Goth slang

Hmm let's see, what's some good Goth slang words?

Solumina 03-11-2008 05:50 PM

We have our own slang? Sweet!

KontanKarite 03-11-2008 08:12 PM

There is no goth slang.

Well, there's "mundanes", but that's probably not much of slang.

There is no goth Ebonics.

Freyia 03-11-2008 11:03 PM

there should be. we should create some.
*racks brain*

gothicusmaximus 03-12-2008 12:53 AM

What about 'Baby Bat', 'Mansonite', "Mallgoth' "Cybergoth", "Romantigoth", "Deathrocker", and all of that shit? People outside of the subculture don't generally throw those terms around.

Minyaliel 03-12-2008 02:12 AM

Yes, that's right. Oh, you forgot "Gother-than-thou", by the way.

Ye ol' Wikipedia has a section on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth_slang

Did you write it, Gothicus?

Also, I think doom cookie is one of the funniest thing listed on there.

korinna5555 03-12-2008 05:33 AM

Doom cookie makes me giggle.. I've heard it before, but it makes me laugh every time..

Spot the Goth is FUN. I played it at Busch Gardens when we went for Halloween.

Underwater Ophelia 03-12-2008 06:59 AM

Would that be slang, though? I mean, those are mostly either insults of classifications.

I wouldn't really count it.

DeathToLems 03-12-2008 08:09 AM

I watched this thing once on youtube with Halo characters
This one guy was talking
Then the other one says
"stop using big words"
The other one says
"They are not big words, you're just an idiot"

This made me think of Goths. Like how they use "big" words and it confuses the little ppl XD

So goth slang is actually words we already use but longererrerrerrrrr
Teehee

I think any colloquialism endemic to a specific group is argot. Certainly "oreo" and "twinkie" count as slang terms for people of specific ethnicities who 'act white', even though they're derogatory classifications.

That's true, but I was thinking more because there isn't really another name for "Deathrocker," is there? I mean, you could say "man who dresses in ripped fishnet and tight black pants who listens to Specimen and Rudimentary Peni and smokes cloves and has large hair," but that isn't a term. I was thinking of slang as a term for something that already has a term.

Maybe my definition of slang is just shitty.

I guess you can make the argument with things like Deathrocker and such. That would fall under Goth Jargon most assuredly, but things like Baby Bat would most definately be under slang.

ForgetThisLostLenore 03-12-2008 03:54 PM

So kindergoth is mostly applied to the ones under 16, but what about those of us 16 and above? Are we still baby bats or...or mallgoths, or...oh god, I'm so confused. XD

I don't really use Mansonite to describe someone who says they're goth though. Just the hardcore, Manson everywhere people. I quite affectionately refer to my friend as a Mansonite, and he really doesn't deny it too much. When you're in a Manson hoody, t-shirt, and you've got pictures of him on your binder, you're a Mansonite. I feel like the redneck guy now... "You might be a Mansonite...."

gloomcookie 05-06-2008 05:45 AM

I just love Gloomcookie. It's just so fun to say....

Opteron_Man 05-06-2008 06:44 AM

I like that one too.

There's "Elder Goth" for the Batcavers, but nothing that describes the generation that followed, while the third generation is currently covered by kindergoth (not for long, of course). Elder Goths, give us a name!

What do you call what Xombie is? Where you are well-versed in Goth music, Lit, etc., but you dress with really bright, happy colors?

Prettigoth

There. Compliment, commentary, and term all rolled into one. I'm a genius. :-P

AngelikDemonik 05-07-2008 07:44 PM

Uh...not really slang....but: "Nice boots." "Wanna fuck?"

Mir 05-07-2008 07:52 PM

Moshers. That is what goths are called in the UK.

Mr. Ed 05-07-2008 08:36 PM

NINny (avid fan of Nine Inch Nails)

MollyMac 05-07-2008 09:21 PM

I just think that *twat* should be relegates solely to the obese, dark underbelly of goth

KontanKarite 05-07-2008 09:37 PM

I like to use mother fucker. I got mother fucker down to an art.
