What's your favourite non-goth band? Preferably your favourite and most obscure band.

For me, Funtastic Power! is one of my favourite bands. I don't know why but I love the whole high-energy remix thing.

I'd say probably Crass.
Or Send More Paramedics...

Foo Fighters, although Pixies and Placebo are pretty up there too.

All of my favourite bands are non-goth bands.

I'd say Queen or The White Stripes.

Pixies, Tom Waits, the Knife recently.

It's a toss up between 80's pop and new wave like Adam and the Ants, Dead or Alive, Eurythmics, Billy Idol... and all the stuff I listened to as a pre-teen (and still love) like Placebo, AFI and the Distillers.

I also really like Tool and A Perfect Circle, haven't listened to them in ages.

Oh and I'm pretty keen on a lot of shoegaze bands, LSD and the Search for God and My Bloody Valentine in particular.

And I really love Hole.

Fuck this, I can't pick singular favourites of anything anymore.

Probably The Prodigy, or maybe Me first and the gimme gimmes, or, Motörhead

Seriously, though - Ian Anderson is a genius. I love Songs From the Wood, it's such a pretty album.

I can't decide between Gitane DeMone, the Dead Kennedys, Diamanda Galas, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Smiths or Joy Division.

Locomotive Breath is the most awesome song with an electric flute in it. Ever.

System of a down they were the band that got me away from the "music" of rap and hip-hop

Lady Gaga. I'm hooked.

Rap and hip-hop as are much music as System of a Down are.

80's pop music. My mum still plays it all around the house.

I received their album "Blood Mountain" as a gift one year. I sat down and listened to the whole thing beginning to end..twice!

Their albums are always some sort of story. One is about the tale of Moby Dick, another is about a man climbing a mountain, pursued by wolves and other foul beasts to return a crystal skull the the peak.

I just wish I had all of their albums, I'd devour them in an instant.

I hope this person has already left...

I'm very much into Imogen Heap at the moment. Apparently I have a terrible taste in music but I love the Prodigy too.

Personally I can't stand Lady gaga.

My favorites would probably be Evanescence, Nirvana, Eve 6, and Five For Fighting.

I can't stop listening to Bat For Lashes.

The Smiths, which aren't goth and so happen to be my favorite band ever!

I cannot pick favorites, period.

My favorite band of all time is Modest Mouse. Just one of the most original sounding bands out there. I also like glassjaw, coheed and cambria, Sigur Ros, and Pinback....and Wu-tang clan

Iron Maiden or Arch Enemy. By far.

So many suggestions that are good music. Personally I also like Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy. All of these are incarnations of hard rock rhythm guitarist and vocalist Max Cavalera. Dead Can Dance is cool. Also Dimmu Borgir and Entombed, especially the Clandestine album. Runners up are Rage Against the Machine, Helmet and Deftones. Cyko Miko, Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies which are projects by Mike Muir.

Either Depeche Mode or Joy Electric (along with the countless number of 80's new wave bands)
