Your Style

I wanted to know if anyone here has their own style of gothic dress. If you're not industrial, victorian, or rivethead, then what exactly are you? My style is red dragon; based completely on my alter ego. The style is defined by red being the dominant color over black (instead of the other way around). Also, I tend to wear a lot of dragons on my body. T-shirts, jewelry, etc. I also like wearing spikes when I'm wearing that style. Sometimes, though, I just go all-out industrial. Does anyone else have their own style?

Phayte 12-22-2005 10:24 AM

I wear what I want.. whether it's my hubbys t-shirt or black lace, but if I have to pick on thing I would say I love black lace with red under it and black crystal jewelry. I think my look is slightly victorian, but I'm not sure. I have nothing in real life to compare myself to.

horrorgirl 12-22-2005 10:55 AM

I wear whatever is clean at this point. I work way too much and never have time do do anything social. I usually shop for groceries in my pajamas if that tells you anything.

BlackWidow 12-22-2005 11:00 AM

I am the same- I wear what I want. But I usually try to match the reds and the blacks. If I wear red and black pants, I wear a red and black shirt. Duh. I like lace and fishnet. I like to creat new trends and styles, especially with my hair.

Scythan 12-22-2005 12:00 PM

I enjoy knee-high and thigh-high socks. They have designs or stripes on them, and I try to wear something that shows them off as much as possible: normally skirts. I don't wear really short skirts, so I end up not showing skin at all. When I wear those, I don't care much about what I wear as a shirt.

Another thing I like to do is wear formal pants, with a formal shirt. I tend to look like I just walked out of a corporate office, but I wear black eyeliner and can pull it off without looking dumb.

Usually, though, I just end up wearing whatever.

Bride_Of_Satan 12-22-2005 12:21 PM

I think I'm more Victorian Gothic than anything. I wear laced bustiers and frilly skirts. I often like to wear fishnet gloves and black combat pants. I don't wear hooded tops with band names splattered across the front - I don't know about anyone else but I think that's a punks style rather than Gothic.

horrorgirl 12-22-2005 01:21 PM

I plan on buying a TSOL hoodie this month so I guess I'm not 'goth'.
*Starts crying while rolled up in a ball in a corner*

Metatron 12-22-2005 02:11 PM

Can someone please update on the use of TSOL as an acronym? What the hell does it stand for...? I know there's The Soundtrack of Our Lives, but isn't that TSOOL? I don't keep up with the use of acros.

katsumy 12-22-2005 05:24 PM

My style is kinda "dificult" because it goes from punk to goth -a mix I'll say- :) But I just LOVE it that way is "play full" :)

Disfunction 12-22-2005 06:40 PM

My style is a self-manufactured concept; I'll buy whatever I find in a variety of stores, some portions of which would be labelled as "preppy" some "gothic" and others somewhat undefined. If I see it, and I like it, I'll buy it. If I can't afford it, I'll get something like it.

I'm in love with clothes.

True Sounds Of Liberty. LA old school punk band.

I'm guessing she means "True Sounds of Liberty", one of the original hardcore punk bands..

Or "That Smells of Licorice".

Could go either way really..

NyQuil of Doom 12-22-2005 07:07 PM

My style is whatever the heck I feel like, although more often than not I end up with a short-sleeved T-shirt over a long-sleeved one (often the short-sleeved one features an odd or witty saying, and the long-sleeved one is usually solid black, solid grey, solid red, or striped), black flare or boot-cut trousers of some sort, and my combat boots.

I also wear a fair bit of velvet.

angleangel_doom 12-22-2005 08:19 PM

Art freak cyber Jap style.
'Tis my only love. Once ina while I will wear my rave junk, once in a while my Victorian stuff...once in a while a big sweater(but a lot more often now that it's cold as fuck here), once in a while an anime tee, and once in a GREAT while just a t-shirt and some jeans.
There. I said it.

winged_dreams 12-22-2005 11:35 PM

My style is comfortable and lots of layers in winter. I usually wear jeans. I wear various anime, band shirts, and girly shirts when the weather permits. I wear black hoodies and black short boots. Simple style. ^^

Demonista_Ravenesque 12-22-2005 11:44 PM

When I'm at home, I'm usually parading in jeans or mini shorts and a band shirt, When I'm at a concert, I dress in a well....*cybergoth* or *candy raver* kinda way, in Public...I dress like what I wear to concerts but if I'm too lazy to put effort it, just random bits of punk and basic stuff will do.

winged_dreams 12-22-2005 11:45 PM

I don't dress to attract attention (at least not that I'm aware of). I hate when I think people are staring at me.

