Memorable video game songs/themes
 

This is a bit on the geeky side here, but I'd like to it put up for discussion:

Does any tune/song/theme/whatever from any old skool video game ever have a constant tendecy to get stuck in your head, even if it's been years since you've heard it? Which one(s)?

For me, it's Dave's Theme from Maniac Mansion.

The Super mario Brother's theme is my ringtone....

Any music from Final Fantasy makes me feel awesome!

Simple and Clean from the beginning of Kingdom hearts is sexier than Brian Molko!

Splatter House 2 for Sega Genesis. Maybe even the theme song from Friday the 13th for the original Nintendo.

Oy... now that I'm really thinking about it, there were some good tunes from the old Mega Man games (1, 2, & 3) for Nintendo as well. The one for Gemini Man's level was my favorite.

The theme from the N64 game Banjo Tooie.

Chrono Cross has *awesome* music. So pretty.

If we're talking about what gets stuck in my head, I'd say any of the music from Smash Bros. (super, not melee) or Katamari Damacy.

Mega Man! I hear ring tones in class that make me think of Mega Man, then I have the urge to play it. I love that robot boy, but not in a robo-sexual way.

How in diddly barn is that Hamster song part of a game?

The tetris song is by far my favorite olde videogame song. Followed very closely by the mario one.

Does nobody remember the Street Fighter 2 theme songs but me? Especially Guile's theme...that's the most memorable of the most memorable right there.

It may not be old school, but I have a slight obsession with the Halo2 theme. Sweet guitar solos.

I think the most memorable video game song for me is "Zelda's Lullaby" in Legend of Zelda: OOT, I haven't played the game for probobly 5 years, but I still remember the song vividly.

The Hyrule Overworld Theme from LOZ and the FF Victory Fanfare shall forever be engrained inside my skull.

Although I'm suprised nobody has said the theme to Lylat Wars (StarFox 64) or Bowser's Theme from SM64.

Or even better yet, the underground theme from Super Mario Bros, officially the funkiest old-skool tune ever. Doo-dot doo-dot doo-dot!

Yeah...the Super Mario Brothers underground theme has actually been used as a rap beat once or twice.

Few of the most memorable would be definitely the old Amiga/Commodore game themes, such as "Great Giana Sisters", "Lotus I, II and III", "The Duel: Test Drive II" and of course "Jumping Jackson". Mega Man musics should never be forgotten, either! Ah, the nostalgy...

Of the more recent tracks, I should mention "Yojimbo battle theme", "Auron's Theme" and "Otherworld" from Final Fantasy X, and "Moonlit Wilderness", "Unforgiven", "Ka-En-No-Mai" and "Opening song" from Tekken 5.

I like the music that's played inside the Friendly Arm Inn in Baldur's Gate 1, it's very catchy. And the other Black Isle Forgotten Realms games have all-around good music too; especially the fight theme in Balder's Gate 2 and the general theme song for Icewind Dale.

I love the all the music from "The Eldar Scrolls IV:Oblivion" on XBox360, but if we are going to go old school, then three old Amiga tunes, Speedball 2, Xenon 2 Megablast and a couple of the tunes from Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge are still stuck in my head.

I still find myself whistling the original Mario theme... even though I've heard it very few and far between in the last decade.

Oh yeah, a couple more...some themes from Eternal Champions (Sega Genesis ftw), the entire Tekken 3 soundtrack, the Name Entry theme for Tekken Tag (makes a good rap beat too...), and Jawbreaker's theme from Double Dragon 5 (that one fighting game on the Genesis that had a dominatrix as one of the bosses...)

and just about every song from Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2.

The Rainbow Six Theme comes to mind.
So does the Deus Ex theme.

Humm, I always like the Sonic themesongs. =] I have the main song on my cell phone now. Ha.

I'm glad Halo 2 and Oblivion were mentioned. Also I'm surprised there are so many LOZ fans. My favourite that I can remember is either in Halo 2 about mid-game or the the for Hitman II: Silent Assassin.

Zelda's Lulluby...damn I never knew it was that hard to spell that... and the Lost Woods theme songs. From the N64 Ocarina of Time. I whistled those for 4 years straight.

I have Zelda's Bolero of Fire on my iPod. That's how awesome it is.

Final Fantasy 1 theme music and victory music, SMB underground music, and original LoZ theme music. Awesome tunes all of theme! And that Zelda video with the dancing and the lights and the bad disco...oh GOD someone get it out of my brain!

Anything by Nobuo Uematsu, the man is a genius. Final Fantasy VII music is amazing! His music makes mine look infantile. Oh, have any of you heard of the Black Mages? He adds rock to the Final Fantasy themes. It's amazing music.

The Lost Vikings theme, my mom was super addicted. When I heard this theme song, I knew dinner wasn't to be served.

I know people have already mentioned Zelda, but...
The windmill song from Zelda OOT. I'll be playing the game and just stay in one spot for a while so I can listen to it. Same with the song playing in the water mill inside of the clock tower in clock town in Majora's Mask...what a mouthful.
I have the soundtrack to OOT but sadly the MM one is rare/very expensive =(

Atreides and Ordos themes from Emperor battle for dune.
Nightelf theme from warcraft 3.
Sonic 2: pretty much every level, but chemical plant and metropolis really stand out.
Skies of arcadia: battle music.


And yes, anything from zelda, banjo and mario.

Now that I have visited VGMusic, I can remember the songs from Chrono Cross. Anything from Chrono Chross, especially after you defeat someone or something.
