Perfect songs

What songs do you consider to be perfect and unable to be improved upon?

For me:
  • Her Ghost by Gossamer
  • Marian by Sisters of Mercy
  • Plainchant - Missa Nigra Sum by G. P. Palestrina
(for now, at least)

Love You To Death

Type O Negative.

There are many songs I consider to be as you describe, but to keep it to a minimum:

Goth:
Cavity/First Communion - Christian Death
Innocent - Clan of Xymox
Angel - VNV Nation
Face to Face - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Lips like sugar - Echo and the Bunneymen

Other genres:

Your song - Elton John
Where to now St. Peter? - Elton john
Sixty years On - Elton John
Most of Dark side of the Moon and Animals - Pink Floyd
Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict - Pink Floyd
Echoes - Pink Floyd

too many Beatles to mention

ditto Led Zeppelin

Bridge of sighs - Robin Trower
Simple sister - Procol Harem
New Toy - Lene Lovich
Nowhere girl - B Movie
Epic - Faith No More

and many, many more, all perfect in my opinion.

Seriously, it's Joy Division's 'Cherry Pie'.

If you're going to cite a Joy Division song it should be She's Lost Control. One of my all time favorites.

I agree, but not in the way you meant that.

Oh shit...are you going to defend Cherry Pie now too? Turn in your goth card to me this instant. You're no longer a member of this scene.

Great song, but the one I named is the song that got me into JD...... and for what it is, it's fucking perfect. I still remember the first time I heard it, complete with that funny feeling in my groin. And JD are one of my favorite bands, so it's not just about going for the well-known stuff.

No. That is an indefensible song, and that's not what what I meant.

Oh, and I'm not a goth. 90% of your "music" can suck my dick. :p

Man In Room 5 12-04-2008 02:41 PM

Personally, I was so happy to see JD's She's Lost Control on the Suicide Girls CD. The insert folded out into this poster of the girls laying on all these album covers. The coolest part to me wasn't the girls but the fact that I had every single album in the photo.

EDIT: 90% of the goths here say they're not goth..it's a requirement of being goth. ;)

Necrophagist 12-04-2008 02:48 PM

Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin.

Inis Mona - Eluveitie.

Valhalla - Blind Guardian.

No..... seriously, it's not an image thing. I loathe subcultures like poison.

I dress like a hobo because I see fashion as one of the most evil concepts to pervade modern culture, so the "look" is out. (That and I'm lazy as hell.) I hate nearly all goth rock - JD is as far as I'll go, because they are awesome, whereas most of the goth music I've heard (i.e. the staples) sounds like my nana's piss hitting the water to my unsullied ears. And I'm of the mind that Horace Walpole is a fucking pussy-assed twatrash who couldn't write himself out of a sea of paper with the ink of a thousand quills.

Still, the above post just took self-righteous ranting to a new level, so maybe there's hope for me yet. :D

Dude, if you want to be disciplined, just ask. Reaction formation doesn't suit you. ;)

All I know is I'm having real fucking withdrawal symptoms. I wake up in cold sweats and go through our chat logs to calm my pulse.
