That cover makes me cringe. Reminds me of Nylon.

It still will be, just that the new format will let them cover more than that. They were a bit limited, now they just widened their horizon a bit. I don't really like the band on the cover myself though, some of the other stuff is ok. There's only so much you can really cover i think with it being soley deathrockish stuff.

While the coverage in this issue is not explicitly goth/deathrock/punk, there's a lot of stuff that would appeal to all of those. Preacher & The Knife are performance-oriented post-punk with echos of The Birthday Party, Schwefelgelb are like a modern DAF, S.C.U.M are one of the best new dark bands from the UK (without being goody like a lot of new UK bands tend to be) and Modern Witch sound like a lo-fi combination of Sixteens and Bubonic Plague. HEALTH are noisy art-punk, Micachu is noisy art-pop, Excepter is psychedelic experimental weirdness, and Nero's Day At Disneyland is just amazing and crazy.

Playdoe is electro-hop but we like that so nyah. :D

Yeah some of that still sounds interesting, I don't like the cover band but I don't really care that they are on the cover either. You are most likely going to lose some deathrock fans though. I got banned from a deathrock board because I disagreed with people saying that the magazine must suck as there were no deathhawks on the cover anymore...

What did you say to them to warrant a ban?

I think it's more important that people be open to great music than the same boring cliques. Anyone who cares that much about some haircut probably doesn't care about music that much anyway, so no big loss for us! :)

I'm afraid not, we aren't supposed to link to other forums/boards here. But it's called Undead_ and it's on VF (I hope that is ok with the mods here, I'm certainly not recommending that place). Also my posts there will have disappeared because I deleted my account, I only made it to have a look at that one board.
But if you want to have a look there, I'm sure you can still see all of the comments calling you the new Vogue.

I quoted one of the mods/owners who posted something along the lines of "I hate closed minded people who judge people on appearance" in one thread, then quoted her post in the DDM thread where she said they suck because of the cover, and followed it with something about hypocrites. She accused me of being some girl that apparently stalks her, banned my account from her board, and changed the settings so that new members are vetted rather than being allowed access immediately.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. Can't see it because posts are locked but whatevs, that's a chuckle and a half.

Man, I wish we had Vogue's budget.

Annnnnnyway, to get back on a more positive track, we're working on revamping the website now, and there will be exclusive videos and music downloads for subscribers.

PERSONALLY, I like new DDM. I think it looks a lot pro and neater than before. And I like the music involved so it's all good in the hood.
