Hello. I'm sure you'll find some interesting discussions on philosophy and theology on the boards, though you may not find so many discussions about your favourite bands.
Might I suggest you take a look at the music thread and see what you think of the bands we discuss there?

††BlackRose†† 12-04-2007 02:54 PM

Welcome to the boards!!! :D

You have Latin class in your school? I am sooo jealous. :P

Darklust 12-04-2007 03:02 PM

@Delkaetre: ill look at those now.
@BlackRose: yes, latin I - IV is offered at my highschool, im in Latin II.

Cogito ergo sum... :)

††BlackRose†† 12-04-2007 03:51 PM

My school is uncool like that. We have shitty courses.

I want to learn Latin though, I might take it after university, or in university. :P

And what would that mean? The translation site was confusing. lol. Yes I am a bit retarded. :P

Delkaetre 12-04-2007 03:54 PM

"I think therefore I am"- Rousseau's famous statement.

††BlackRose†† 12-04-2007 03:57 PM

Oh okay. Thanks! :D

Welcome to ....here!

I'm always willing to chat about mythos and theology, from Christianity and branchings of Demonology, Norse, Greek, Japanese (specifically Shinto), a little bit of the China Buddha, a bit of Indian (only really know parts of the Garuda myth right now but im learning more)

So yeah XD

Wormboy 12-04-2007 07:29 PM

Hehe DL, welcome to the boards. Don't appologies for your music tastes, these music snobs hate popular bands ^_ ^.

If you actually want to hear HARDCORE music, as in the genre not the adjective, check out Hatebreed, Bleeding Through, Dead to Fall, and Comeback Kid for a more punky feel. If you like heavy music, I'd check out a group called Project 86 for their song Sincerely, Ichabod. If you just want more crazy music, check out Arch Enemy. If you want some really good slamming metal, check out famous thrash metal bands Anthrax and Slayer. PM me if you want any more recommendations kid. ^_^. Welcome to the boards.

Methadrine 12-04-2007 07:33 PM

No, we don't hate popular bands, we hate everything that moves.

If it doesn't move, it's dead. If it's dead, then it must be either a goth or a lamppost. Since we don't fancy talking to lampposts except when we are ridiculously drunk on absinth, the only alternative left is goths. Simple equation.

Oh, and welcome. Was that a twitch I saw? ;)

God, that is awesome. That should be like... I don't know, plastered somewhere for all to read.

Anyways, welcome to the forums! I'll admit I like Linkin' Park as well (except their new album was a let down).

Since you are here, check out some of the Goth artist in the music forum like previously suggested. You'll find some great artist in there you might like.

You said 'ambient', though I didn't see any groups listed there that were ambient. If you do like actually ambeint, I'd suggest Dark Muse, Nox Arcana, Midnight Syndicate and Jon Hallur. Great racks to relax, take a nightime drive too, or sleep.

=)

For the record, this is hardcore:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eyROvw6zbY&

What you listen to looks to be mainstream rock and nu-metal.

Anyways, welcome to g-net.

Mon Coeur Noir 12-04-2007 10:26 PM

suture-self 12-04-2007 10:31 PM

Hardcore is punk.

Hatebreed I believe would be metalcore.

Delkaetre 12-05-2007 09:47 AM

Ah! Sorry, Jillian.... been spending so much time having dead philosophers blasted at me that the French ones are starting to merge....
which is ridiculous given that they had entirely different manners of approach and especially given that Descartes was considerably less interesting than Rousseau.

No sadly, there are thre genres, Punk - Hardcore Punk - Hardcore
The differences in hardcore punk and hardcore are a bit confounded at times but by no leap of the imagination are the Dead Kennedys hardcore. I love them, don't get me wrong, but they aren't. Bleeding Through and The Agony Scene would be metalcore. Hatebreed is hardcore, especially that song.

Bete Noire 12-05-2007 11:42 AM

Hello, my name is Will also.

