Anybody Like Switchblade Symphony?

OMG I absolutely love SS but I'm not aware of many other fans..IF you don't care please post your favorite songs/albums

BoleroBelle 08-26-2005 12:31 AM

I love Switchblade Symphony. My favorite song by them is called Dissolve.

Star of Blight 08-26-2005 02:46 AM

Always liked Switchblade, a shame every time they were playing in SF I missed them, and now they obviously aren't doing any work together, but such is life.

MrMaelstrom 08-26-2005 04:12 AM

Fuck yeah, They were great and I still think their version of Siouxsie's Nightshift as one of the best covers ever.

Kettu 08-26-2005 04:01 PM

I love switchblade. I like the song "baby"

Kushiel 08-26-2005 07:47 PM

I had the joy of seeing them on their last tour and it was easily one of the best shows I've been to. Sadly a couple of months later I heard they broke up. Their last studio album was wonderfully written and produced.

strawberry_gashes 08-28-2005 04:57 AM

I've heard one song, dunno which one but it was really good

oldgoth 08-29-2005 08:19 AM

Tina Root has just recorded a track on the new album from The Last Dance. There's a small snippet here... http://reflectionsofrage.com/myspace/WMCTeaser.mp3 - from a track called Wish Me Closer, the album is released on September 20th

They're also touring the UK soon (without Tina though...)

www.insanitorium.co.uk/TLDtour.htm has all the dates..

Lament_A_Morte 09-01-2005 10:12 PM

that was great

I love Switchblade Symphony ^.^ "Mine Eyes" and "Dollhouse" are a couple of favorites... and "sheep"... I'll stop now...

Fenris 09-04-2005 01:15 AM

I used to like switchblade symphony a lot when i was on my major darkwave kick. Dollhouse[Razed in Black mix] was one of my favorite songs for a long time. Now their presense on my CD's is mostly limited to dissolve and maybe chain, but i still enjoy their music.

Kali Maxwell 09-04-2005 09:29 AM

They're pretty good. I am, however, a serious lover of all things metal, as I am addicted to the sound of electric guitars. ;)

Have you heard the Razed in Black mix of 'Clown'? it is exellent.

Aeternus 09-30-2005 08:15 AM

I'm not into Switchblade Symphony at the moment, but I really enjoyed it. And I do it even now, now and then.

Favorite songs? Wallflower, Wrecking Yard, Gutter Glitter, Mine eyes, Naked Birthday (My first song from them.), Anmorata, Sheep, Dollhouse and so on.

Switchblade Symphony is kind of... Well, how to say it, in Estonian it's "õõvastav", in English something like creepy. However, Switchblade Symphony makes exactly that kind of music, which you listen to all alone and when you notice nothing.

Hard to explain; I just like Switchblade Symphony.

I love both of those remixes ^.^

Raven113 10-01-2005 12:26 PM

Love switchblade. I personally prefer the Mother's Mix of "Clown"

Rosie 10-01-2005 01:15 PM

I love them! One of my favourite bands ever. Want to find Bread and Jam for Frances, I own Serpentine and Witches, and I'd already listened Calamites to death. I hope they come back from hiatus soon.

Junk Bond Trader 10-15-2005 09:47 AM

I have their first album. I like the first song off it, Bad Trash, I think. I saw them several times live opening for The Sisters of Mercy (Andrew kicked Sunshine Blind off the bill and nearly did so for them--he hates goth bands and goth/doom festivals, you know!) and for Front Line Assembly.

I like them okay. They have nice voices.

Tall One In Black 10-15-2005 09:23 PM

I like them. I have all their CDs and have seen them live twice. Serpentine Gallery is my favorite CD. I also picked up a DVD "Sweet Live Witches" recently.

I could never choose just one favorite song, but I agee with BoleroBelle - "Dissolve" is great.

I don't think they're on hiatus; I think they're defunct. I could be wrong.

zinderel 10-30-2005 06:38 PM

First exposure to the world...

SS was the first Exposure I had to the world of gothic...everything. LOL.

I was a hopeless freak, trapped in the preppy clothes I thought I should wear while going to school in California, then an old friend of my then GF named Michelle gave me a ride home one day and played some SS for me. It was 'Gutter Glitter'. I fell in love and started hunting down everything I could find that was similar, and got a lot of recs from her as to bands I should try out.

I went to a 10 year reunion recently, feeling comfortable and 'normal', not pretending anymore, and you know...the funny thing is all the people I went to school with considered me Goth long before I even knew what that was.

