For a million dollars, would you leave your native country forever?
Bank heist, tax liability, pay-off from irate father of unsuitable spouse, etc., for a million dollars, would you leave your native country forever?
|
Are you kidding? I'd do that for less than five million.
|
Pfft, Id gladly do it, give me a good reason and the money to go back to Europe. honestly rather be in Germany, or even Luxembourg, than in the US.
|
Yes, Vancouver here I come!
Or England. |
No. A million dollars wouldn't last me long at all.
|
D: I guess.
I'm a penny-pincher, so it would last me a long-ass time sitting in a bank-account...xD |
You're damn right I would do it! I would do it for less that a million dollars! I would never ever return or even think of the place again.
Pack a bag and walk away from it. I wouldn't ever visit either. |
Come to think about it, give me a house in Ireland and some sandwiches and I'd leave forever.
|
Only if I could still visit on occasion. And only if my hubby could come with me. =D
*dreams of life in Hong Kong/Singapore/Japan* |
I'd leave for a million, sure, but I'd also leave if I were just guaranteed a home and food.
|
Nope, make it a billion, and I'd think about it.
|
I could invest and make a million dollars last the rest of my life - easily.
Yes, I would. It would be difficult and I hope I could come back to visit, but if not ... well, there is a great deal of the world to see and a million bucks would allow me to see most of it if I used my money wisely. Being a history major I could spend most of my life just visiting all the great places in world history ... that alone would be worth it. |
Oh God If I had the chance I would leave Romania for free.
|
Gladly. Id probably leave for free.
|
Get fucked.
I'm not in the mood to leave my country for any length of time longer than a year if purely for nostalgic reasons. I could survive never visiting Auckland forever, though. |
I would gladly leave the US for Europe and drag my boyfriend with me. I just have to say that forever is forever. My mom would never get to see my wedding or her grandchildren. The side of the family that I do know, I'd only miss a few, but that would be enough to ache my heart for a lifetime. The want to break free from your familiar life is a very desirable apple indeed; but you find that when you chew to the center its filled with worms and leaves such a horrible taste in your mouth.
And with this knowledge I can't say that I'd ever willingly except a million to stay in my hometown forever. I want to get out, but I also want my family to stay in my life- despite how fucked up they truly are. So maybe some kind of medium- an inbetween that could be reached. So you can leave your country forever. Just call your family and pay for them to come and see you. Not being able to go to the holiday gathering is too much to bear so I'd want to come back at least five times a year. Call me attached, but I'd like to be there for the birthdays, thanksgiving and christmas- and maybe a quick fake cult ritual or two in the park to freak out the townspeople. |
Nah I love it here . . It would be good to have a million dollars but I couldn't leave this country forever.
|
No, I couldn't everywhere else is too different for me, the United States is my home, and I don't think my body could easily handle the shock of leaving it forever(I'm being literal). Even seeing highways with those reflective strips in them is odd for me.
|
I don't think it's easy for anyone to leave their home country forever, despite what they may say or believe. I've known people to go abroad and live for a year in a country they love only to realize how tired they become of it and how much they desire to return home. Some never realize the culture shock they may endure when they leave home. Not everyone is affected by these things, or at least not to such great extent as others, but to leave forever? I think not. I say all the time I'd like to move to Europe, but I'd still have to return to the U.S. at some point.
|
Well, the U.S technically isn't my "native country", but I don't live in Canada at the moment, so I really can't leave it.
So I'll answer for the States and second Joker's opinion. Gimme a decent house in Europe and food, and I'm outta here. I'd even go back to Quebec for free, just gimme room & board. |
