Love Molecule speaks out!

Another science revelation.

The "love molecule"?. I'm speechless.

It seems everything needs to be explained by Science.

Love molecule lasts only a year

"Your heartbeat accelerates, you have butterflies in the stomach, you feel euphoric and a bit silly.

It's all part of falling passionately in love – and scientists now tell us the feeling won't last more than a year.

The powerful emotions that bowl over new lovers are triggered by a molecule known as nerve growth factor (NGF), according to Pavia University researchers.

The Italian scientists found far higher levels of NGF in the blood of 58 people who had recently fallen madly in love than in that of a group of singles and people in long-term relationships.

But after a year with the same lover, the quantity of the 'love molecule' in their blood had fallen to the same level as that of the other groups.

The Italian researchers, publishing their study in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, said it was not clear how falling in love triggers higher levels of NGF, but the molecule clearly has an important role in the "social chemistry" between people at the start of a relationship."

"Psychoneuroendocrinology"
Holy fuck what a lovely word!

So love only lasts a year?
Teh cure to that depleting love molecule, every year instead of celebrating an aniversary...break up for two weeks then fall madly in love again...for a year.

Now try pronouncing the word.

Oh i did, which is why i found it so lovely.

Now, you imagine that word being said aloud in a thick Southern US redneck accent. ;)

why not call it the "lust molecule"? or the "wild passion molecule"?

the "love molecule"? a title such as that should be applied to something lasting longer than a year, i would think.

I think the "love molecule" is a ludicrous name and to even theorise "love" on the basis of science is beyond my laughing means.

Another news about love... (or was it sex?):

Creativity Linked to Sexual Success and Schizophrenia
SCIAM.com

Quote:

(...)
people who displayed strong evidence of "unusual experiences" and "impulsive non-conformity"--two broad types of schizophrenic behavior--had more sexual partners than their peers and were more likely to be involved in artistic pursuits, either professionally or as a hobby. Those who professionally pursued the arts had the highest average number of partners--5.5--compared to just over four for the less creativestudy participants.

Aurecante, that article has no correlation to the topic or "love".

Nevertheless, it is lame, pointless and a waste of time for the Psychologist who initiated the study to prove that "creativity" is linked to sexual success and Schizophrenia.
