KoniginDerSpork 11-21-2003 05:21 PM

I am this close to kicking your ass, Dev. >---< See? This close.

secretboy 11-21-2003 05:32 PM

Oaky's great - his mixes are awesome, especially Travelling. Man, I wish I hadn't lost that CD....

But why isn't BT up there?

.BatteryPoison. 11-21-2003 05:57 PM

Nine Inch Nails produces Industrial music, not Techno. Contrary to popular belief, there is a difference. A big one. Get it?

pitseleh 11-21-2003 06:01 PM

Shouldn't that be 'best electronic music' or something?
What's a 'techno BAND' anyway? Usually it's just the one
person making the music.
Anyway, I like Tiga, Cex, Ladytron and a lot of the
WARP stuff. They're releasing their entire catalogue
on MP3 next month, by the way.

WeaselBoy 11-21-2003 08:24 PM

I think Devonshire is a troll. I am banning them.

Nobody in the world could be so stupid as to post crap like this here and expect to be taken seriously.

secretboy 11-21-2003 08:58 PM

Hey! I took him seriously. But I like techno. :)

Galetrial 11-22-2003 01:06 AM

Orbital is another good source of music, but I voted for moby just because I actually know more than one of his songs.

When did NIN become techno? Where was I?

NIN isn't techno you idiot! Techno as in Skinny Puppy, Velvet Acid Christ, Razed in Black...ect.

eyesofatragedy 11-23-2003 12:34 PM

I hate it when people generalize all electronic music as "techno". However, to answer the question I personally am a big fan of Oakenfold. I've seen him live a couple of times and he throws down a good set. But to join in on secretboy's query, what about BT?? I love BT and some of the other picks that were listed I hadn't really heard of. My top ten would be:

Paul Oakenfold
Paul Van Dyk
Tiesto
Bassbin Twins
Tidy Boys
Deepsky
Robert Miles
Aphrodite
Seb Fontaine
BT

There are many others I could also list but I'm not goin to make this post any longer.

mothgirl666 11-23-2003 12:47 PM

It's not complaining, it's voicing a difference of opinion. Techno is a style of electronic music. There are other styles such as House, DnB,(Jungle), Progressive, Trance, etc, etc. One could hardly put Oakenfold in the same category as Aphrodite. The styles completely opposite. Thats all I'm trying to say.

tekno_suicide 02-25-2004 09:59 AM

I hate to burst your bubble, but none of those are "techno." You can only classify them all together as Electronic music or Electronica. Techno is only one genre of Electronic music. The list goes on and on:

Techno
Drum and Bass
Breakbeats
Trip Hop
Downtempo
Trance
Gabber
Hardcore
Hard House
House

They can even be broken down more than that. Like I said, the list of genres go on and on.

Younggothwithasword 03-01-2004 06:01 PM

Hmm...

The only techno band I like is Depeche Mode. That's all.

Younggothwithasword 03-01-2004 06:06 PM

Does anyone else feel the same way?

RetroGoth_queen 03-02-2004 12:34 AM

hmmm Techno... primarily from the late 80's and early 90's.... and thats where it should stay.

Good Techno... I don't believe I have ever heard such a thing :?

I thought Skinny Puppy was industrial?? :? I don't know, I don't really care or know much about what makes a genre. Though I thought techno was just the weird stuff with repetitive electronic beats and hardly any vocals, or is that called dance music? Oh well, who cares...

Asurai 03-06-2004 02:30 PM

Wumpscut. Of those listed, I like Oakenfeld.

MrMaelstrom 03-06-2004 02:50 PM

Excuse me, has no one here ever heard of Underworld or The Chemical Brothers?

This, obviously assuming that "techno" is being referred here as any sort of electronic based music, which would make me include VNV Nation.

WolfMoon 03-07-2004 10:36 AM

cf

I voted for NIN,cuz they're the only band I like from the line-up.

Meyalleleth 05-05-2004 10:38 PM

I really enjoy Lords of Acid...

psyche 05-07-2004 02:14 PM

Truth. There are many styles within styles that compose Tech...

In fond rememberance of my psychohorrortrance room... there remains the one... GOATRANCE. Through spiritual awareness... beats echoing repeatedly and rhythmatically like darkwaves washing upon every grain of sand that composes your beach stirringly along with twinkling melodies falling like snowflakes of preciousness upon the bloodydriven snowfield of your mindful empty_ness.

Modernly primitive in it's trance invoking seas
swimming free transcendental and psychedelically.

As the elfarrow shoots into your heart of hearts...

.J.U.N.O..R.E.A.C.T.O.R.

The godfathers!

Ain't no body...does it better...makes me happy...makes me feel this way!!!

Allow the reactor to psychedelically warp your fagile little mind!

And while you're at it...

XENOMORPH
DARK SOHO
PARASENSE
SPACE TRIBE
TALAMASCA

Spiritualspacendentally killing sweetly.

*pssst...houston...we have a problem...*

*we've been sucked into darkstars blackhole...continue communique psychically...sweetly*
