Once again, Sarah Brightman is awesome as long as she's not singing Phantom of the Opera. That was irritating in my opinion.

I'll be sure to now. That adds another one to the growing list...

Have you listened to the album "Harem" by Sarah Brightman? If you haven't, I recommend you to do so at once.

Oh yes, I actually own "Harem." I also have "Eden" and "La Luna," too. =)

Good. :) I have those too, but "Harem" is by far my favourite.

L'Oiseau Noir 09-10-2007 07:04 AM

I like all three--Sarah Brightman has a brilliant voice.

badteccy 09-10-2007 11:22 AM

Sarah Brightman is wonderful.

NachtSorcier 09-10-2007 12:43 PM

I'm really picky about music - that is, I hate most of it. Besides goth rock, all I really like is a smattering of pop and rock from the '80s and early 90s. Chances are, if something was made before 1975 and after 1995, I hate it.

I do like some classical and new age music, though.

Stormtrooper of Death 09-11-2007 02:03 PM

PUNK ROCK! The Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Crass, Conflict, Discharge, The Misfits, DOA, Black Flag, The Casualties, Cockney Rejects, the list goes on and on. None of that Green Day crap though, they were NEVER punk!

homo-adonis 09-11-2007 02:40 PM

I have been rediscovering some very cool pshychedelic 1960s bands that were never mainstream.

biohazard 09-11-2007 08:34 PM

I mostly like metal, especially melodic death metal. Some of my favorite bands are In Flames, Dark tranquility, Job for a Cowboy, and Chimaira.

raggedyanne 09-11-2007 09:00 PM

I have an inexplicable attraction to Kanye West . . .

Wormboy 09-11-2007 09:26 PM

I don't think I own one single gothic song on my computer

I listen to a lot of rock and metal and such, of course classical, Mozart, Tchaikovsky especially, and occasional hip hop though it is immensly rare, no RnB, no (c)RAP, and for the record, Sarah Brightman has a fine voice until she tries to get really high, then it's painful

I love classical music, especially Mozart and Tchaikovsky. I also like Beethoven and Bach. =)

Oh of course, Beethoven was a master, but I still favor Tchaikovsky, the 1812 Overture still amazes me, not to mention... CANNONS!

My list of "besides gothic" music:

-KRAFTWERK ( these guys started all the electronic music or we would not have had EBM, techno, electro, or industrial.) I bow to them. :D
-80's music
-old school punk.
-Phantom of the Opera soundtracks.
-Beethoven and Mozart
-Rockabilly
-Enya.
-Charolette Church.
-Sarah Brightman.
-Enigma
-Delerium
-Underworld
-Pet Shop Boys
-Medieval Babes

That says about it.

I love Sarah Brightman, Phantom of the Opera, Beethoven/Mozart, and Enya! You have an awesome taste in music. =)

Why thank you and so do you. To me, Phantom of the Opera is my most favorite gothic love stories of all time. I love all versions (book, broadway and movie) and I did see the broadway about a year ago, it was awesome.

I remember listening to Eyna in the late 80's, I was hooked to her music and voice as to something I would hear when I am in that certain mood.

Thank you as well!

Yes, I love the romance of Phantom of the Opera--I found Erik very charming, in spite of the fact he was a bit insane. I wasn't too crazy about Raul, though (I think that's how it's spelled--if not, forgive me) and Christine annoyed me a bit at certain parts, but overall, it's a timeless classic. I've never seen it live (though I so badly want to), but I've read the book a total of three times, and I've watched the movie about five or six times because it's so masterfully done! I also like Sweeney Todd--something about a crazy barber who slits peoples' throats and turns them into pie is just so very weird, yet awesome all the same.

Enya's one of my favorite singers of all time because of how different she is as opposed to other artists. Her songs are all so very surreal and fantastical, and her music videos, every one of them in fact, are some of the most artistic ones I've seen. A lot better than those shitty rap videos you see where no talented "singers" flash cash and dance with a bunch of scantily clad girls. And that's every rap video I've seen.

Oh whatever happened to decency?

DarkGentleman 09-12-2007 11:57 PM

UGH! ::rolls eyes up:: rap music, omg, I absolutely CANNOT stand rap music (or videos) and you're right about their lack of decency.

Song about them getting involved in violence, sex, drugs and have lots of money. It's all negative bullshit.

I've gotten shot twice in my life, did I go making a song about that? no.

Moving on here. :D I would like to recommened you also read "Phantom" by Susan Kay, it's about Erik's life from when he was born to the time he met Christine. Damn good book!!

raggedyanne 09-13-2007 12:15 AM

Just listen to Stronger by Kanye West. It's a mix with The Daft Punk song. Quite interesting. I hate gangsta rap. I've had enough violence to the point where I just cannot see that as music. Tito Puente. Latin and classical guitar. I listen to a lot of obscure electronica, searching in vain for Paso Doble counts.

Haha, two times? You and Fifty Cent would get a long just great! (He got shot nine times or something).

Kidding, wasn't trying to make fun of it--I'm glad you're okay =)

And I most definitely will check that book out as soon as I get to Borders or Barnes and Nobles. It sounds like something I'd absolutely love.

It's ok, sometimes I laugh at myself saying "Next time someone wants to shoot me, aim for the head and be done with it". :D It was painful and scary, but I managed.

Patrick Wolf.

*sigh* that man is a genius. I know I go on about him, but his music really is worth giving a try. It ranges from big pop songs, piano ballads, classical, celtic and electro.

And he is a fantastic songwriter. I really want to catch him on his last tour.

;; Not yet!

I went to Borders, and the lady said someone bought the last copy. So I have to wait until they get more in, or just wait until I can get a day with my mom and bounce around a few different book stores. =)

I like rock/alternative, German folk music, good oldies, and punk. Hate rap, hip-hop, jazz, pop, and bad oldies.
