TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The stalking began with bursts of phone calls - 10 or 15 in a day, about once a year, from an old college acquaintance. Then, flowers and unwanted visits, an anti-harassment order, an arrest - and bail.

Jennifer Paulson, a 30-year-old special education teacher at a Tacoma elementary school, knew she was in danger this week when her alleged stalker was released from the Pierce County Jail, three days after she had him arrested. She started staying away from her home in an attempt to avoid him...

Only you could post this story as if it's a case against gun bans.

Being a devout Christian, it's questionable whether she would have carried a gun anyway. But I think every reasonable person who reads this story will understand that even if she was carrying a handgun it would have been unlikely she would have had time to react and draw her gun and shoot this guy before she was mortally wounded. The element of surprise and ability to hide himself strategically and wait for her means he had the advantage.

But you will avoid answering that in your reply as usual.

The real point that can be gleaned from this is that our justice system does not provide adequate protections for women against stalkers. And I don't mean handing potential victims a gun.

Very much all of this.

Common sense works as well.

First,Awareness is key to any heightened situation.

Second, is Avoidance of undesired contact.

(Use up those sick days and Avoid being where you're expected to be for the next few days,use that time as you see fit)
