Music thingies that would be or would have been cool

Right. So I decided to make this thread about thingies in music that would have been cool. Here are a few examples I have myself:
1. If Pink Floyd had made and released a studio version of "One In a Million", that would have been cool.
2. If Coven had released the content of their 2008 album of unreleased songs recorded in the '70s in the '70s, that would have been cool.
3. If there were a movie version of "On Your Feet or On Your Knees", that would have been cool.

Go, bitches.

If The Pogues had done a proper shouty cover of Rocky Road to Dublin, instead of just a quick instrumental on a medley.

It would have been epic.

Haunted House 01-05-2009 09:12 AM

It would be cool if Rudimentary Peni actually played shows.

HaiderCheat 01-05-2009 09:15 AM

if Jimi Hendrix played TRIANGLE! !!!!

Necrophagist 01-05-2009 09:17 AM

If AC/DC played I love rock'n'roll.

HaiderCheat 01-05-2009 09:27 AM

2.if slash stayed with GNR for another album
3.if metallica made a cover of we will rock you by queen [ i don't know maybe they did "
4.if eminem didn't marry kim :D
5.if Micheal Jackson stayed the one we all know in thriller album

I would be amused to see them do Hallelujah.

If goth music was never "Invented".

Elysiume 01-05-2009 02:32 PM

If Crass - Reality Asylum became the new viral video for 2009.

KontanKarite 01-05-2009 03:25 PM

I actually agree with Duckman to an extent.

exacerbatedpoet 01-05-2009 04:48 PM

Duckman, KontanKarite explain please I'm curious about why you feel this way.

I Am Great. 01-05-2009 04:57 PM

Because it's a non-existent genre that attracts dick heads. Seriously, start a conversation about what is and isn't "Goth music" and you'll get nowhere. It's fucking ridiculous. Dunno about KK.

You're joking, right? Goth is pretty well-defined.

I Am Great. 01-05-2009 05:07 PM

Goth music is whatever music Goths just happen to like.

exacerbatedpoet 01-05-2009 05:25 PM

So you are saying that ANY music that Goths like is considered Goth?

Because of the piss poor commercialism of a silly image. Not so much that I regret goth music being made, that I'm more annoyed that it's being used to sell shitty metal bands and terrible clothing.

Just like what happened to Punk except 10 times more lame.

exacerbatedpoet 01-05-2009 06:03 PM

This is just a thought or a question that popped into my head after what KK said, but why do people want to be "Goth"? Why is it that people want the commercial image? How can stores like Hot Topic sell this particular look. I'm not saying that Hot Topic is bad or anything but what makes the clothes they sell "Goth". How is it possible to say that this is Goth. So I'm confused. If it is true what Duckman said that Gothic music is what goths listen to, then are all those bands metal bands that have t-shirts at Hot Topic goth because the people that listen are "Goth". I mean is the commercial image part of the identity or is it because you have this identity that you feel the need to have the image. Not trying to say what's good or bad or what is really goth but its just a thought that I've been having. If what I just typed makes any sense to anyone.

KontanKarite 01-05-2009 06:14 PM

There are those that listen to goth rock and deathrock

And there are those that try to attach the adjective "gothic" to their lifestyle.

While a goth could be attracted to gothic things, gothic things do not make a goth.

In short, a goth is a fan of goth rock and deathrock while a gothic person is usually someone who we can all laugh at.

So there's gothic fashion... but then there's DIY (Do It Yourself) as well.

Short and sweet and I'm sure there's going to be SOME person come in here and imply that it all requires a bullshit state of mind and what not. But, those people are generally poseurs.

I Am Great. 01-05-2009 06:23 PM

Can't we all just people? Wouldn't that make life so much easier?

KontanKarite 01-05-2009 06:40 PM

Of course. Goths are generally just people who happen to listen to goth rock. :-/ It's easier to say that than to say a fan of the genre.

I Am Great. 01-05-2009 06:42 PM

I mean, why does it have to be "Goths are generally just people who happen to listen to goth rock"? Why the mothering fuck do people have to be of a certain group? There are enough out there already, what with religions, political stances and so on. It's fucking bullshit.

harlow 01-05-2009 06:52 PM

If the emo scene would kill itself off like the emo kids do.

You mean like how you're just a person and in no way are you a noisist?

Or how about motorcycle enthusiast? Are they not bikers?

Those who like punk rock. Are they not punks?

One who participates in golf, is a golfer, maybe even a caddie.

Duckman, I do hope you understand that as for me personally, the word "goth" is nothing special at all. No special entitlement, no special considerations, just a fan of the music.
