Cute Gothic Dresses
I was looking around for gothic type dresses and came along to ones and I thought some of you might be interested in them -even though its a fad in japan and it kind of has a demeaning name... but, nevertheless, some of them are really cute.

If you have any comments, or even some of your own links to you're favorite dresses, feel free to post. |
The EGL look is indeed cute.
|
how is the term "EGL" demeaning?
|
Maybe she's reffering to the lo.lita term?
|
Lo.lita is a valid age range.
|
Yeah, I don't think it's demeaning at all, especially since they're trying to look young and cute; no one is forcing it on them.

I love them!
Kinda funny...precisely what I dress like, just with a more mature and punk/glamour spin off. Personally, the word "lo.li.ta" seems to work, because thats what we girls are aiming for, especially in that attire. It technically wouldn't be pedophilia...ahem, if we were of age, correct? I mean...not old pedo.philes are old and creepy and sit behind their computers all day telling people in chat rooms "OMG! a/s/l? me? 16/m/CA!" It's wrong for a 20 year old to make love to a 12 year old, but how about a 20 year old making love to a 18 year old who just happens to love the whole lo.li.ta. look? Problem solved much? |

I think I digressed a little subject off subject.... O.o
What is "EGL" mean by the way? |
Elegant Gothic L.olita.
|
Oh, okay, thanks. I never heard of that before today.
|
It's cool, I'm generally a failure at acronyms in general so I was quite pleased with myself at being able to identify that one.

edit: I had posted a link, but the world lo.lita was edited out, so it didn't work. Just search "elegant gothic lo.lita" (minus the . of course) on Wikipedia. |

Ahh, I love those dresses.. Gothloli is very cute, indeed.
Too bad that any clothing of that style is ridiculously priced and hell to make.. |
I know just what you mean Arashi. I would like nothing more than to have a gorgeous Moi-même-Moitié dress, if only they weren't so hard to come by!
Gothic ****** is a great style, but too often it is cheapened by the chain store we all know too well. |
EGL?
Do you get FGL? Frumpy Gothic L0lita... :D |
I ment I think japanese people are one of the hottest people on earth, but I do like the ****** dresses aswell.
|
haha FGL.
I cringe whenever I see one of those. Usually they just put on an unattractive corset/tank top and a mini skirt with cheap lace all over it and call it EGL. FGL is a great term, except I might be tempted to say "Fugly Gothic L-lita" instead! |
I heard that! I cannot stand it when girls go around cheapening the look. Admittedly- I'm a major snob and elitist when it comes to EGL/EGA.
|
I know exactly how you feel. It's hard not to be elitist about it if you know anything at all about the style. It's just so easy to go wrong, especially for Americans who don't have a very petite frame.
You really have to know what's appropriate and what suits your body type to pull it off, and it seems like lots of people don't want to put that much time/effort/funding into it. Sad, but true. |
