Greetings,my name is Marcus Mayer

Greetings,my name is Marcus Mayer,obviously..
I'm from belgium, sadly enough, don't really like it here.
I'm not really good at introducing myself, barely know what to say,I'd rather jump in straight and start a more intresting conversation.
But well, lets start with some hobbys,
I love reading books, mostely science fiction and fantasy.
I do not really have favorite authors tho I do have some favorite books:
Hyperion,Nights Dawn Trilogy and Sage of the dark war are my top 3
I do have other favorites tho...
I also enjoy watching a good movie now and then, altho I must admit that in my opinion any movie made after 2005 is not really worth the watch, altho there are some exceptions,eg:the new nicolas cage movie, knowing.I dont consider nicolas cage a good actor,he has had some decent flicks but his acting went down over the years I think.
Also I love interview with a vampire, stereotypical isnt it,I know, but I do honestly love it.My all-time favorite movie would be V for Vendetta I think.I just adore the scores and main thought behind the whole movie.
Using this as a pickupline for my favorite music I like to listen to Tchaikovsky, his whole 1812 Overture is magnificent.
Also like some occasional Barisnikov(excuse my spelling,I'm always wrong when trying to type it). I also like alot of metal,no deathmetal do,I preffer sofistication over screamers any day, altho it is possible for me to enjoy a dimmu borgir, job for a cowboy or cannibal corpse song depending on the mood I ,at that time, reside in.
My favorite bands however would be Hammerfall,Kamelot and some oldera-nightwish.Oh not to forget I also like to Listen to Blutengel,Corvus Corax and E nomine,to name some... As u can see I posses a broad musical taste.
To answer the question from the sticky I would preffer the national anthem part of Tchaikovskys overture on my funeral,I also will never get married so no music for that particular question.
To answer another question: Its not a matter of how,its more a matter of how many ill take with me.(Believe the question answered here is quite self-explanatory)
I got a real casket for my b-day couple of years back from a good friend, well actually multiple friends,as it was quite expensive...
I would love to be burried in it ,its a real dark purple one, almost black, with red lace on the inside, really gorgeous.
Dont really have a favorite outfit to be honest, like them all equally, hell if I wouldn't like it I wouldn't have bought it now, would I?
I dont really miss anything from my childhood, altho I am a bit sad of losing the ignorance to this world we live in,but that gets canceled out by living a full life ofcourse.
I do not believe in education.I have done 8 years of latin-mathematics (this is in my country the "highest" form of education) I then did a college course on Ict ,and I must honestly say that I learn more about the world each day on the internet then all my years on schools.Sure they taught me a skill wich I use on a daily basis making myself an income to sustain me,but I do believe the system nowadays is hugely flawed.I'am male by the way.

Now the reason I joined is fairly simple. I just want to meet some people who know how to discuss lifes issues in a decent way, argumenting their statements, proving them accordingly and having knowledge of how personal perspectives influence those opinions and statements.

Now I take my leave and bid u goodday

Dark Regards,
Marcus Mayer

*edit: oh,I apoligize for the lenght of my post,I did not realize.

Mr E Nigma 03-28-2009 11:41 AM

It's fine, intro posts get that long, I only wish you would've pressed enter(return) more often.

None the less, if you're a fan of older nightwish stuff and Kamelot, check out Epica, they have an album attributed to Kamelot called "Kamelot."

Welcome to the forums.

Godslayer Jillian 03-28-2009 12:03 PM

HYPERION?!!!!

Holy shit!

I can forgive all the things that peeved me in your introduction just because of Hyperion!

Ignore her, Uni would never understand Dan Simmons.
That says a lot.

Smells Like A Foot 03-28-2009 12:11 PM

Also, she likes to pissed on, so her opinion never counts.

Lady Christine 03-28-2009 12:13 PM

Again with the pissing!

Smells Like A Foot 03-28-2009 12:16 PM

THAT'S more like it.

Lady Christine 03-28-2009 12:19 PM

Why does everyone have this fascination with Uni being pissed on!?

Anyway Marcus, Welcome!

Smells Like A Foot 03-28-2009 12:27 PM

Ask her. It's hilarious.

Mr E Nigma 03-28-2009 01:03 PM

Because it makes us LOL

Marcus Mayer 03-28-2009 01:34 PM

Yes hyperion was art from beyond this plane of existence.
I liked the sequel too but it could never touch the divinity of hyperion itself.
@ Mr e nigma : I apoligize for the not so decent construction of my post.
I also know Epica ,but for some reason I dont like them that much, they have some very nice songs but I preffer Sirenia over Epica every day.
No offense intended, just thinks she goes a notch to high on the ladder sometimes.
Shes quite a pretty lady tho...

Mr E Nigma 03-28-2009 01:55 PM

Sirenia is quite better,
To that I must agree
Also, if you've not heard them
Stratovarius is quite good indeed.

Marcus Mayer 03-28-2009 02:11 PM

I have now listened to :Black diamond,Destiny,Speed of light,Paradise and Mother Gaia.
And I must say they are enchanting.
They remind me of a mixture between Kamelot and a bit tristania (melody-wise that is)
I thank you for telling me about this band.
Any songs you would recommend me?

Mr E Nigma 03-28-2009 02:20 PM

"Phoenix" would be one.
Also their cover of "Greensleaves,"
I'd say, Is well done.

Mr E Nigma 03-28-2009 02:33 PM

You might also like the band
"Synergy", They are female fronted too.
Though not everyone's a fan, I'll leave that up to you.

Marcus Mayer 03-28-2009 02:38 PM

I'm having trouble finding them, well I find to many synergys.
Maybe you could recommend me a song wich would make my search a bit easier?
Thanks in advance

Mr E Nigma 03-28-2009 02:45 PM

http://www.myspace.com/sinergymetal (Or search for sinergy on youtube)

I recommend "The Bitch is Back"
But at those others you can also take a crack.

Marcus Mayer 03-28-2009 02:49 PM

Aha! My mistake was typing synergy instead of sinergy ,thus not finding the right band on youtube.
After following the myspace link I must must admit that "the bitch is back" is a damn cool song ,thank u again for giving me two new bands wich obviously are gonna become a big part of my playlist

Pyre 03-28-2009 02:58 PM

Kamelot is one of my favorite metal bands. I saw them live last year and was BLOWN AWAY. It was rad.

Although your post was harsh on the eyes, I'll forgive you as it's obvious English is not your native language. Welcome to the boards.

Marcus Mayer 03-28-2009 03:00 PM

Why thank you, such forgivable people here, hihi
But thank you for the welcome *grins*

Really? I've been listening to them for a while but I've never thought of seeing them live, mainly because some bands live are horrid compared to their recorded counterparts for example: Dragonforce.

Blame gothicusmaximus. Though I've finally provoked such a response. So I shall stop.

And Lady Christine, Dragonforce is majorly horrid live or recorded...

There only mildly decent album was Sonic Firestorm and I have no idea why people are so fascinated with "Through the Fire and Flames." It's crap if you ask me.
