Apocalypse 03-28-2006 01:53 PM

And I have come!

Hej!

I'm 15 years old, freshmen in highschool. male, that should be obvious. decent student. Biology is not my strong point though. I'm from Pennsylvania, not too far from Philly.
I have an intense interest in history, mostly scandinavian and medieval history, hence why I watch the History Channel religiously.

Along with scandinavian history I love the heavy metal coming out of that area, mostly Sweden and Finland(though finland isn't technically part of scandinavia. I'm also a fan of industrial, classic rock, blues, and whatever else pleases my ears.

what bands, you ask?
Amorphis
ajattata
arch enemy
apocalyptica
nevermore
skinny puppy
the cruxshadows
the who
amon amarth
shape of despair
nin
turbonegro
children of bodom
mind field
tapping the vein...just to name a few.

I don't consider myself gothic, or anything at all. I am who I am. I dress with a bit of a goth flare but nothing too crazy. hot topic is silly, just thought i'd put that out there. Clavin Klein is where its at, ha!

Well, thats enough for now, glad to have joined this forum, seems a good place with great people.

spookypurple 03-28-2006 02:33 PM

Hi there!

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

ennui 03-28-2006 02:49 PM

welcome Apocalypse! 15, intelligent and not placing yourself into any set category or stereotype...Hooray! I just had an argument with someone who was lumping your age group into one derogatory statement. Thanks for proving me right. :P

corporalaccident 03-28-2006 03:57 PM

Hey! Welcome aboard, laddy. Good to have you. I'm a newb as well, still getting used to everything here. I heart PA, by the way! And apocalyptica. They're sick. Yup.

edible_eye 03-28-2006 04:17 PM

you came, huh?

well, wipe it up before someone sits in it.

I'm glad to see the warm welcome. I will post more later, dinner time. Rock on!

NyQuil of Doom 03-28-2006 05:23 PM

I like you already. And what a nicely diverse taste in music you have.

Jane13 03-28-2006 06:17 PM

It's so trange being older than people. Welcome to the boards! Jut wondering, have you heard of a band called Finntroll? I heard a couple of their songs awhile back and thought they were kinda neat.

Apocalypse 03-28-2006 07:01 PM

I actually am a fan of fintroll, I have two of their albums. folk metal!

Well, I'm glad to hear it. and thank you for the compliment of my taste in music.

I was right in my assumption of the quality of the people here, top notch!

Godslayer Jillian 03-28-2006 08:05 PM

That's right, Calvin Klein is the way to go:D
And also a brand called NickIt

Tavish 03-28-2006 08:58 PM

Hot damn:D

Apocalypse 03-29-2006 12:35 PM

NickIt, eh? I plan to use that from now. Doesn't really have to same appeal when nobody understands it, shame.

Wow, I have a massive soar throat and a saxophone lesson, thats going to suck.

Thats right, I'm saxy, when I get playing I'm so saxual. Some might say I'm comfortable with my saxuality.

Saya 03-29-2006 02:27 PM

Hehehe, welcome!

I used to play saxophone, but I quit because I sucked. Which is quite a problem, seeing as you are supposed to blow. *crickets*

Better to suck than blow, when it comes to sax, I always say.

Yes, quite *puffs pipe knowingly* Then you would have been pleased with my sax performance, quite.

corporalaccident 03-29-2006 03:46 PM

Saya you just made my day with that hotastic joke. Effin rock, laddy.

Apocalypse 03-29-2006 04:42 PM

alright! turns out my mom let me skip sax due to illness, shes such a nice lady, and now I'm drugged up on tylenol and what now, so in an hour or so, back to feeling like crap.

I'm not really that great with my sax either. But I don't really practice much. That might do it. Plus I can never find anything sheet music I really like.

Guess I need to improve my sax life.
I think I've killed that joked now, BAM!

Sobeh 03-29-2006 04:44 PM

"Some musicians are forced to practice Sax by their parents"

Ben Lahnger 03-29-2006 05:01 PM

Solo sax is the safest sax!

Apocalypse 03-29-2006 05:55 PM

Ha, sax is a great word. Adolphe Sax. saxiest man alive I dare say, he invented the sax by the way.

Sobeh 03-29-2006 05:59 PM

That was probably the saxiest post I've ever read!

Psi 03-29-2006 06:36 PM

Welcome, you seem like a very intelligent person, glad to see someone my age with half a brain and great taste in music. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Rock on :O

Jane13 03-29-2006 07:38 PM

.... I was just going to post that I played saxophone and was horrible at it too, but that's not very funny -.-

um... Constantinople. That's sort of funny, I guess.

