For I long time I have been pretty emo, not goth but emo. But now I am like cheery and happy, I think it is because I am pretty much an adult now and to mature to classify people into cliches, which I think is dumb High School shit. Death is not fun or interesting to me. I LOVE life and all it brings though it is unfair. I just take what life gives me and don't ask for anything more.

I am here cause my girlfriend is here, but she quit cause all of the people here seem to be ignorant and judgmental. Funny you get pissed at preps for being judgmental and rude but you the exact same. Preps and Goth like different things but are both judgmental, rude, idiots that don't give anyone a chance because they are different.

I am different, I don't judge people for what they listen to or how they dress. It is stupid to do so. Anyone who does is an idiot. I have no idea what people classify me as now but I know my girlfriend used to be goth, she started dating me, she became happier and cheerier, so I believe I have a positive affect on people.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Goth, as it's been explained Ad Nauseum on these boards, is a sub-genre and subculture of people who like music appearing in the 80s known broadly as Goth Rock. Depressed people are just that, depressed. Further more, a good deal of Goth music is campy and fun.

To bad it has become mainstream now, it is no longer a sub culture. Idiots have abused it and made it mainstream and a normal cliche.

So idiots making it a cliche means you should totally ignore the correct use of the word and jump along with the cliche?

What is the point when 90% of people declaring themselves Goth are posers?

I'm just here to discuss the goth portion of today's argument. But honestly where did you hear that to be a goth you have to be depressed? Sure we do get depressed once in awhile, but who doesn't? Most if not all people get depressed at one time or another, doesn't mean they're all goths too.

That's called a generalization, and like most, it's false.

Just because you and your girlfriend had "depression" doesn't make you goth. Just because some idiot at a mall calls you "goth" doesn't make you goth.

I don't declare myself to be Gothic ... claiming any such label is meaningless to me. I do happen to like some things that are Gothic, and I happen to like this community. Most of what the original poster has stated is labeling, stereotyping and pretty insulting to some people, and to top it all off ... it IS whiny and bitchy.