Err...the consensus is that when one says "hardcore," they are referring to hardcore punk (unless you're on an electronic music forum): Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and the like. And then out of that came post-hardcore, emotive hardcore (emo), metalcore, thrashcore, grindcore, mathcore, and so on and so forth from here to eternity.

Wormboy 12-05-2007 01:49 PM

Not in my experiences Viscus. Usuallly when one (who knows what the hell hardcore sounds like) reffers to hardcore, they usually reffer to hardcore bands like Dead to Fall and Hatebreed. Metalcore has a more metal sound and uses double kick pedals. Though it is incredibly hazy now adays. When I say hardcore I refer to MODERN HARDCORE, which would be Hatebreed. I make sure to note the destinction of calling it hardcore punk.

Darklust 12-05-2007 02:40 PM

@Wormboy: thanks, ill check those out.
@Methadrine: shall i ask what you do in your free time? o.o
@DepthsofSpace: sorry, my favorite ambient artist (though a tad dark) is Atrium Carceri, and I have heard Nox Arcana and find them rather nice as well.
@Bete Noire: awesome.
@everyone: dont argue please its music :D

and thanks for the welcome!

Stormtrooper of Death 12-05-2007 02:51 PM

Hey mr punk who was born after the genre died, cool your jets. Where did I insult the Dead Kennedys? I said I love the Dead Kennedys, but that they aren't hardcore. Apparently (after extensive research into that confounded puddle of mud they call a genre system) it's come to the point that Hardcore (not hardcore punk) is more commonly accepted as Metalcore. I personally believe that hardcore should be seperate from hardcore punk as a genre that covers bands that aren't metal enough to be metalcore. But that's just me and a collective of people I talk to here in SoCal.

Sir Canvas Corpsey 12-06-2007 12:06 AM

I'm still trying to grasp what Queercore is...

Hardcore is just short for hardcore punk, dude, though a good amount of the stuff that gets called hardcore nowadays is actually post-hardcore, which occassionally features lame stuff like melody.

Stormtrooper of Death 12-06-2007 02:16 PM

Exactly, thats what is true. Wormboy, although you make a strong argument the Dead Kennedys ARE a hardcore punk band. Listen to the "In God We Trust" EP. And yes, so what if I was born when the golden age of punk was dead, its still going. Sure it's a zombie of its former self, its still going.

It's dead dude. You aren't a punk, you weren't around in the movement, you weren't there. Punks weren't part of a scene, they were part of an ideal. You use the word punk so much to describe everything about you it almost seems poserish. I'm not saying you are, but it comes off like that.

Wormboy 12-06-2007 05:00 PM

Sorry if that sounded really mean and condescending Stormtrooper. I'm in a bad mood. Sorry :(

Stormtrooper of Death 12-06-2007 06:42 PM

Its ok. I get used to being called things like that. I just want people to know I'm not a posuer, it pisses me off when I get called that. I just love the music and subculture SO much, it's my life and people don't believe me.

I don't think your a poser. It's just I know you love punk but if you use the word so much you seem like, well, DarkPrayer lol. "Hey guys, I'm goth, are you goth? OMG LET'S TALK ABOUT GOTH!"

Ok, well you aren't THAT bad.

I bet you wish you were born when (I forget if it was the damned or the sex pistols who made the first punk album).

It's ok, I kind of wish I could have been around when Mayhem started.

Stormtrooper of Death 12-06-2007 07:08 PM

The Damned were first, well single wise anyway. I like Mayhem, mainly because of the singers infamous suicide. In regards to my birth, I prefer the second wave more 1980-1986, so it doesn't matter. I'll try to cut back with my punkyness.

Godslayer Jillian 12-06-2007 07:25 PM

Punk's not dead, though. It's just moved much more into the underground.

(heartofflames) 12-06-2007 07:40 PM

XDDD Punk over here is "I LOVE AVRIL LAVIGNE" and wearing some black with sharp contrasts of color, along with some converses and highlights in jet black hair.

Metabolik 12-07-2007 10:46 AM

I fucking hate Fall Out Boy, but the rest are pretty good bands sooooo...welcome.
