I totally see why you can't watch it without crying gulfcoastanthem!

I hate the obsession people have with NBC. I loved that film SO much when I was a youngen. I still do, but I hate that I see 'Jack' everywhere! T-Shirts, Bags, Tattoo's - dah! Just ruined it for me.

I can't wait for Sweeny Todd either. Depp is absolutely amazing - anyone seen Cry Baby? So funny! [Sorry to go off subject *overts eyes to ground*]

I agree! I'm with the crowd of peeps who loved Tim Burton since they were little kids and hadn't the faintest idea what "gothic" was. It's sad to me that Burton's work has become such a big trend among Emo and Gothic subcultures, but really only because I have a hard time thinking of his movies in any context other than that of shiny, rosy childhood memories.

YES YES YES. I agree. The original was gold, the new one can suck it.

I always found the original to be terribly boring. Not an awful movie, but the remake just seemed more inspired.

Good goth... I can't stand the remake, either. Even Depp looked humilating in that film. Almost like Michael Jackson... *shudder* and it's a shame because 98% of the work he does is usually very well done. That applies to both Depp and Burton. Ugh.

Oh, but imagine him having Forbidden Zone for his debut. That film was a work of art.

In what way...? I mean, it was cool and all, but I don't know.

Vyvian Blackthorne 08-13-2007 02:52 PM

Guess it's just the art-style. I mean, definitley not for his recent work; but the two kind of have the similarity. I think I missed something. I may be more fond of Danny Elfmann then I am of Burton...

Tim Burton is a genius. Beetlejuice is my favorite so far. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was funny and The Nightmare Before Christmas was good. I really want to see Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands. My dad and I love his movies.

Crystal Sorrow 08-26-2007 02:09 AM

The only one of his movies I never really took in was The Corpse Bride. I tried but in truth something always kept me from it. I either fell asleep never finishing it or bad weather would come along and take to killing the power. Once we had tornado warnings out, I turned it off for that. I finally made it through.. and well needless to say I can see why these forces were against me watching it. It just wasnt as good I thought.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned. Can't be arsed reading back. New Burton movie comes out at Christmas this year - Sweeny Todd. Should be fantastic. Depp's in it, no surprise there. Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman have parts too - joy of joys. I can't wait. :D :D

I love Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Corpse Bride. I have not seen the new version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Tim Burton is indeed awesome.

I also loooooove Johnny Depp, and I cannot wait to see Sweeney Todd! Turns out he has a great singing voice too! *drool* We need a seperate thread for Sweeney Todd. Someone... anyone?
