When I was a child, they had these cups of ice cream that was formed like spaghetti and with jam to look like pasta sauce. That was awesome.

It was the local supermarket - Kvickly I believe - that had them. No, it didn't, but it should have had! :P That would have been awesome.

I don't think its so out there, it make perfect sense once one takes into account the different sources of the Old Testament (and other books that aren't considered canonical by Protestants or Catholics or Orthodox) and date them historically, the reasons become clearer. A patriarchal tribal people take over a land, fight syncretism to preserve their national identity and religion (not so different as the religious right does today, or secular European countries) but as they are no longer fighting for mere survival, and start to prosper, that's when they start evolving morally and become concerned about things like poverty and equality.
