Which of these genres do you prefer?
 

I'm trying to gauge what it the most preferred genre of music on the site at this time.

Ugh. Shit, it fucked up, and I didn't get to put in the poll.

I don't care enough anymore.

My prediction is that people are going say Goth or Gothic I would imagine. Several people will say Death Rock, some will say Industrial, etc.

Well I was going to put in deathrock, industrial, darkwave, coldwave, 1st wave gothic, 2nd wave gothic, and metal.

I'd have voted darkwave.

I wouldn't have voted, because I like so many genres and I can't pick one over the rest.

Goth first generation all the way.

Also, Mag, is it okay if I do a thread in which gothers (old school and ne0 d00d) or rivetheads, etc. vote for their favourite generation of gothic rock? I'm kinda ripping you there, though.

Deathrock. The original Batcave and California deathrock stuff as well as certain new bands most noteably... Cinema Strange.

I think 2nd wave gothic rock.

Ditto, and quite a few of my Genre's weren't applicable.

Dark Wave.

Actually, I'm kinda weird. Can I just say Wave? I like darkwave, new wave, coldwave, etherwave...

Then comes Industrial and then comes the classic goth rock.

Did you know that there is a subgenre called "no-wave" ?

I didn't until a friend told me about it a couple of years ago.

The Sonic Youth is a No-Wave band.

Goth pwns all, this is a truth. However, Death Metal comes close for me.

Lulz, an uneducated person wouldn't find anything odd about that.

I like too many types of music, but my favorites are probably punk, oi, and terror ebm/hellektro/aggrotech (whatever you want to call it)

But, I also really like hardcore, rockabilly/psychobilly, industrial, various sub-genres of metal, some older ska and skinhead reggae, and...surf rock. I just saw the Ventures last night...they were AWESOME! The drummer came out and used his drumsticks to hit the strings on the bass players bass, and they played a song like that. It was seriously amazing.

I also love the waves and goth.

Well the majority of the waves I haven't ever heard any no-wave music.

The only no-wave I have in my collection are the Raybeats. The WFMU Blog has alot of references to it, if you use the search function.

New Wave and New Romantic are both really good.

I love 1st and 2nd wave Goth, Also like New Wave and New Romantic, Industrial, Classical (modern as well as the classics), Certain kinds of Metal, Hard Rock, various eras of Punk, 1st, 2nd and 3rd wave Ska, Electro-acoustic Composition, anything experimental, Progressive Rock, etc...

What about Visual Kei? :(

I'd have to say metal, though I do enjoy just about everything except rap, hip-hop, and country.

Of the selections- I'd have to go with Industrial and then Darkwave.

I enjoy and appreciate just about all genres of music, but in keeping with the topic of the thread... Industrial, then Darkwave.

The darkwaves and coldwaves all have good qualities, but they seem to be more restrictive than plain old goth.

I always found the term "metalhead" to be undignified. That's what people who don't like Metal call us.

Really though, trance is cool. Hell- I used to rave for 8 years. I virtually drowned in it!

Metalcrotch just doesn't sound that sexy.

I think the term metalhead is more just for the purpose of being able to describe people who REALLY like Metal. I don't think there's any ulterior motive behind such a branding. But I could be wrong.

I prefer the term "metaller" or "metaler", but of course I can't expect everyone use that. I suppose this comes off like Star Trek fans who insist on being called "trekkers" instead of Trekkies". A bit pretentious perhaps, but I can relate to their reasons behind it.
