I got this email today and it was something that really surprised me but also seems to be an issue that is pretty true. So here's the email:

"This is great. I have been wondering about why Whites are racists, and no other race is.
Proud to be White Michael Richards makes his point...
Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.
This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...
Someone finally said it... How many are actually paying attention to this?
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab
Americans, etc. And then there are just Ameri- cans. You pass me on the
street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,'
'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman' ... and that's OK.
But when I call you, ******, Kike, Towel head, Sand- ******, Camel Jockey,
Beaner, Gook, or Chink ... You call me a racist. You say that whi tes commit
a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos the most dangerous
places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You
have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Yom Hashoah.
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi. You have the NAACP. You have BET... If we had WET
(White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride
Day, you would call us racists. If we had White History Month, we'd be
racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR, lives we'd be
racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and
then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that??
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color
can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships ...You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US .
Yet if there were 'White colleges' That would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race
and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid
to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer
shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug- dealer running from the
law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud... But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists??
There is nothing improper about this e-mail. Let's see which of you are
proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we
have lost most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for
ourselves!

I am mixed race, white/chippewa (native american), and I have experienced racist attitudes because of this. This is just something I have noticed about American culture and was interested in hearing some other points of view! Thanks in advance!

I've always been angered when I think about things like this, especially the college issue. Why should colleges reject the more talented students to make their 'minority count'. My cousin got rejected from a college because she was white and they had to have a certain amount of blacks, even though she scored higher on the SAT's than the black man did.

That's a very racist email.

Because white people are the majority by an enormous margin so an organization for the furthering of white people couldn't possibly marginalize social inequality but create it?

Who would want a history of white people in America anyway?

It would be one depressing landmark.

JCC- you're right. Perhaps we are better off leaving well enough alone. I think Whites would suffer more criticism and hatred from other races if whites had their own "history month." Also, I think largely Black History month is to remind us to celebrate not just blacks but people standing up for themselves and facing adversity and conquering (sp?) despite the odds.

Much like the Jay Leno thread in the POLITICS section and the Robin Williams thread, this email is bogus and was not sent by Michael Richards, but racist scumbags trying to use a celebs name to try and get their racist point across.

The whole premise of that email is basically silly. They are saying whites are discriminated against, in America, because they don't have their own 'day', 'celebrations', or 'organisations'.

The whole premise of that is flawed. I mean, blacks represent 15% of America. They are only found in some large cities and then the rest are scattered in small numbers in other parts of America. They represent a minority of the population. However their average income and tax brackets are always lower than whites. Why? Because from the beginning they were treated as second class. Even today in American society blacks still have a hard time getting a foot in the door in many areas of industry and education. Racism is still alive and well in America. These days, its focused more on Arabs, but have no doubt the blacks are also still discriminated against in many situations. They are still fighting for equality, so why not pay homage to those who pioneered the cause before them, much like Americans pay tribute to the forefathers for their sacrifices? Is celebrating George Washingtons birthday racist against the british?

Then there is the whole 'day' and 'celebration' claim. Can a white guy not celebrate on Martin Luther King Day? Can a white guy not take part in the Fifth Of May celebration? Just because they choose not to doesn't mean they are not welcome to do so. I mean, everyone participates in St. Patricks day and doesn't say its a racist holiday. No one claims supporting Presidents day is racist (some earlier presidents owned slaves). To say that an event is racist is saying YOU think its based on racism, but to be honest anyone can participate if they want.

As far as the claim there are no 'white' organisations, that again is a minomer. What about the Sons Of The Confederacy college fund? It was setup to give children who lost a family member in the Civil War (on the souths side) money for college. It exists today. How many black kids get that? As I said above, if you go outside most large cities, finding a black business owner is like finding a four leaf clover. They don't need a 'white chamber of commerce' because 90% of them are already all white. Same goes for the Miss America pageant. Sure, one or two contestants MIGHT be black, but look at the number of states where there wasn't even a black or other minority considered. They are all white. Whites don't have to form an all white group to have all white meetings - they just happen normally, all the time.

At the end of the day this sort of thing is an American thing. Throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa there is no racism like the racism in America. Only in America do you hear this sort of talk. Only in America do people put so much emphasis on the colour of ones skin or your heritage. It just shows ignorance these days in America is limited to the few who never look beyond their own borders.

African tribes kill each other without much a difference at all other than a difference in skin TONE. Europe has countries splitting constantly based on MINUTE differences (look east of Germany, it's fucking Mitosis for countries over there), and YOU good sir, are living in a country where the northern section was fought over vigorously based on a trivial difference of religion. I've got no problem with you saying this country is racist as balls mate, but Europe is not some sort of love-fest.

