Slayer: The shittiest thrash band ever
 

I was reminded today of how much I hate Slayer.

Slayer is, without a doubt, the shittiest thrash band ever. And coming from someone who despises most thrash, that's saying something.

And don't start the "Slayer is more influential than Metallica, Megadeth etc" argument, because it's bullshit, and you know it. All Slayer brought to the genre was formulaic and repetitive riffs, solos that pop out of nowhere and aren't even good, a bald guy with a dumb beard, and the most boring singer in heavy metal history.

In general I like thrash metal.

I can't fucking stand Slayer (or Megadeth) though.

Slayer is laughable. Seriously - once a friend of the Judge's put on an album, and she laughed so hard she shat herslf.

Reign in Blood.

It is fucking good.

Reign In Blood is an amazing album, 28 minutes of some of the best metal ever commited to vinyl, which musically still stands today !!!. :)

JCC, what do you think of the earlier stuff such as Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits, and do you have the `Haunting The Chapel` (there is an aweome version of `Captor Of Sin` on that record) E.P ?

I've got Show No Mercy. It's okay, but it lacks the groundbreaking element of Reign in Blood. I've been meaning to branch out into the other Slayer records, but Reign in Blood is so good that I always feel satisfied with that.

You should hear that song live, I saw them at `Clash Of The Titans` (a Thrash Metal tour consisting of Suicidal Tendencies, Testament, Megadeth, and Slayer) at Wembley Arena in 1990 and they opened up their set with that song and it was incredible, and they were the best band that night (they also filmed the `War Ensemble at that show) !!!. :)

I could've seen Slayer at a venue near me, but thirty quid to be in the same venue as Trivium was a bloody scam.

Reign in Blood sucked, and every Slayer album after Reign in Blood took the suck to a new and higher level.

Slayer is a good band. I've got Haunting The Chapel (on cassette!), Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss. Good stuff.

I'd rather listen to Death Magnetic than Reign In Blood.

And when you consider that I turned down a free copy of Death Magnetic, that's saying something.

Raining Blood is so awesome that it was sampled by Lil' John and the East Side Boyz on their track "Stop Fuckin Wit Me". Pure gold.

It's also a blast to play on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. ;)

You know what would be funny? If the members of Slayer saw it on there, went all "Wuuuuut?! Dis song supposed to be serious!!11 NO FUNNY!" and then sent the copyright complaint.
