Okay, guys, help me out here. I'm like super new to this stuff, and I was hoping you all could clue me in to some of the important "goth" stuff I should know. I'm not tryin to sound dumb, I'm trying to learn all I can so I don't look dumb. I mean seriously, what are some of the characteristical traits of a "goth person".?? I have tattoos, peircings, I wear a lotta black and White gold/onyx jewelry. Does that make me fit the profile? I'm just curious and eager to learn.

But no, its just a...thing, a movement of peoples with a different view than society would like us to have, more grotesque and questioning and understanding to the darkness that lurks within everyone's sould no matter if you want to deny it or not, the gothic subculture just chooses not to ignore it to set themsleves apart form those who hide at and have it kill them later on in life when they come home to thier spouse in bed with someone else.

To answer, what I think is your question: What is the explanation of why so many definitions of "what is goth" exist?
Many people have many opinions. I suggest reading some of the history about how the goth-scene started, it should give you some insight on the manner.

Also: Being lonely and/or being depressed has very little to do with being a goth in general.