You're right, few countries if any are free of racism. I can't think of any. America really isn't special other than being a little more diverse than a lot of European countries.

But the thing about you saying about people in Africa being racist against people because of a difference in skin tone, or Europeans being racist over minute differences, well thats how race is decided. Race is a social construct, there is no scientific basis for it. The genetic differences are incredibly small, the biological differences minute. In the west for example we do lump all dark skin people together as black people, but in Africa they see other differences, and lump people together based on that. We lump all Asians together, but they see differences as well. And a lot of people consider Jews to be apart of another race but I see no physical differences at all. Its very arbitrary.

Also, this e-mail is rubbish. As others have pointed out, there ARE white organizations. Plus, I've never been called a "cracker" or ANY white "slur" in a serious tone, whereas I've heard friends and relatives call black people "rats" and "******s" with absolute conviction. The e-mail just goes to show that most whites are too fucking stupid to see any pain but their own. You know what else? I've met more white drug-dealers than black ones, too.
And do white people REALLY get offended when a minority calls them a slur? I wouldn't give a fuck. If my ancestors enslaved and tortured yours for generations, why should I give a fuck? You've got the fucking right to be pissed.

I think the classification of the Jewish race had been around a lot longer than people knowing that. Anyway, most isolated genetic gene pools are prone to diseases than open gene pools, and thats more likely a result of that. Newfoundland was a isolated gene pool for a long time and we are host to a lot of genetic problems, for example Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, world wide average for that is six people per million but here its ten times more common. I don't think thats any basis for us to be a different race than other white people.

Fuck you if you think that I'm going to advocate black supremacy on the basis that some motherfuckers I've never met that had the same skin colour as me did some bad shit. If some guy came in here and said "Dude, some black guy mugged me, I have all the right in the world to hate those fucking n*iggers man", everyone would jump down his throat. Didn't advocate black supremacy. Sorry if it sounded that way. What I MEANT was that for all the shit white people have to take, blacks take more. And whites tend to downplay the whole slavery thing. The fact is that they were enslaved, freed, and still have it worse than whitey. Yet more whites hate blacks than blacks hate whites.

Last time I checked, whites DO have their certain pride days or what have you. I mean, if we're going to talk about celebrating being white, then what kind of white? German? Irish? English? French?

Last time I checked, there isn't really anything exactly wrong with celebrating one's heritage but to celebrate being white for the sake of being white implies that you're owning up to the really BAD shit that "white" people did.

Anyway, I was studying about how European first came to America and traded with native people, today.

Simplified : French guy barged in Iroquois's land, took everything they could reach, placed their "Long live the king of France" flag on other's land and even kidnapped the chief of the tribe back to France, only to studied him.


Comparison : Salesman barged through your door to sit at your sofa without any sign of your permissions, take a glass of water out of your hand to put out his thirst forced you to trade metal tools with your clothes , paste his company's advertisement right infront of your house and take your son back to the company to ask about how's their goods,by force.

And none of the above is done with your permissions.



These happened like thousands of time all over this biosphere called "Earth".

That reminds me of a huge fight I got into in grade ten or eleven, in English we had to read this book called Random Passage, which was about settlers in Newfoundland. Just for you to know, the aboriginal people who used to live here were the Beothuks, who sadly were killed off by a mix of disease and genocide. And in this book, the settlers kill a Beothuk man.

Me: Its terrible how the settlers commited genocide, and now we use the Beothuks as a tourist attraction, like The Beothuk Trails.
Former friend: Yeah but its for the best, if they were still around they'd be mooching off of welfare.

So apparently because some of the Inuit in Labrador abuse the system, it justified killing off an entire population of people. Its been years and it still boils my blood.

Not to mention that there's a persistent hatred towards Turks and North Africans in most of Western Europe. Many French will immediately ostracize someone they think might be an Algerian immigrant, for example.

Yeah, Europe is chalk full of DEEP social cleavages.

And fuck, here in Japan the Chinese are generally regarded as rude, dirty, and criminal-minded.

Not a Beothuk but the whole tribe.

Disease is unavoidable to those native people who haven't before withstand the power of SMALLPOX!!!

I still focus on French more than English, but I think we'll be starting, soon.

And from the record, White people claimed it to be native's punishment from God for that they couldn't accept Christ!!!

Back then you'd get something like fifty pounds for a Beothuk's head, the reason wasn't religion but that they were taking all the fish and ripping up the white people's fishing nets.

And yeah, in real life they killed more than one $hade, I just meant in the book the characters killed a Beothuk man :( it was really sad.
