Who here does not wear make-up?

It takes me a long time to get on eye liner, and unless I have eye liner, lipstick looks terrible on me, so I don't wear make-up. I am allergic to some eye shadows, so I can't wear it unless I am SURE that it is safe.

Arashi 02-14-2008 04:12 PM

Many moons ago I did not wear makeup as when I tried to put it on, I'd poke myself in the eye which would then cause horrendous screaming and result in the 'blak tearz' look. Not very desirable. It took me twenty freaking minutes to properly put eyeliner, shadow, and mascara on without it looking like somebody loaded a paintball gun with makeup and shot it at my face. And even if I managed to get that on right, my left eye, which DOES have a mind of it's own, would then somehow acquire the friendship of some foreign object and cause, once again, a very red eye and more black tearzz.

Practice, my pet. I can slap on perfect eyeliner in several seconds nowadays.

ForgetThisLostLenore 02-14-2008 04:52 PM

I completely agree with Arashi. I used to look like an awful raccoon of doom and gloom when I first started wearing eyeliner. Now it looks pretty good, and I can apply it on a rather bumpy bus ride with no problems.

Cyberbat 02-14-2008 04:56 PM

I wear makeup every now and then, only on special occasions. Its really bad for your skin and I'd rather keep my good looks for longer.

sintakz 02-14-2008 09:45 PM

I used to wear eyeliner and eyeshadow but having deep set eyes really messes up the way makeup look on you so I just quit with it.

Solumina 02-15-2008 08:35 AM

Most days I go without (who they hell wants to wake up any earlier then they have to for class) but when I go out I like to play up my eyes and it only takes about 10 min to completely do my makeup (15 if I am going to a goth club and about 20 for a gay bar)

DeathToLems 02-15-2008 10:15 AM

Most days I just wash my face slap on some moisturiser (if I'm a bit shiny Ill use a tiny dusting of powder foundation) then put on mascara.
If I am going out with my Boyfriend to a restaurant or shopping Ill put on a thin line of eye liner. Starting from the (bottom) outer corner. Sometimes I don't even go all the way along. Just the corners are enough.
Keep in mind the eye liner I use is a pretty thick pencil (Miss sporty 090 Black beauty) Probably the best eyeliner (it actually says eyeshadow pencil to shine and define, but meh its doing a good job at being an eyeliner) I've ever bought.
And that's it.
As long as my hair is clean and shiny I'm not too bothered about any more make up then that.

I try to practice, but I end up having raccoon eyes. XD

Minyaliel 02-15-2008 11:07 AM

I can't imagine not wearing makeup... seriously... but then I find it enjoyable to experiment with such things and plan on studying makeup next year anyway. I think the longest time I've ever used for a properly applied makeup was six hours, but then that was really complicated theatre stuff too. Normally I can use anything between 20 minutes to an hour on makeup, depending on my mood, every morning.

Arashi 02-15-2008 01:16 PM

Trust me, I've looked like a raccoon much more that I've cared to acknowledge... I think that most of us who wear makeup (us referring to the people on this site, rather than people who wear makeup in general) have resembled raccoons at some point, it just takes time to learn to do it properly rather than end up looking like a raccoon/ a clown/ and any other funny similes that people want to come up with.

I agree with this. I love to experiment with my eyeliner and shadows ( as seen in the pic thread by some of you, also see profile and avatar ) .

Darkprayer, if it's eyeliner you're having trouble with, rest your elbow on something. Start with a cheap pencil liner , a big bottle of hypoallergenic eyemakeup remover, and some cotton buds/Q tips to correct mistakes . Then experiment and practice.

When you get comfortable with pencil, try liquid, even if only to see if you like it. If not then get yourself a better quality pencil liner . With liquid I found the spongy nib type applicator, was easier than that long brush many have.

I'll keep practicing. Sadly, I am still at an age where my parents can control me like a remote. Whenever I go out wearing make-up, my Mom freaks and I have to wash it out. Otherwise she will give me the, "this is my house, and while you live in it, you have to go by my rules" lecture.

I don't wear makeup most of the time...

Hmmm... posts like this make me extremely grateful of my awesome mother, who is amazingly accepting of the way I do my makeup, my clothing choices, and such. She's even brought me home interesting eye shadow colors that she saw in the store and thought that I would like.

Well, then all that I can say is that you should practice whenever you can, even if you then have to wash it off. This way, when the time comes when you are of age to do what you like with your own face, you'll know how to put makeup on without being plagued by the whole raccoon look.

BlkGothGrl 02-17-2008 04:27 PM

I am truly The Suck at putting on makeup. At most, I can do eyeliner, some shadow (if I push my luck I can get TWO shades on! whoot!) mascara and lipstick (a bronzy brown, topped with black--makes some coolness).

And that is about it.

I am pathetic....

Clockwork 02-17-2008 04:29 PM

I've gone without for about a week now, as I need to be in character for this movie we're making in my French class, and he isn't a goth. I almost always wear eyeliner at least, however, because I think it's necessary to compliment my hair... and if I don't do either, then I'm utterly bored throughout the day.

You have an awesome mother. As long as my make-up looks "normal" and "realistic" my mother doesn't care. I think she just doesn't want me to be thought of as a freak, so she monitors the way I dress and act.

It sounds like she really loves you. Maybe a bit too much DarkPrayer. Try to ask her to give you some space. You sound very protected.

I gave up on makeup.. I feel so much more attractive without gunk on my face.

korinna5555 02-18-2008 05:09 PM

Yeah.. I went on a spree this weekend. Eight shirts and a pair of underwear later.. XD

Sir Canvas Corpsey 02-19-2008 01:04 AM

I hardly wear make up aside from the odd photo shoot or halloween fun.