So, yeah, I have a special place in my heart for SS.

Oh yeah, I'm a noobie to this site too. Hi, folks. *wave*

AilicesEpitaph 10-31-2005 11:26 PM

I love them. My favorite songs are Call Me Alice and Gutter Glitter.

Jane13 11-01-2005 05:06 PM

zinderel, that's a great story ^.^ But you should also introduce yourself in the "introduce yourself her" thread.

ThwanCondu 11-05-2005 12:19 PM

Dissolve rocks!

Fried Mullet 11-06-2005 11:15 PM

Yes, if you're slightly depressed . I can manage to intake a song or two, but after awhile, they begin to come across as a bit indistinguishable. I can't tell when another song starts or ends. If I had to choose a credible song, it would be Dollhouse.

tenet_2012 11-06-2005 11:44 PM

I like the Switchblade song called "Sweet". Some of the remixes are not very good.

WRETCHED_SPAWN 11-15-2005 10:42 AM

My favorite songs are Witches and Fear :)

Lament_A_Morte 11-15-2005 11:09 PM

I would have to say I love every song they have ever made, but I personally like Numb, Chain, Insect, Bad Trash, Anmorata, Fear, Monsters, Gutter Glitter, Sweet..

I also own every album including the remixes and the rare live album, plus Sweet Little Witches and The Sweet Live Witches DVD.. I'm not meaning to brag I just love SS!!

I was just listening to Wiccan Lullaby. All i can say is wow, it has a nice enchanting quality to it. Other songs i like are Dollhouse(razed in Black Remix) and Gutter Glitter.

Auriane 11-24-2005 12:21 PM

I only have a few of their songs, but I love all of them. Most of my favorites seem to be pretty common: Dollhouse, Gutter Glitter and Nightshift. But I really like all their songs. They feel so unreal.

I've always thought they have the seem general atmosphere as Midnight Syndicate (especially MS's Haunted Nursery and Wicked). Anyone with me on this?

Switchblade Symphony A+++ in my Book.

Rosie 12-04-2005 05:28 PM

Definitely one of my favourites!

gothictuesday 12-06-2005 05:13 AM

Gutter Glitter made me fall in love with them, but I really like most of their songs.

Death101 12-07-2005 05:35 AM

The first song that I heard from Switchblade Symphony was from a movie called Wicked which was Clown. After that, I was hooked on them. They actually have a music video for Clown as well. If you go to www.launch.com you can find their video under the archive in the "S" section.

SicGoth 12-07-2005 08:31 AM

My favorite songs would have to be Dissolve, Sweet, Gutter Glitter, Naked Birthday and Mine Eyes

horrorgirl 12-07-2005 08:45 PM

I only like their first album. Tina Root has kicked her heroin habit and is trying to break into the mainstream music world. On her Myspace page their are samples of her new songs. Really poppy type stuff. At least she's clean now....she was a real mess.

EDIT:Back in the day my then best friend stole away Tina Root's boyfriend. Funny stuff.

DarkFairyWings 12-12-2005 04:00 PM

OMG i listened to them for the first time yesterday and tought they're great!!!!

Surgeon Méchant De Sang 01-15-2006 01:11 AM

I love them! My favorite song by them is Gutter Glitter.

JuliaGaltic 01-15-2006 01:29 AM

They are in my top ten! Can't choose favorite songs, but my favorite albums are Serpentine Gallery and The Three Calamities.

It's not really that poppy, just upbeat. It still has an underground-ish feel to it. It's upbeat electro. I could imagine her having one hit song in the 80s, but that's about it, in this day and age it's not really what would be considered "Pop", though if you do consider Gorillaz to be "Pop" they have some similiar songs. I don't think she's really trying to break the mainstream. We haven't heard much of her proper solo stuff yet, she's only doing an album of covers first. A lot of those bands will be not-so-well-known electro, goth and gothish(Depeche Mode) acts so I'm not sure how mainstream she's trying to be.

She did leave a comment on my MySpace though. I wish her all the best :) She is adorable.

Sanctus Dei 02-08-2006 11:46 PM

Gawd it's been atleast 3 years since I've listened to SS... (well for two of those three my shits been packed away) I MISS MY MUSIC!!!! GRRRRRR. I love Serpentine best I think, but I grew a liking to Rasputina and slowed my listening of dear old Switchblade... only a few months though and i'll have all of my lovelies back....