"A Song"

lyrics to "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" by They Might Be Giants From the album FLOOD

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul)
Istanbul (Istanbul)

------------

By the way, Apocalypse, nice intro. And methinks me likes the timber of yer swagger! Arrrrrgh!

I think you'll fit in here just fine. Your age is an asset, because your intelligence and articulate speech will allow you to communicate a unique viewpoint.

Welcome to this place. I look forward to your contributions.

succubus,queenofvampires 03-30-2006 11:27 AM

Hey, welcome Apocalypse! You seem like a really cool addition to this site.

Apocalypse 03-30-2006 12:11 PM

thanks once again for your welcoming posts, I'm feeling the love!

You devil!...I was just about to post that song. Yarr, and me thinks Ben Lahnger be a nice bloke, gearrgh! Speaking of pirates, I bear a strange resemblence to a pirate. I need a beard though. Plus I look like a fool scratching my chin pensively sans beard.

To sum it all up, I be glad that you all (y'all, perhaps?) seem to have such warm feelings for me. I shant dissapointed you!

Sobeh 03-30-2006 01:37 PM

I'm surprised you haven't changed your alternative title to be 'I'm to saxy for this post', that'd be spot on!

Apocalypse 03-30-2006 01:39 PM

That would be top notch, but the current one i have is direct, shooking, hilarious, and true.

corporalaccident 03-30-2006 05:17 PM

BEN that's one of my favorite TMBG songs. SO classic!

Jane13 03-30-2006 05:55 PM

Ben, I LOVE YOU! Knowing the name of that song and the band was EXTRA CREDIT on my world history test! *hug*

Ben Lahnger 03-30-2006 11:41 PM

Wow! What incredible luck! Jane, I so glad my long-term affection for a wacky little band called "They Might Be Giants" resulted in you getting extra credit. I wish I could claim I was prescient enough to know you were going to need that info ... the song was just a perfect follow-up to your post. So hurray for synchronicity!

Corporal, yep, that and "Build A Little Bird House In Your Soul" are both from the album FLOOD, and they are my two favorite TMBG songs.

And I have to say that you have very good taste! :)

Sobeh 03-30-2006 11:45 PM

"... not to put too fine a point on it, say I'm the only bee in your bonnett..."

Ben Lahnger 03-30-2006 11:54 PM

Yep, that's it! It still is my favorite album by them. I also love "Your Racist Friend" and "Whistling In The Dark" and "Twisting" and ...

The best thing about that album is that there are 19 songs on it. If you don't like a song, you don't have to wait long for something different to come on. Oh, and "Minimum Wage" is cute too.

I have been flirting with the album APOLLO 18 a bit lately too.

By the way, Apocalypse, any fifteen year old who knows his They Might Be Giants references is a friend of mine!

Apocalypse 03-31-2006 12:38 PM

I'm glad to here it ben!

TMBG is great and all, but seeing how this is a thread about me, talk about me kids! I'm narcissistic!

The sad thing is, I really wouldn't be surprised I really was narcissistic, me ego is HUGE!

tenet_2012 03-31-2006 12:40 PM

Ummm...

You're fucked man!

Fuck you!

Apocalypse 03-31-2006 12:41 PM

You bastard! I will rip off your head, drink all the blood, light it on fire, piss out the fire, crush it, and eat it!

tenet_2012 03-31-2006 12:42 PM

Just you wait, asshole.

Apocalypse 03-31-2006 12:51 PM

Jesus Christ! you are supremely over critical, lighten up a bit, what, going to report me to Johnny Q Law? I wasn't being serious at any stretch of the imagination, but apparently everything I say seems to offend you.

Once again, I haven't be living with a tribe of hunter gatherers my entire life, I know the law.

Now, please don't be such a wench.

Look, only 2 days and already someone doesn't like me.

Enemy count: entire board. thats gotta be a record.

On the account of the fact that I suck at life, will never amount to anything, and accoring to some, I have no genitals, I will be leaving.
Seems I'm too offensive, annoying, impulsive, arrogant, and downright mean to be allowed. I don't hate mentally retarded kids, I just think some of them are wasting tax money by being in public schools when it can't help them. Thats all I was trying to say, I guess I was being too general, forgive me.

I BID YOU ALL ADIEU! Love, prosper, peace, and no hard feelings?

-grimace- Ooh. Put some ice on that burn...

By the by, a "drain on society" comment isn't the same as "public schools do not help them" comment.

Just so you know.
