The 80's UK Crust/Punk/Thrash Thread

England has given us some of the greatest bands in history like:

Onslaught
Hellbastard
Doom
Venom
Electro Hippies
Carcass
Napalm Death
Extreme Noise Terror
Amebix
Axeginder
Concrete Sox
Heresy
Sore Throat
Chaos UK
Broken Bones
Discharge
Disgust
Electric Wizard
Mau Maus
Vice Squad
Chaotic Dischord
Court Martial
The Exploited
UK Decay

So let's talk about England's kick ass 80's thrash/punk/crust!

Malice In Wonderland 04-27-2009 08:49 AM

The only bands I really like there are Vice Squad, Discharge, Amebix and occasionally The Exploited.
Chaos UK are meant to be good but I've never listened to them.
My mum used to live with them so that's where I know about them.
They worth a listen?

EDIT: UK Decay are also pretty cool.

Stormtrooper of Death 04-27-2009 09:03 AM

Chaos UK are very good. I recommend listening to:

I've gotta say, they sound fucking awesome.
You heard of The Disrupters?
They're an anarcho band that come from where I live.
They're fucking amazing live.

I'm in love with Exploited, Discharge, Broken Bones, and I also really like Amebix and Chaos UK

Since Charged GBH were active during the 80's I think they kind of deserve an honorary mention. 'Cos they're awesome!!11!!!!

Duane 04-27-2009 11:26 PM

Meetahllekuh eez lyk dee bees twash bahnt eva!!! Sleeyor ees kuul 2!

UK Decay, the Exploited and Discharge kick ass.

Stormtrooper of Death 04-28-2009 07:38 AM

If you like D-Beat, VARUKERS are a must. I find them to be highly underrated. Also, Youtube has the complete "Power From Hell" Album by ONSLAUGHT, link:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...AE19F1E5B33CEB

They started out as a Discharge/GBH style punk band in 1983, but during this period (1985) incorporated more thrash, good stuff!

Malice In Wonderland 04-28-2009 08:17 AM

Yeah I know about The Varukers.
Their singer sings for Discharge now.

Nothing wrong with that, I'm in the same boat, but hey I'm learning. Man, it makes me sad to think about what I thought punk was a year ago...

Stormtrooper of Death 04-29-2009 07:17 AM

Honeythorn:

It's ok not to know much, hey I've been in it for 4 years and am still learning about bands and the scene. Thats the nice think about goth, punk, ect, the scene is so old and deep there are thousands of bands!

I will teach you both!

Today's video is from The Exploited's crossover thrash period, but still good!

Joker_in_the_Pack 04-29-2009 09:34 AM

I greatly prefer their Punk to their Thrash.

Malice In Wonderland 04-29-2009 09:40 AM

Yeah, their thrash stuff did fucking suck.

Almost as bad as Massacre divine and Grave New World by Discharge.
Man those albums fucking suckedddd.

Yup, The Guitarist of Discharge went and started Broken Bones and the singer from The Virus went and founded Cheap Sex.

Small world.

Stormtrooper of Death 04-30-2009 07:20 AM

Live at the Fulham Greyhound London 1989

Malice In Wonderland 04-30-2009 08:37 AM

I still don't get why people ask why I don't like ENT?

Stormtrooper of Death 04-30-2009 11:24 AM

To each their own, but I love them guys. One of the first grind/crust bands I ever listened to.

Malice In Wonderland 04-30-2009 11:36 AM

I'm not really into grind.
I like bands such as Antischism, Antisect, Nausea, Selfish and Tragedy though.
Not really sure what they fit into exactly.

Antisect is one of the first crust punk bands from the UK and the rest are excellent crust punk bands from the USA. Today's video is from Heresy, awesome band:

Malice In Wonderland 05-01-2009 08:44 AM

Aah.
I didn't know were they where from.
I just know the music's pretty cool and the singer from Antisect kinda looks like George Michael.

Edit: You into any anarcho?

Stormtrooper of Death 05-01-2009 08:53 AM

Yeah I like me some anarcho:

D.I.R.T., Crass, Subhumans (UK), Flux of Pink Indians, Anthrax. I love peace punk!

Malice In Wonderland 05-01-2009 09:08 AM

Aaah, sweet man.
I was gonna see Flux at the Feeding Of The 5000 but we got tickets for the day before instead.
Ended up seeing Conflict and The Disrupters instead.

I don't really like Conflict, but they were fucking amazing live.

Along with The Disrupters there's another band called Contempt who are kinda local to me.
Same sorta anarcho/UK82.
You'd like them.