Sanctus Dei 12-23-2005 01:37 AM

Well this depends on if I have a day off of work. It's usually a t-shirt and pants. But in public I would call it classic/******/sex kitten type gear. I love corsets, skirts, combat boots, fishnet...etc. BUT I'm lazy.. really lazy. (not to mention broke as hell)

winged_dreams 12-23-2005 01:40 AM

Heh. I'm broke too. Stupid expensive college.

Jazzaram 12-27-2005 12:37 PM

I don't realy call my style anything, but it is prity unique. It's mostly casual, with jeans, black, white, and green t-shirts, silk and cotton shirts of all colors, and sometimes jewlrey with dragons, wolves, and/or cobras on them. Like my intrests, my cloths are a mesh of goth, hippi, punk, and wiccan influences.

xXambivalenceXx 12-27-2005 01:26 PM

pretty* Sorry... it bothered me.

As for my style, it does change. Sometimes I wear a "sophisticated" outfit, or so a friend says, which is just a white blouse, my glasses, black slacks, and whatever necklace I feel like picking up with my black/white houndstooth jacket. Sometimes I'm casual, like today, with blue jeans and a "Crab Scrambly Little Red" tee, or playful in my black pants and corset top. Really, I just wear whatever I'm in the mood for...

Rhapsody 12-27-2005 01:27 PM

There was a comedienne who said, “I base my fashion sense on what doesn’t itch”.

I have to agree.

Bete Noire 12-28-2005 12:19 PM

I wear comabt boots. Baggy trousers. *Watches his Goth Point Counter plumme*. And usually a plain short-sleeved t-shirt over a long-sleeved one. Not greatly original I know. But I'm only 14. I have time to learn...

Needled 12-28-2005 12:28 PM

Baggy hoodies, skinny jeans, and polka dotted flats. I love polka dots and flats, so my polka dotted flats are probably the best thing i have in my closet. I also like to wear band tees with colorful striped t-shirts underneath them. I used to always wear miniskirts with fishnet stockings and converse... my style changes all the time...

Tall One In Black 12-28-2005 01:51 PM

I guess I could label my style "practically gothic" - meaning I wear clothes that are practical (comfortable, easy to take care of) while still being somewhat gothic.

For example, practical means:
All of my clothes are machine washable, no ironing required.
All of my shoes and boots are comfortable for walking.
The vast majority of my tops are stretchy knit to accommodate my wide shoulders.
I generally stick with simple styles that can be mixed and matched easily.

gothic:
Most of my clothes are black. (This is also practical.)
I mix in lace, velvet, satin and tulle when appropriate.
My jewelry is gothy silver.
I wear striped tights or fishnets instead of plain tights.

euclis_dian 12-28-2005 05:26 PM

I like a more semi-formal look at times, and at others, an elegant look...just check the picture post to know what I mean xD

eyesofatragedy 12-28-2005 05:37 PM

Eh, I kind of wear whatever is clean. I do have a nice stock of Hello Kitty Shirts (or any shirt I like) and I usually wear lots of jeans and my addidas shoes. Don't really black so much since I don't work in a office setting anymore. (*sniff I'm not goff!:D)

I really don't know what my style is. Ask Al, maybe he can clarify.

Metatron 12-29-2005 06:03 AM

I wear a lot of black, but I also wear a lot of blue, green, brown, and occasionally red. I like to look different. Period. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing someone wearing the exact same thing as me. So...I customize my clothing; add fabric, sew things on, etc. I'd have to say the way I dress is half indie, half goth.

RaidoHaglaz 01-25-2006 12:58 PM

Usually just simple plain black, black jeans and tees, usually band shirts, sometimes a decent shirt, also black, when I try to be taken seriously.
I'm sometimes forced to wear blue jeans when the black trousers are gone, which mean my black jeans and army trunks. I like to wear a skirt, it's just not always that practical, bicycle and all.
I also have one, yes people, count it: one, piratey cliché goth shirt hanging in the closet, I just don't bother to wear it much, because of the annoying strings.

mollydanger 01-25-2006 02:15 PM

I wear.... Baggy t-shirts.. My fave one says "keep your freedom amerika"
and Black skirts... with Skull patten knee high socks..
Black and pink nail polish.... And chuck taylors

What's a Meatle Spike Cuff?