Good for you. I wish all girls felt that way.

korinna5555 02-19-2008 01:51 PM

I've had some fairly serious self-esteem issues.. I hid behind my clothes, and hid behind my makeup.

I am fucking sick of hiding.

badteccy 02-19-2008 06:42 PM

I OCCASIONALLY wear lipstick. Fuck makeup, it's boring.

ArielDevaki 02-19-2008 07:14 PM

Ive seriously "cut-back" on wearing so much makeup. Now, dermotologists are telling 15 year olds to start using "anti-aging" wrinkle creams.

le_revenant 02-20-2008 09:08 AM

I've given up on eyeliner.
Its a pain to put on and I learned how to do it thru trial & error. Even after all the eyeball agony it didn't seem to improve the opposite sex's response to me :(
lol!! :D

NotLostNow 02-22-2008 10:47 AM

I only wear makeup on very rare occasions, don't have the time to fuss with it, and i figure if people don't like me without it, they aren't worth getting to know.

An Eccentric Cellist 02-22-2008 11:06 AM

I get up so bloody early in the morning that I only bother getting up early enough to do my make up on special occasions or when I wake up early, which means NEVER.
When I do wear makeup it's eye shadow and liner then mascara. Though I've had people of both sexs staring after me on those occasions. One guy actually called me a skank.
I was wearing a knee length, pleated skirt, a top that left much to the imagination, fishnets, knee sock and heeled boots. I was not skanky in the least! So I never understood the comment but who cares.

Miss Cogs 02-22-2008 02:05 PM

Nope. Never. I wear make-up everyday or I look really tired and just plain horrible. Me never wearing make-up, it's never going to happen.

Paigeybobert 02-22-2008 08:04 PM

I never wear it. I'll only put on lipstick when I'm feeling sexy.

Pineapple_Juice 02-22-2008 09:12 PM

I have very weird lips. Lipstick=not good.
I do wear eyeliner, this orange shadow, and mascara. Sometimes I use concealer to even out my skin tone, but not usually.

Wormboy 02-24-2008 12:41 AM

I wear makeup when I'm going out and doing something important, but mostly I'm either at work (dress code) or school (father imposed dress code that I am happy to oblige) I still need to procure some mascara though >_>

Mir 02-24-2008 07:55 AM

Odd question but, can I just use any pencil sharpener for my eye liner pencil or do you get special ones for that?

honeythorn 02-24-2008 08:18 AM

Any one that fits. Just a bog standard one is fine.

thedoll 02-24-2008 11:25 AM

I usually never wear makeup, I'm lazy in the mornings and would rather sleep that extra ten minutes. If I'm up and have nothing I need to get done then I'll wear some face powder, or some eyeliner but thats it for every day.

I don't even bother with eyeliner anymore. I just slap on some lipstick and I'm ready to go.

I've had terrible luck with regular pencil sharpeners. You must get better sharpeners than I have. Mine always breaks my eyeliner :S. The special ones work fine, though.

GratefulGrunger 03-01-2008 12:22 PM

I have been told many times that make up suits me very well, but its just so fucking boring I never put it on.. I never went with makeup outside in my life expect to halloween stuff

viscus 03-01-2008 02:11 PM

I'll put on some eyeliner before going to a show or a club, but that's about all.

I can't imagine being a woman and feeling compelled to wear make up constantly, I can barely keep my face adequately shaven as it is.

crucifix 03-05-2008 05:38 AM

I wear makeup when my dermatitis on my face is active to cover it up, but usually I only wear eyeliner on my days off.

Freyia 03-05-2008 09:00 AM

I put on makeup when I get bored or the rare occasion when I actually go out for the night.
otherwise it's just moisturizer and chapstick. I am pretty enough with out stuff allover my face.

Magila 03-08-2008 02:15 AM

Make up makes me look even uglier then i am, But rarely i do something rather industrial around the eyes when i am going to a concert of some kind.

I'm sure you aren't as ugly as you think.

killer_asian_Dax 03-12-2008 01:58 PM

Pft! I'm too cool for makeup.

Honestly though, I'm not really into makeup on myself. I'll wear it rarely. Maybe about 5 times a year, if that. I'm just too lazy. (even though it only takes me 5 minutes to put it all on.)

This year, I've only worn makeup once so far. Maybe I'll wear some this summer depending on where I go, but we'll see. I'm far too lazy to even break out the concealer and foundation.

ionic_angel 03-12-2008 05:54 PM

I'm trying. After my first serious attempt with cream eyeliner, I swore I'd never tease a teen girl again: they have way too hard a time as it is.

Apparently you can get this stuff in pencil, too? That sounds a bit easier.

I didn't look like a raccoon. I looked like a movie egyptian with glasses. And I don't use lipstick. Not sure that I want to try that...I'm a guy, after all, and if I can't even get eyeliner right...

MrZiegler 03-13-2008 08:14 AM

I dont. I scare children enough as it is. It would probley help me.

300pockets 03-13-2008 09:18 AM

I don't wear makeup.

My face looks good without it...

I don't see a need for improvement. It's clear, even-toned, eyes are naturally dark, eyebrows still have color...

It just seems like a waste of time and money to me. I've tried makeup before, and it makes me look worse that I already look.

Most people look better w/o makeup, IMNSHO.

Eyeliner and shadow is the most I'd ever use...but even that's only used on holidays for me.

Heatherzilla 03-17-2008 10:55 PM

I can never be bothered to do my make-up in the mornings. I probably should but sleep = so much better. I fail at doing make-up anyway, I should probably learn if I want to get a job anytime this century.
