Jesus is the king of Israel

pothead 01-17-2013 02:37 AM

Jesus was burried in a tomb, and raised from the dead the third day

So, this is not a snarky question, I genuinely want to know. Is there "christian goth" music? I've heard Christian metal, Christian rock, and such so I was just wondering if it exists and if its any good. Figured you'd know, pothead.

On a serious note, I liked Savior Machine. "Love Never Dies" is rather lovely, and I love their singer's voice.

Also, I want to marry Moshe Kasher, for he is both beautiful and hilarious. <3

yeah they are pretty good, so hey why don't you become a gothic christian ? then... and so you like the gothic christian music ?

ape descendant 01-19-2013 10:26 AM

Because I don't believe in Christianity, or any religion for that matter. I'm rather happy as an atheist, I've decided that faith isn't enough for me, I need to be able to question things, to test them so I may better understand the world as it is.

It would be as unfair to ask me to live by faith as it would be for me to ask you to live without it. I think at some point we should be able to put proselytizing aside and just be people, I thought music would be a good place to start. :)

I haven't had a chance to check all the bands on that site out. I liked Savior Machine. I'm not sure what to think of Dark Valentine, their music sounds like its missing something to me.

To be fair, I like all sorts of music from different theological stances. If religion were to be decided by the kind of music one enjoys, I would either be pagan or a satanist, if it were decided by number of bands or albums. If it were just a mixture I'd be some sort of weird pagan-christian-satanic-deist-atheist-occultist, which I'm sure only sounds fun.

Speaking of magic and the occult, do you practice any sort of neato Christian white-magic?

I kinda find that kind of magic to be superstitious , how ever you spell it, but I use to play magic like games, and I have a best friend who is a gospel illusionist, and he taught me some magic , and he is friends with lance burton, they grew up together and pratice magic together, me I know some but I don't go for like black magic or anything like that just things to entertain, and I wish you would just give faith a try, I MEAN WHAT WOULD IT HURT ? sorry for the caps, but you never know till you try you know? but anyways I like some of the christian goth bands and maybe some christian screamo, although I don't consider we came as romans to be a christian band I like a couple of their songs, but they have christians in their band, but is this your first time listening to christian gothic bands ?

ape descendant 01-19-2013 05:57 PM

I already have given faith a try, I grew up in a Christian religion, gave it up to be an eclectic pagan and gave that up to be a naturalist.

To the best of my knowledge it is, I don't usually keep track of bands religious orientation.

I am curious as to why you think magic is superstition, but a big man in the sky creating, damning, torturing and killing at will isn't?

not all magic is but some is, and is killing a sin I ask? no it isn't but murder is a sin

Timeless Rebellion 01-22-2013 05:37 AM

What is the difference between killing innocents and murdering I wonder?
Your arguments once again fail to make any sort of sense.

Saya 01-22-2013 06:22 AM

Just popping in to say there was an argument in religion class over the true meaning of Pastafarianism. Like not joking argument, seriously got upset that someone was using the FSM as a symbol of multiculturalism and interfaith dialogue rather than a symbol of why all religions are bad.

I thought it was hilarious.

Timeless Rebellion 01-22-2013 07:10 AM

Oh my god :P Did they at least wear a pasta strainer on their head?

ape descendant 01-22-2013 07:53 AM

Verily, yea, arguing about Him and the reach of His noodley appendage is silly.

Hahahaha, sadly no. But it was funny how defensive over a joke people can get. But not totally surprising, Druidism apparently got its start in the states as a joke religion for atheists, but quite soon people took it seriously.

Timeless Rebellion 01-22-2013 10:48 AM

Well, Pastafarianism is not a joke, for He created the world by spinning His meatball into our Earth.