Is that like a Pork Chop tied in a circle?

RaidoHaglaz 01-25-2006 02:37 PM

I just noticed, I just wear too much freaking black. I'm way past stereotypical... Maybe I'll go hunt down a red shirt or something, apparently I can sport red as well as black. Don't know about blues, though.
Man, I feel pathetic, I guess you actually can have too much of a good thing.

What the fuck is amerika supposed to mean, you slanderous asshat?

Persephone 01-25-2006 06:39 PM

I usally wear whatever hits my fancy... or whatever is out first... it depends on how much time I've got... usually jeans, t-shirt and a shirt or sweater on top and my dear, dear silver rings.

Then again sometimes I want to scare the... ehem.. daylights... yes.. out of my mum and wear white tee and blue jeans and white flats and no eyeliner...
(It ALWAYS gets interesting reactions out of people who know me... they think I go into depression; they don't know how to handle me just because I'm wearing different stuff from usual and treat me like I was C4 or something... it's quite amusing actually)

Surgeon Méchant De Sang 01-25-2006 06:41 PM

Usually a black suit, with various jewel toned shirts to choose from. My favorite right now is a bright red blouse. I pair that with a nice pair of dress shoes, with red lips and nicely defined eyes (Example - the eyeliner from Wolfmoon's avatar, but a little more smokey on the bottom.)
That, or a black skirt, nice black stillettos with small studs going around the ankle, some velvety shirts, satin blouses, or just a regular blouse.
I usually like to keep the jewelry small, and simple. Such as my oynx pendant, or ruby pendant, or an opal, ruby, diamond, or onyx rings.
On days that I don't feel like dressing up, I'm usually in a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt.

cannibalnuns 01-25-2006 08:48 PM

I usually stick to jeans, white under shirt, Doc's, leather wrist cuffs (brown I add), plenty of rings and on some days none. Oh and my Danzig belt. I love that belt.

But I have an extensive collection of kilts I wear on special occasions and on dates when I might get lucky. But I just think they are comfortable, try one on and you will see.

But in all honesty, I do not really have any particular style. Depends on how much I want torture I want to put myself through getting ready that day.

Speaking of kilts, a guy I used to work with has a kilt. Woot for men in skirts! :)

RaidoHaglaz 01-26-2006 12:46 AM

Yay for me then! :)
And, men, he's right you know, they are comfortable.
I don't have a kilt though, I'm no scot, so no kilt is making it's way in my closet, at least not one with clanstripes, I think that's just plain ignorant and rude to the people to whom the design has a meaning.

Blushing Heliophobe 01-26-2006 02:37 AM

My favorite outfit is a black wifebeater and boy's carpenter jeans. I buy beaters and dye them so my bra doesn't show through.

In the summertime I like black tube tops with anything.

In the winter, just jeans.

I have skirts and dresses I wear to dressup stuff, and for that kind of thing I like to wear knee length skirts/mary janes or dresses.

I have a fetish pair of heels, but I mostly wear skate shoes, chucks, or flats.

I very much like black but I also wear browns, khakis, and greens. Neutral colors are nice.

And I wear pink undies and bras.

Saya 01-26-2006 10:13 AM

I usually wear black skirts with a black tank top, with knee high socks. When I'm just bumming around, I wear black pants (I hate jeans) with more than likely my Emily The Strange hoodie to cover my really old faded t-shirts ^_^ my favourite shoes are my ballerina slippers that I wore to prom, I dunno how to walk in heels ^_^. I'm getting sick of all the black, though, its just very hard for me to find anything I like.

IlGato_DiDiablo 01-26-2006 01:28 PM

I wear anything that fits me right, I'd never wear pants that would make my skin hang from the sides, that's just disgusting. I'll usually add something to my jackets and shirts so it wouldn't be just plain black. I hate heels and jeans, I can't wear either. All my boots are flat, but most of the time I'd wear skate shoes. Generally, I'll go with anything that suits me and what I like! I'm really just myself ! :)

peeves 01-28-2006 04:52 PM

I'm 16, and broke so what ever my parents are willing to buy. I've been adding studs to everything cause I got a bunch for christmas and they're fun to pound into clothes. Most of my shirts have a funny saying or a skull on them and I wear whatever pair of shoes is most in tact. I have three and they're all relitivly new but I have to patch them up alot because I tend to destroy shoes pretty quickly but I don't know why.
