Old or new? Make up your mind!

There is one thing I have have found rather odd in the creation of and posting in threads, when somone creates a new thread that has already been covered even if it has been dead for awhile it is termed necroing, yet when somone starts a new thread to avoid necroing people get on their case for starting a thread with a topic that has already been covered. Overall I find this paradox rather annoying.

So here I must ask; in the event of making a post of a topic that has been covered in a dead thread do you
A: create a new thread?
B: bring back the old thread?
c: go kill everyone?
or d: go fuck everyone?

LaBelleDameSansMerci 08-01-2008 07:35 PM

Usually I pick B. I think it's fine to necro a thread if you're being on topic. I hardly ever make threads. I think I've made about 10 or 12 in my entire time here.
I don't think an old thread should be necroed to continue something stupid and off-topic that was under discussion.

And necroing things like mindless1's suicide threads is just a bloody pain the brain.

My vote trumps every other vote.

If it is relevant to the topic and not a six month delayed "oh yeah!?!?" in a pissing match, I am cool

TheBloodEternity 08-01-2008 08:48 PM

If it is someone replying to the OP, and not replying to a year old post in the thread, then it's cool.

But I chose fuck everyone.

I painly just seem to gap out when it comes to the date sometimes. I'd rather CPR the carcass of a dead thread instead of getting flammed for starting a duplicate thread. Plus, I think I usually add something meaningful, if not odd to them.

Geoluhread 09-16-2009 04:49 PM

Well, bringing another thread is fine as long as you stick to the topic. And don`t quote other people who clearly don`t visit the boards anymore.

I_Zik 09-16-2009 06:03 PM

huh... that probably gets lumped up into the dead thread. Didn't know they didn't visit anymore.

I'm awfully glad you brought this up, Renatus. I've wondered about the proper etiquette sometimes. But as much as I thought I wanted to know the answer, when I got to D I felt a little thrill of enthusiasm, so I'm just going to go with that choice.

I'm torn between C and D. Me, I just do A (create a new thread) and then do E, (which was not included, AKA feign ignorance, which I am actually pretty good at).
