it regardless of what it was. My theory is he just added that it was offensive to further justify his actions. Don't get me wrong. It sucks that this happened but he has the authority to do what he did.

Actually, I checked the school code and that is banned. No animals allowed in school, it's unhygienic.

Guys, I don't think you've been listening. I asked the principal, and he said it was fine for me to listen to my iPod during my lunch break, as long as I don't play it so others can hear. You can contradict me all you like, but it doesn't change the fact that I wasn't breaking the rules.

From what I can tell it is actually Voltaire, woooooooot woooot. Also I've never had that sort of problem but for years my school has been ridiculously strict with Ipods and cellphones. I think they would be less angered by someone with a machine gun...

I had similar problems in highschool. Teachers did not like me listening to what I wanted to. Some were even a little worried by it, which is pathetic. But at university, it's fine. I can put my speakers on loud in my room and my flat mates don't give a shit; even though they like to listen to other genres

Well, it's unfortunate about the scratch, and this teacher was obviously out of line. There are rules even teachers must follow, in spite of what some of them believe, and unless ipods or similar devices are specifically banned at the school, a teacher has no right to confiscate them. Especially if other students are allowed to listen to the music of their choice uninterrupted.

Teachers are there to teach and to enforce school policy. Additionally, if he doesn't behave like this with all of his students, I'd almost say this qualifies as harassment the way you've described it.
