Fear of Driving

So today I was at my local market, and I was driving out of the parking lot. I was doing good, I'm sure. I was checking my mirrors, had my lights on, and my blinker was going.

Then all of a sudden this van full of kids pulls out the same time I do and I almost hit them. I almost killed a family of four...

Lucky for both of us we swerve outta the way and she goes upon her merry little way. As she drives by, I see her youngest son crying.

I go and find a good place to part and start to shake. I had to call my friend to come drive me home.

SO my question is this:

Is this sudden fear of driving I have rational?

Yes, unless it lasts for an inordinate length of time.

I happened maybe an hour ago.

Well.... you do not need to be afraid -accidents do hapen- . If you were raicing, then there was no suposed accident -get it?- hope that you are ok... take care :)

Things like this happen, but nobody was hurt right? And maybe the child was crying because of something else. Its not your fault, so dont be afraid. But if you do hit someone make sure to reverse over them so that there are no witnesses :)

-Very Good Idea!!!

dreamforthedead 12-20-2005 07:01 PM

But what to do with the body? Well, if you're hungry you could invite your evil neighbours around for a Barbeque

Ummm.... "canival" .....what about the bones? :)

dreamforthedead 12-20-2005 07:08 PM

"canival"? Did you mean Cannibal (sp?)?? The bones would..umm... I would fly to Antarctica and bury them. That way if someone finds them they will think its millions of years old or something. If they dont, well we're back to square one ;)

katsumy 12-20-2005 07:17 PM

GOOD ONE I "LIKY , LIKY"

-Oh and the "canival" part my bad I wrote it in spanish... sorry.

dreamforthedead 12-20-2005 07:24 PM

Oh no its okay :). Thats pretty cool.

katsumy 12-20-2005 07:37 PM

:) Thanx :)

Barbeque? Are you sure? I've always preferred my human flesh boiled :).

Are we a fan of "A Modest Proposal", Liz?

dreamforthedead 12-20-2005 08:36 PM

"A Modest Proposal"? Never heard of that, but I really want to know more :D

I couldn't imagine being afraid of driving. Some days it's the only thing that keeps me together. Nothing quite like speed shifting through the gears and letting the car get just on the far side of out-of-control and then bringing it back again.

Thankfully these days I keep the craziness on the track... mostly :)

Kettu 12-20-2005 09:33 PM

I always enjoyed a good human flesh stir fry...

Funny thing is this. After I called my dad he asked If I left anyone alive. I said yeah and he told me to go finish the job.

dreamforthedead 12-20-2005 09:36 PM

Sounds like you have a pretty cool Dad

dreamforthedead 12-27-2005 01:55 AM

They are here in Aus too. It's like stunt driving isn't it??

Manimal 12-27-2005 04:01 PM

depends on the course - some - the lame ones - are classroom courses. Those are the ones they used to make you take when you got pulled over braking HARD and still being clocked at 104 in a 50 (or um... so I've heard - I'd never do that).

Then there are the good courses which are both classroom and hands on with cars specially equipped with hydraulic training wheels that lift weight off specific tires making it feel like icy or wet conditions. I've never done it but I've always wanted to. I'd still highly recommend it.

After an accident, even if it isn't your fault, getting back behind the wheel can be terrifying. I never had an accident then got into three in a month's time (none were my fault) and the final collision was a 'hit and run' by a guy who had a blood alcohol of .357. I had to chase him down with what was left of my poor Neon. :(

eyesofatragedy was hit by a drunk driver as well, and she is still understandably shaken even though she isn't the one driving.

You get over it, eventually, but the fear is natural.

I always afraid of driving, even with someone I trust. There is always an egde of anxiousness.
When I was little person I was in a wreck and didn't have my belt on.

I havn't done anything since drivers-ed,you can not make any mistakes and I need at least two erasures with me at all times.
