Is the look too over the top?

I'm going somewhere with my friend and I was wondering if thiswas too over the top....

Stormtrooper of Death 04-07-2009 07:58 AM

Don't worry about what other people will percieve, wear what you want. Personally I think it looks fine to me.

Malice In Wonderland 04-07-2009 08:05 AM

It's horrible.
Sorry, it really is.

dabbadmc 04-07-2009 08:14 AM

Ditch the lipstick and you'll be fine.

MJZ93 04-07-2009 08:18 AM

Thanks guys. *ditches lipstick* Honest people rock.

Raptor 04-07-2009 08:18 AM

Yeah I'd lose the lipstick.

Edit: bit late there oops

maggot 04-07-2009 08:31 AM

You should do something about the methbags under your eyes.

Solumina 04-08-2009 01:26 PM

It isn't over the top so much as poorly executed. If you are going to do a really dark lip then you are going to actually need a decent product to use, otherwise it won't go on well, nor will it hold up. Also with a lip that dark you want to start with a liner (actually a good black liner plus red gloss can look nice but really is over the top for just about anywhere other than a club) and you may want to think about a lipstick brush, it will help lipstick to go on much smoother and will make it easier for you to apply it exactly where you want it to go.

Opteron_Man 04-09-2009 05:25 AM

You look very pretty, but maybe dye your hair black. The lipstick would match better then.

XxBloodyrosexX 04-09-2009 08:42 AM

if you are going to go with darker lips I would add a dark grey or black eyeshadow and insead of purple eyeliner I'd use black and if you want purple use a colored mascara. If you're seriously going to keep a look like that I'd think about maybe dyeing your hair, if you are allowed, either black or a dark brown. Maybe even purple! :) and you should feel no pressure of any of my advice; it's only my opinion. If you like anything go for it! It doesn't matter what other people say.

Tam Li Hua 04-09-2009 08:49 AM

It looks okay, but I don't think black lipstick is a good shade for you. Also, it looked incomplete somehow. I say that if you want to do a "Goth" make-up look, you need to do it -completely-, or it doesn't look quite right.

Have you considered doing something a little different with your hair? Perhaps putting it up in a messy ponytail or something?

Pineapple_Juice 04-12-2009 11:29 PM

I'm only telling you this because I don't want you to embarrass yourself by wearing it in public, and I'm not trying to be mean at all, but that looks completely horrific.

twistedsyn 04-13-2009 10:43 AM

Black Lipstick looks horrible on most people..myself included and I still have photos up of me in it.

99% of people just cannot pull it off.

Also unless your the type of person that can pull it off..you also have to take the effort to make yourself up very well, it just looks like crap...its not something you can just slap on and wear with anything.

twistedsyn 04-13-2009 10:48 AM

If I am not mistaken..that kind of lookS like We & Wild lipstick..I hope to gods not.

That product line is just...nasty. I used the eyeliner in an emergancy, forgetting mine when I went out and my eyelids basically stuck together.

And I hope that, this photo is a "Before" getting ready picture and not a "I'm just going out the door and thought I'd snap a photo".....photo..

I am under the belief that the only person who can pull off black lipstick is Madonna. Example:

If you are not Madonna, do not wear this.

twistedsyn 04-13-2009 12:03 PM

Wouldnt matter

I like the "Like a Prayer" look she had

I don't even have a penis and I'd do Madonna.

korinna5555 04-13-2009 12:11 PM

Miss Cogs can pull off black lips quite nicely!

Fyrinnae has some awesome-ass black lipstain. WHOO.

twistedsyn 04-13-2009 12:18 PM

I have found very few lipsticks that look right on me. Black is not one of them . Frankly it doesn't look quite right on anyone, not even madonna ( that lipstick in the picture looks more like a dark plum than black ) . 90% of the time I just wear lipbalm.

take a look at the fall/winter 2008 couture collections by YSL and Dior, both hand multiple models with black lipstick (if I remember correctly YSL went for a glossy look and Dior stuck with matte) and they all looked stunning

Minyaliel 04-13-2009 12:33 PM

Oh Gooood.... *groans* That, as many others have stated, looks terrible. If you have to do the black lips look, mix it up with a red lipgloss on top or something. I´ve never seen a picture with someone successfully wearing black lipstick that wasn´t photoshopped to death.

korinna5555 04-13-2009 12:35 PM

I don't like anything more than chapstick/balm on my lips. Lipstick and I do not get along.

twistedsyn 04-13-2009 12:39 PM

Black Cherry isn't that bad, not as bad at straight glossy black. It has a nice mix of red/purple/black in it.

Depending on your skin tone and all, if you can pull it off.

Bonquisha Brown 04-15-2009 01:27 AM

Whoa...

To start, ditch the lipstick. You should probably just stick to nude or maybe some gloss. Also, the purple liner looks horrible. Switch to black or a brown slighty darker than your skin tone, and remember: less is more. Also, you should do something about those huge meth/crackhead creases below your eyes. Get more sleep and put on some night creams before you go to bed. In the morning put on a little foundation (please don't cake it on) to blend it out.
