All Cats Are Grey ...

Hey

You can call me Tai or whatever.
I'm new.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Haha not to too much lately. My Ipod is my siamese twin.

2. Where are you from?
The middle of some fricken woods on the Northeast Coast of the US ...
awesome right?? I'm working on easing into a less prehistoric location.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Right now its somewhere between Poe && Poppy Z ... but I'm gonna
broaden that - promises.

4. What are your favorite films?
All About Lily Chou Chou, Clean, Let the Right One In, Mysterious Skin,
Once, Where the Wild Things Are, Sprited Away, Luster, V for Vendetta,
The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros, Ghost in the Shell, Donnie Darko,
Eternal sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Anything by Gus Van Sant, Rachel
Getting Married, Coppola Version of Stokers Dracula, Dark Water(Original)
Theres more I dunno ... I'm kinda an Oddball

Indie && Foreign stuff usually has a special place in my heart.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Haha ... This Charming Man - The Smiths

6. At your funeral?
Space Lion - Yoko Kanno

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I'm not gonna try && be a badass. I wanna die with my lover. Insert
cheesiness here I know. Don't gimme shit kiddies.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
None. We will be cremated. Then sprinkled in our favorite place -
together for all eternity haha ^_^ Whats more goth cliche then that.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I like my old Joy Division tee with the everyday wear n teared feel, layered
on top of an old grey thermal. Black faded Levis. Leather cuff. Black Doc
Martens. My retro glasses. Faux black hair. && My faux moto jacket.

Its classic child of the night with a modern sensibility.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Playing in nature - feelin like I rule my own world.

11. What's your favorite band(s)?
Deep breath ... I'll go for my must haves first ...

Joy Division, Siouxsie && Banshees, Cure, Christian Death, Bauhaus,
Some Depeche Mode, Lycia, Dead Can Dance, Nosferatu, Ministry,
Cocteau Twins, ALCEST (<-- A current fav), Opeth, PJ Harvey, Por-
cupine Tree, The Smiths, Bjork, Bat for Lashes, Radiohead, The Gather-
ing, OLD Lacuna Coil (I'm talkin the Eps && In a Rev era - that stuff
was genius, the new stuff is ... well shit), Paradise Lost, Android lust,
Vast, Type O Negative, Some Iron Maiden && Sabbath ...

And may I please say that anything from Projeckt is pure ether.

Theres more but I'm fried.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I was pursing a Fine Arts Major but, I'm kinda rethinking that - as much
as I hate to say it.

13. Why did you join?
Further my subcultural knowledge.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Its a secret o_O

I have room for the crit. Bring it.
I'm not tryin to prove anything.

Bloodflowers 11-09-2009 07:56 AM

Welcome! I'm a foreign film geek myself, Let The Right One In was amazing... pity they're doing an American remake..

PortraitOfSanity 11-09-2009 08:05 AM

Huge points for the Alcest/Paradise Lost fan.

Really?? I hadn't heard that yet. But indeedly - American remakes are usually shit. My boyfriend just bought me the book for my birthday, so I can't wait to compare the film to it. I hadn't heard of the book before the film started getting buzz - I don't think it was that acclaimed, so we'll see ^_^

Oh, && to Portrait of Sanity. Alcest is genius right. They are underrrated, but then again I kind of like that we have them to keep to ourselves from the general masses haha.

Apparently theres talk of an American remake, make sure you see the ORIGINAL first. The remake could be trash so you need to experience the original to savor it if it happens to turn out that way.

But thanx for the welcome ^_^

Priestly 11-10-2009 03:56 PM

I used to hang out in a horror forum and they would cream themselves talking about this movie. I'll definitely stick to the original. (Like the original Quarantine, called Rec. SO much better.)

Sinjob 11-10-2009 04:03 PM

You seem pretty cool, welcome aboard

Let me know what you think of the book, as amazing as the film was it left out A LOT (such is the nature of film unfortunately though). You really learn a lot more about Eli's backstory and whatnot in the book...

Sir Canvas Corpsey 11-11-2009 01:52 AM

I suppose you can't watch Ghost in the Shell and not end up liking Yoko Kanno.

I actually picked up the Yoko Kanno thing from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack ^_^

But GITS's soundtrack was way more epic && creepy. Wolf's Rain has a great folksy soundtrack too.

Yoko is just an all around genius. && -personality wise- shes a weirdo too, which is usually a plus - as far as artistry goes haha

Sir Canvas Corpsey 11-11-2009 08:15 PM

I first heard Kanno's stuff on the Bebop soundtrack too, but I didn't know it was her or even about her until GITS and then I looked her up and realised. Haven't seen Wolf's Rain yet...

RadTeeJay 11-11-2009 08:28 PM

You have to see Wolf's Rain.
It's much more somber then CB or GITS. I'd say it has much more of a Gothic sensibility to. I remember reading a review of it in Newtype USA before I got to watch the series && they described the storyline && visual style as " gothic in tone".

Xeric2000 11-11-2009 10:14 PM
