Oh it's probably true but everything gets bastardized eventually and honestly I'm making a profit off the current interest in stempunk so I'm not gonna complain.

I do like me some steampunk though.. I likes the music and I find the aesthetic quite pleasing.

I love the look of steampunk. I have always loved that gears and pulleys look. As far as wearing it goes, i like touches of it from time to time, brass buttons, a skeleton pocket watch, even a clockwork ring. I love it all, however, a full on steampunk outfit is a bit overboard fro me. I have seen it pulled off well but that was in a situation were everyone was dressed up. For day to day i would say touches of it are great.

Argh. I just hate that before I can find anything good on Etsy I have to wade through a sea of steampunk jewelry.

ive got to say, steampunk seems pretty bitchin. wish i could get my hands on some of that.

^ Same here, though not the HT version; HT isn't very good at emulating these kinds of things any more.

Genuine Steampunk stuff is gorgeous, though, and can be easily toned-down for an everyday look.

I like the DIY aspect of the whole thing, but there doesn't seem to be much of that anymore considering there are ready to wear pieces everywhere.

I think Steampunk is super cool, and I love touches of it added to outfits.

Steampunk is cool, especially if you go to a thrift store and find some old handmade piece with some personality to it. I really like the idea of 'the future that never was'. Flying ships would be awesome!

Personally I would like to see a bit of a comeback for air ships; lighter than air travel is much more fuel efficient than airplanes (although jets are a good bit faster).

I know, airships are even being used by the US military (I think the Navy has a type of blimp in opperation but I'm not really sure what else may be out there, although I don't think they have any plans for any rigid airships).

L.A.'s John Eshaya to design collections for Hot Topic and Torrid

John Eshaya, founder of the contemporary Jet Clothing brand and former vice president of women's wear at Ron Herman, has signed on as the first name-brand designer to create collections for teen-focused retailer Hot Topic and its plus-size spin-off concept, Torrid, reports Women's Wear Daily.

L.A.-based Eshaya has inked a licensing agreement with Hot Topic Inc., and will design collections under the John Eshaya for Hot Topic label (which will be stocked in the chain's 650 Hot Topic stores) and the John Eshaya for Torrid label (hitting Torrid's 56 stores) in May.

This will be the first-ever licensing deal for Eshaya, who, during his tenure at Ron Herman, helped advance the popularity of California-based contemporary collections (lines priced just below designer collections) such as Citizens of Humanity and Juicy Couture.

The Hot Topic Inc. collections will start out small, he said, numbering seven to eight pieces each for the initial launches at Hot Topic and Torrid. Prices will be low — $40 and under at Hot Topic and $60 and under at Torrid.

Expect Eshaya's casual, easy-breezy sensibilities to be present in each line. A stand-out look for the Hot Topic collection will be a printed loose jersey tank top and wrap jacket ensemble; a key look for the Hot Topic line will be cropped sweatpants.

The unemployment rate in has been a debated hot topic in politics for a while now.

Unemployment rates have been climbing due to a substantial loss of jobs between 2008 and 2010.

Republicans and Democrats have been arguing about the economic problems facing our country. Democrats such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have claimed that unemployment helps to create a prosperous economy.




Millions of Americans have filed for unemployment and are scouring through newspaper ads and online job listings to find employment. But what about those who are content sitting at home?

A native, Justin Time, said, “I was laid off five years ago from my job in a meat packing plant. I was worried at first that I wouldn’t be able to provide for my family, but now I see being unemployed is the best way to go. I can sit around all day and still receive checks in the mail from the government. How can life get any better?”




Along with an unemployment crisis, millions of Americans are struggling with obesity.

Clothing companies in have started raising the prices of their products being exported to because they are using more fabric to make bigger sizes.




Some radical groups are popping up around the country, claiming to have the answers to ’s problems. One such group, The Anorexians, out of , say that food should be rationed by the government to allow each American to consume only 300 calories a day and to get rid of all power plants and make Americans generate their own electricity by running on treadmills.

Regardless of what the best solution is for these problems, one thing is for sure, Americans are getting fat and lazy…and like it.
