pussycat dolls.

Okay I know, they're completely manufactured and their not goth etc etc etc. But damn, their songs get stuck in my head. I'm just loving "when I grow up"!

Anyone else here like the pussycat dolls? Or any other "bad" pop for that matter?

PortraitOfSanity 08-18-2008 01:23 PM

No. Go sit in the corner until you've seen the errors of your ways.

Unimatrix 00 08-18-2008 01:25 PM

Ah lighten up! I am able access music based on it's "substance" as well as what I just like to listen to. I dont have much respect for the pussys, but I do like listening to them sometimes.

Well it's not uncommon for these kinds of shitty groups to be mentioned here. Rhianna and the Jonas brothers are another two that have been talked about here.

I also hate the PCD

Renatus 08-20-2008 02:46 AM

Eh at least we haven't seen a Hillary Duff thread..... yet.

Note:the person who does start that thread should take out a life insurance policy, their loved ones wont have to wait long to use it.

LiUsAiDh 08-20-2008 02:53 AM

I was going to make some jibe at that song that they did that stuck in your head...

But I can't remember it, so I guess they suck at that too.

Something about girlfriends..... fuck it.

Sir Canvas Corpsey 08-20-2008 03:04 AM

Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me....?

Did they do that....?

JCC 08-20-2008 03:09 AM

Now I have it in my head >_>

Squirm.....

Cringe....

No good, it won't go :(

Bete Noire 08-20-2008 03:56 AM

This is ridiculous. This, jonas brothers and Rhianna in the first page of the bloody music forum.

What the fuck?

You know what folks?

Get the fuck over this, they're a band you don't like, and they generally have meaningless dribble-lyrics...

That doesn't warrant all of this hate...

Christ, it seems like as soon as there is any band that the general mass of the forum appears to dislike, it immediately evokes some sort of hate orgy where everyone vents their pent up stress.

Everyone's just talking about not liking the Pussycat Dolls. In the thread about them. What else should we do, just stay quiet? Change the subject? Pretend we like them so that we meet your positivity quota?

Wednesday Friday Addams 08-20-2008 04:57 AM

Talk about what I quoted. Much better subject.

LiUsAiDh 08-20-2008 04:58 AM

I'm hot. :D

What I'm talking about is; "OMG poppy rap women with bad lyrics lets all commit suicide because we can't handle the fact that it was brought up"

For example; Geo is a nice person, I think at least some of us agree on this, however, why shouldn't a band appear in a music section of the forum, goth or not, it's still considered music (as much as some could argue). This comment can also be spread to Bete Noire.

If you're going to slaughter them, at least do it by picking them apart intelligently, it gives me something to read and lessens the growing view that some of you just like to jump on band wagons and don't actually have minds of your own despite claiming otherwise.

Well, they aren't even a band, seeing as they don't play instruments, and they're not even a singing group, because only one of them actually sings. That just confuses me about them. Why are they presenting themselves as a group if only one sings? The others just dance in the background. So is it better to just watch a music video than to listen to the album seeing as only one of them is singing? Isn't the music itself a solo endeavor? Whats going on? Where am I?

Besides that the lyrics are just......awful........but I guess if it weren't for them Weird Al would have just a slightly less hilarious polka.

Sir Canvas Corpsey 08-20-2008 05:21 AM

Thankyou for at least giving some basis for dislike

PortraitOfSanity 08-20-2008 05:22 AM

Usually with this band, the basis for dislike is presumed to be already known.

Sir Canvas Corpsey 08-20-2008 05:29 AM

Assumptions let the pack rats (with whom I have no problem with as long as they know that they are and admit it) hide in the mob and keep up their facade.

Yes, I've been bitten by the individualism elitism bug and by the maple demon I hope the effects wear off soon.

Mir 08-20-2008 08:16 AM

That was very well articulated. Your views mirror mine in that respect, but are not confined to just music. Imho.

Unimatrix 00 08-27-2008 10:36 AM

Okay, so the pussies didn't go down well here. But you have to admit that "When I grow up" has a fab beat to it. And I'm sure not as many of you hate it as you say. Many people here just go with what most people think. I'm sure if most said that they're innovative or something, others would follow and give them some merit.

Cicero 08-27-2008 04:40 PM

My friend was putting together a song for a media project using pre-set beats and instrumentals from some music program. He had to do a genre he wasn't a fan of, so he chose overtly sexual 'slag-pop'.

Anyway the pre-set instrumental he chose just happened to be the exact one used on repeat through an entire Pussycat Dolls song. So that's where they get their music from... How talented.

Corpsey 08-28-2008 03:47 AM

I just realised who made the "When I grow up song" that is constantly played at my polytech.

Ih. They made me cringe when I heard the song that was created for 'women empowerment' called "I don't need a man". That's what I dislike them so much for, for if a generation of young women have to grow up believing that such tripe is actually empowering for women, they would be the people who are responsible for started misdirecting such young minds.

Geoluhread 08-28-2008 04:17 AM

Corpsey, it's the first time i ever hear that their songs are to empower women, because i just think it's awful to empower women by a bunch of strippers...
I mean, come on... All girls aren't blessed with good looks, and if one of the less fortunate girls got married to a guy, all she's left to wonder "why doesn't my husband look at me"
HE'S BUSY LOOKING AT STRIPPERS!! So called artists... Shame on them, and on every "artist" who gets cheap girls to shake ass, or who sings and shakes ass...

I think that's a bit of a stupid assumption Uni. I think that with music like this finding any number of fans of it in the gothic subculture is one hell of a long-shot.

I know, it's pretty fucking absurd, it was just something a few of my girlmates were talking about one day. We all came to the conclusion that we hadn't heard a true women empowerment song for quite some time, the last being (that they recalled) was "I don't need a man".

Saya 08-28-2008 02:18 PM

Sadly, they are trying to be empowering to females somehow *sigh*.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/05/ar...rssnyt&emc=rss

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/152...at_dolls.jhtml

I“There’s a reason why people like Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani, Cameron Diaz have all been so interested in what Pussycat Dolls is all about,” she said. “They feel that it is empowering to get up there and dress up like a Doll. It’s fun, and it’s something that every girl in the world — she may think one thing, but I think inside every girl in the world wants to do it.”

*facepalm*

Solumina 08-28-2008 02:37 PM

So looking like a stripper is now empowering? Yay *eyeroll*

Saya 08-28-2008 02:41 PM

I thought looking to Gwen Stefani for validation was pretty bad to. "You mean the lady who hired Japanese girls to follow her around and made them sign contracts not to speak english in public thinks you're a good female role model?"

Geoluhread 08-28-2008 02:47 PM

"dismiss immediately whatever pornographic inferences such a performance might bring to mind"
Is it anything BUT pornography?

And about the second one, of course that guy Will will be happy with the message that that song holds, because lots of guys will be playing with there things alright!!

Unimatrix 00 08-29-2008 09:47 AM

Well whatever you say you have to admit that they're very talented dancers. In the "When I Grow Up" video, they dance to perfect synchrony.

Duane 08-29-2008 10:55 AM

Duane thinks the Pussycat Dolls are hot, but nothing more.

Whenever a video by them is showed, I'm too shameful to watch... So honestly i never watched the whole thing of that song you talk about, but i've seen previous .:Ehm:. "work", they are better off doing what they were doing in the first place, which is stripping and so...

And There are many much more talented dancers than they are who aren't sluts...
